This was really easy and speedy to read. Loved the story; kept me interested all the way through. Classic Sophie Kinsella!

Dixie is an interesting and unusual character with lots going on in her life. A very selfish family and low self esteem but a happy ending.

I loved this. Fixie is a great character. I got everything I wanted to from this book. I
Usually read crime but I loved Sophie Kinsella years ago and wanted to give this one a try. Well worth it

Another success for Sophie Kinsella! This book was funny and was all about family, love and friendship. I found it interesting, lovely and truthful. Red Magazine was right: life doesn’t get much better than a new Sophie Kinsella book!

A charming, love story! Kinsella manages to keep her books fresh and unpredictable, while retaining her formula love story mold. I always know Ill get my fix but the story will still feel original. Fixie does a good deed and saves Sebastian's laptop from certain disaster. They begin a game of I Owe You, which comes in handy when Fixie needs a favour for her childhood flame and brother's best friend, Ryan. The story twists and turns from betrayals to the support of good people. The reader both loses and gains faith in people. We always get our happy ending with Kinsella, but its the journey the story takes to get there that makes her books so captivating.

Really loved this one! Couldn’t put it down. A good read about family, friends and love. What did I love most about this book? Fixie, I can definitely relate to her!! Families aren’t always easy, but they can be worth it.

This is such a lovely, light-hearted read by an author who really is the best at this genre! I have loved Madeleine Wickham/Sophie Kinsella books from the early days and although I thought I might be too old for them, this book is a delight. Fixie Farr is a warm, refreshing character who puts her family first. The novel is cleverly plotted and characters are easy to relate to. Fixie, her brother Jake and sister Nicole develop as the plot progresses, and Fixie learns how to move forward - within her family, her relationships and at Farrs, the family shop. The idea of owing someone is dealt with in an interesting way and I loved the ending. A light and entertaining read!

Its been a while since I read a Sophie Kinsella book and it was good to read her again. I have always enjoyed her writing and this was no exception. It was an fun read. the romance was sweet but I did struggle with Seb towards the end.

I loved Fixie, she was a kind, sweet girl who always put everyone else first. She did make me want to shake her a few times for her to learn the word NO and be a bit stronger. When she finally did start pushing back I loved it.

The chemistry between her and Seb was sweet and palpable, even when they didn't acknowledge their feelings, but I really did get frustrated with him when they split up. I honestly didn't get his reaction and what he did. TBH I think he should have made a bigger statement or attempt to win her over then what he did.

Whilst this wasn't my favourite Sophie Kinsella book I did enjoy it and I am looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

This is a great chick lit book – a scoundrel, a love-sick overworked girl and a family and its business falling apart. Fixie, the main character, is hard to like as she needs to grow a spine, but what’s not to love about this feel-good genre?

Whenever you pick up a novel there’s often a moment when you wonder: is this going to be any good? But with Sophie Kinsella you always know you’re in safe hands. Fizzing with romance, and with a heroine you love to root for, this is one to enjoy.

Absolutely classic Sophie Kinsella and everyone who loved 'Shopaholic' will really enjoy this one.

Fixie Farr works at the family business, Farrs – a one stop shop for all your household needs, with a unique crew of workers and her Mum, the glue of the family. Her brother (Jake – flashy business man) and sister (Nicole – beautiful but flighty) have never really taken an interest in the shop until their Mum falls ill and decides to take an extended vacation to focus on herself for the first time in years.

Jake decides that Farrs needs new, high end products and clientele, and Nicole decides Farrs needs to hold yoga classes… and Fixie is just trying to keep everyone happy.

One day at a coffee shop Fixie does a favour for a stranger (Sebastian Marlowe), who gratefully scrawls an IOU on a coffee sleeve that would forever change both of their lives.

This book was fantastic and kept me up reading well past my bedtime on several occasions!

Do you ever get so frustrated with the characters in a book you want to reach in and give them a shake. That’s pretty much the way I felt while reading I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella. This may sound like a bad thing, and for a lot of people it probably is, but for me becoming that invested in a character is a very good sign and I very much enjoyed this story. I mean it’s written by Kinsella so you know it’s probably going to be fantastic but this is for me was one of her best. Yes it’s frustrating but it’s also funny and sweet and just a pleasure to sink into.

I absolutely adored the meet cute at the start where both main characters are in a cafe when disaster strikes and Fixie’s rescue of Seb’s laptop means he feels he owes her a favour. In fact I loved the whole central concept of them constantly helping each other out in an escalating series of IOUs. They’re very cute together and with the chemistry between them it’s obvious they’re perfect for each other, if only they’d realize it.

