Having never read a Sophie Kinsella novel, and having seen films based on her books I was pleasantly surprised. The second half is definitely where the book finds its flow and I enjoyed it better than the first. I Owe You One is the right amount of real life, romance and lightness. An easy read.

Another perfect read from Sophie Kinsella. The main character Fixie was easy to like and the family dynamics was very realistic. Very enjoyable !!

If y0u want a nice and gentle easy read this is the book to pick up. I've been a big fan of Sophie Kinsella for years and could not wait to read this one.

Fixie Farr is a family girl who is determined to keep her family business thriving whilst at the same time look after her family and 'fix' any of their problems. Fixie is a bit of a doormat who is afraid to speak her real mind to her family. By chance she meets Seb whilst in a café when she saves his laptop from a flood. Seb is so grateful that he tells Fixie to contact him at anytime if she needs a favour. It is only when Fixie is manipulated by her lazy 'boyfriend' Ryan that she calls in this favour. But the spark between Seb and Fixie is a lot more credible than her relationship with Ryan. Over time Fixie finds that she must choose to either ignore the manipulations of family and friends or stand up for herself.

To be honest it was always pretty obvious that Fixie and Seb would become more than just strangers in a café but I didn't care. I wanted a nice and easy book to read and that is what I got. The only disappointment was that there wasn't the usual laugh a moment minutes that Kinsella is so famed for. But overall this is a nice read.

3,5 Stars

One random act of kindness, leads to a stranger giving Fixie an IOU, and starts a chain of events that you may not have predicted from the outset.

Fixie so named as she likes fixing everything is lovely, passionate about the family business, loyal to her family but honestly comes across as a doormat. She drove me mad half the time, as she wouldn't stand up to her siblings.

And the least said about her long term love and crush, the better. He was utterly despicable.

I'm really not sure if I liked most of the characters. In fact my favourite character is one that doesn't talk back -its the family shop Farrs. We get enough description, plus of the vibe of the place and what it sells, that it feels like a character in its own right.

I suspect had I read this any other week I would have loved it more, but given how exhausted I am, I have to say that reading this felt a bit like hard work. It didn't really draw me back into it, which is odd as I normally love a Sophie Kinsella book.

It's not a bad book in the slightest, and I did enjoy most of it, but its also not the best or funniest of Sophie Kinsella's standalone books. There are moments of humour and the further I got into the book, the more I was enjoying it, especially once I started to see the evidence of character development as they became more rounded people.

Filled with characters you love to hate, a lovely small business, a complete mix of personalities in one story and a series of favours and good deeds done, thanks to one IOU note, this is a good story, which frustratingly felt a bit short for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and Black Swan for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I am a massive Sophie Kinsella Fan especially the shopaholic series which is actually the series that got me into Chick Lit.

In the book the author brings us fresh new characters....when we meet Fixie Farr a character that I adore. I have to admit that I totally got her sense of humor because it is so much like my own. She has a tendency to fix things.

We follow her on a journey where she finds herself torn between the present and the past when her teenage crush Ryan comes back into her life. But can she fix her own life?!

This is a brilliant laugh out loud love story you cannot help but route for Fixie.

I Owe you one is a fun, witty engaging read which I highly recommend.

You can't choose your family

It happens not often that there are so many despicable characters in one book! Here you find them galore: Jake, Nicole, Ryan, Uncle Ned... It made me cringe every time when they were selfish, ignorant and/or outright mean to Fixie. Now, she on the other hand is a real gem, and I couldn't believe that she and Jake and Nicole were really brought up by the same parents and then turned out so very differently. Fixie has to fix everything, she can't help it, it's her flaw. (That's how she introduces herself, and I always had to think of Fix-it Felix from the Disney movie "Wreck it, Ralph!") I think her biggest 'flaw' is that she is such a pushover. She is too kind-hearted, too well-mannered, too anxious and sometimes even too naive to have her say! But, to be fair, she has reasonable explanations why she behaves that way (it still made me cringe as well).

The Farr family runs a shop for household goods in London, and with Mum out of the way the three siblings each has their own idea about the future of the shop. The reader senses right from the start: it has to get worse before it gets better. The only question is: how worse, and how can they save it then? That they will do it is propably no great spoiler, after all this is a Kinsella book!

I did like reading about Fixie, about her troubles in the shop and also her troubles with the men in her life, even though sometimes I really only wanted to grab her by the shoulders and shake her awake. But she comes to it all by herself, and finally sees sense.
The transformation of some characters is a bit overdone (Jake!!), but overall it's a good turn-out. Some of the supporting characters were either really amiable (Leila, Hannah, Morag) or funny (Greg, Stacey).
And I really loved the ending with Fixie and Seb in Café Allegro! Soo sweet!
The writing style of Sophia Kinsella is impeccable once again, it is so easy and pleasant to read.

I am such a fan of Sophie Kinsella she has to be one of my favorite authors and I buy and read every book, and I was thrilled to be able to get to read this book before the publication date felt like I had won the lottery

The main character is Fixie this is not her real name but a name she has acquired on her habit to always want to fix things. One day she finds herself in a coffee shop looking after a random man's laptop when a disaster happens and Fixie manages to save the man's Laptop and the man called seb is filled with such gratitude that he insists on writing her an IOU to pay her back.

This book is light-hearted and funny and face paced that its a real page-turner and I could not put it down I loved the characters and Fixie was enjoyable and reminded me oh my love for Rebecca bloomwood and the Shopaholic series, I would really love more books on Fixies story and I was generally gutted once I finished the book.

There were so really funny moments that made me laugh out loud on the train ride home.

This has to be one of the best books I have read other than twenties girl and the shopaholic series that I have really wanted to read more and I really hope we may see Fixie again.