I may have been driven nuts by Fixie but that was only because she was too darn nice, and there was a lot I could relate to. Not the need to fix everything (I’m quite happy with mess and chaos) but more her inability to assert herself and her feeling of not being good enough. What’s frustrating though is that she’s usually right, she’s good at what she does and she has good ideas, she just won’t stand up and insist others listen. I was desperate for her to take a stand and speak her mind but instead she lets everyone else walk all over her. If you want to know whether she does take a stand I’m afraid you’ll need to read the book but what I will say is I loved how her character developed.

As for romantic interest Seb, I have to admit I didn’t have any particularly strong feelings about him. He also seems nice (most of the time), he’s funny and sweet but it never really felt like we saw too far below the surface. I did however love all of his interactions with Fixie, they’re super cute together and he’s pretty much the only one who builds her up. I did want them to get together so badly.

The secondary characters were also very well done and I loved what an eclectic mix they were. I particularly loved some of the customers in the family store. They may only have appeared briefly but they certainly left an impression.

So with all of this combined with Kinsella’s always wonderful writing you may be wondering why this doesn’t get a full five stars, there are a couple of reasons. Firstly I didn’t like that Seb wasn’t single and I’m afraid I don’t like when one couple becoming involved breaks up another regardless of how horrible the girlfriend is.

The second issue was Fixie’s family. I loved that family and the family business was such a big part of the story. I loved the way the relationship between the siblings was portrayed and I loved how it developed and shifted. What bothered me was her mother whose actions didn’t really match up with the way Fixie described her. She’s absent for the majority of the book and never seems to give Fixie much credit or even to particularly appreciate her.

I can feel a rant brewing so I’d better leave it there, particularly as it’s such a small part of what is a fantastic read. Despite an unusual concept the story is a little on the predictable side but I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t stop reading and devoured it in one sitting.

If you’re a fan of Kinsella or if you just like a good romcom I would most certainly recommend this.

3.5 stars

I liked the overall story though I was very frustrated at how much of a pushover Fixie was. I correctly predicted several situations so nothing really exciting happened but I did want to find out how everything worked out so I kept turning the pages.

Not my favourite book but definitely not the worst book I've read

I haven't read any Sophie Kinsella for a while and wondered if I would still enjoy this book, but have to say it had me hooked from the start. I loved the character of Fixie, and was willing her to do well all throughout the book. The other characters were also very strong and well thought out, all very different. The story was good, and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I loved the fact it was set in a not-so-trendy shop, the likes of which I remember from my childhood and still love now. A good and entertaining read.

The IOU is an interesting base for a romance, and one that I found to be quite unique, interesting and entertaining in Sophie Kinsella's capable hands. I have to admit, Fixie's character wasn't my favourite. She grated on me a little at first, mainly because I'm not a fan of those people who are always trying to please others. Also, her close-knit family wasn't something I could relate to, and seeing the way they treated her, not really something I would wish for. Her family shop was an interesting base for the story, as was Sebastian's investment company. Neither were the type of place I've come across much in books.
All in all, I enjoyed the development of the characters and story, and the romance was sweet and quite realistic.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Superb story yet again by Sophie Kinsella!! Families eh???!!! I could've quite easily have strangled Fixie's brother!! I was finding myself shouting at Fixie, just like you do with the TV sometimes, as you knew she could be a lot stronger if she tried!!!! I couldn't wait to pick the book up from where I'd left off as it was so gripping!!!! Wonderful story, a real escape, but could quite easily be real life!!!!!!

I absolutely LOVED this book! It feels like one of the most 'natural' novels I have read for a long time. It feels like it was written so effortlessly (which I'm sure it wasn't and only goes to show how hard the writer has worked to make it appear so.) I love the main character, Fixie, who I instantly felt an affinity with as we happen to share the same 'flaw.' The plot is so fresh and original - and most of all - LAUGH OUT LOUD HILARIOUS! It's a story about working hard and being true to yourself and those around you. This book brightened my week and reminded me not to take life (and myself) so seriously. Highly recommended!

I’m such a big fan of Sophie Kinsella’s writing and always thoroughly enjoy her books so when I saw her latest offering available for request on NetGalley, I simply couldn’t resist.

I was laughing out loud at the very first page which is always a good sign. Fixie was an incredibly likeable character, she was naive, a little unsure of herself and, at times, she seemed easily overwhelmed but on the whole she was a genuinely caring person who I would love to be friends with!

Her first encounter with Seb was so entertaining and the storyline that followed had just the right combination of comical and heartfelt moments, even though it did focus on a different area of Fixie’s life than I’d been expecting.

I can’t write this review without commenting on the lovely bunch of characters. By the time I finished the book, I felt like I was part of the fabulous, and sometimes a little crazy, Farrs family.

This was a delightful tale of self discovery, a real feel-good read!