Thank you to Net Galley for the book and Sophie Kinsella for writing another amazing book.

I started off loving this book for its humour but then found the main character too annoying and critical for my liking. It also ended up being way too over the top.

The storyline is a good one and based up to a point on something that happened to the author. The main character of the book "Fixie" saves someone's laptop from being damaged from a collapsed ceiling after they ask if she can keep an eye on it for them. They proceed to thank her by giving her an IOU, which she uses for someone else. I won't go into detail about this part otherwise it becomes a spoiler.

There are various storylines that run alongside each other, which works pretty well but the main character lost my sympathy when she judgementally referred to someone else's yoga business as teaching people lying on mats. A bit too close to home what with me being a yoga teacher and that. ;-))

I would still recommend this book to anyone who fancies a light read and who is a fan of Sophie Kinsella.

Big thank you as always to Netgalley, who provided me with a ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love Sophie Kinsella books. Her characters are always funny and strong. But this book missed it for me.

I didn’t like Fixie for the majority of the book as I felt she had no backbone. There were no real twists.

It won’t stop me reading more but this just wasn’t the usual funny, addictive Sophie for me.

I received a copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley but this has in no way influenced my review or opinion.

When Fixie is asked by a stranger in a cafe to look after his laptop for a minute, she doesn't expect that she will have to....... but then she doesn't expect the ceiling to fall on her! Grabbing the laptop and saving it from damage she earns the gratitude of it's owner Seb and he writes her an IOU for anything he can do for her....... how much can he do for her!

Another lovely fun read from this author. I found myself flying through it in no time and then was disappointed that it had finished! A bit predictable...... anyone could see what a loser Ryan was...... but plenty of fun and definitely worth reading.

Not upto the usual story I would expect from Sophie kinsella but definitely worth a read. Fun if rather predictable but ran through it in an afternoon

I am a long term huge fan of Sophie Kinsella so I absolutely jumped at the chance to read this book.

I have found unfortunately that Sophies newer books dont live up to the old classics such as undomesticated goddess and can you keep a secret however I was pleasantly surprised to find I owe you one as good as the classics.

I loved the character growth we saw in Flixie and like normal Sophie wrote a heartwarming, funny book that makes your soul smile.

I will be recommend this to all my friends and family.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
My usual genre is Psychological thrillers, but every now and then I like to read a Sophie Kinsella book for a bit of light hearted reading in between the other books.
This story was easy to get in to and easy to read, as I had hoped it would be. It wasn't my favourite book from this author though. I didn't find it quite as funny as some of her other books. I didn't have to suffer the embarrassment of laughing out loud when reading in public, I found smiling quietly to myself sufficed!
It has taken me a couple of weeks to finish this book. There was never any doubt I was going to finish it, but it didn't have the pull to get me to read in every spare minute. However, it was very easy to just pick up and put down, which is exactly what was needed.

I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella, foremost feels like a story about family. While Fixie might be the youngest, she's the glue that holds it all together. When her mom goes on a needed extended vacation, the responsibility really hits Fixie. Her siblings have been holding out on her, and are way worse than you first thought. Enter a somewhat ex-boyfriend back in her life, and things only get messier.

Fixie is a character far removed from myself. We pretty much have opposite personalities, making it not easy for me to connect with her. A lack of backbone, and an eagerness to please everyone, she has a lot of growing up to do here. It isn't until she's with her back against the wall, that this slowly happens.

Honestly most of the people in her life are just awful, with very few redeeming qualities. It just shows how much nicer Fixie is for giving everyone so many chances.

As for the romance, it felt a bit weird and forced. That the (ex-)boyfriend is a douche is no surprise, but the new found connection with Sebastian moves very fast, and doesn't come off as genuine.

I Owe You One is not the best Sophie Kinsella book, but still I was rooting for Fixie the entire time. Her family is a train wreck you can't look away from. Ending was predictable, but when you start a Sophie Kinsella novel, you know what you're getting.

Another one of those slushy RomCom books with a fantasical storyline. Pure Sophie Kinsella. Good for a holiday read, as it really doesn't take much effort.

I have read one or two of Sophie Kinsella's books and found them a good light read. However I'm afraid I just had to give up with this one. To start off with the characters seemed quite interesting but before long I began to find them so utterly unrealistic that I just gave up. It might have improved but life is too short to stick with books that irritate you

Honestly, not my favourite one of hers; maybe because I'm getting older and find some of the characters less relatable. However, I'd have no problems recommending it, as usual her excellent writing style draws you right into the book and a whole afternoon will be gone before you realise.

I really enjoyed the premise for this story with just one good deed setting off a chain reaction of events in not only Fixie’s life but in Seb’s life too. Fixie is always willing to lend a hand and she also desperately likes to fix things hence her nickname. However she doesn’t have as much courage when it comes to herself.

I will admit it took me a while to warm to Fixie’s character and there were times when I found myself shaking my head at her. Although I really felt for Fixie in regards to her family situation and how she always felt as if she couldn’t speak her mind especially to certain family members. I could understand her fears and hopes all the while really hoping that Fixie could find the strength to say her peace. It’s very easy to say “just say something” but easier said than done I guess!

The plot moves smoothly and felt easy to read, with a sweet character to root for. Fixie goes on quite a journey and I loved how her confidence slowly but surely began to surface. In a way I enjoyed this aspect more than the romance. Seb and Fixie have a good chemistry but it felt more like a side story than the main theme. I’m not entirely sure that anything can top Can You Keep a Secret? but I Owe You One is definitely a light and heartwarming story. Plus if you are a fan of Sophie Kinsella’s I’m sure you will enjoy it!
