Wow, I'm a big fan of K. L. Slater and having enjoyed all her previous novels, I couldn't wait to read this one ad it is her best yet.

Although stories about missing children are overly common nowadays, this one's builds a gripping tense plot. The characters are complex multilayered and unreliable with surprising twists and dark secrets all along.
I also loved the unpredictable outcome, all this made it an exciting addictive read that I devoured in one day.

Finding Grace by KL Slater seems to have brought back the author's superb skill set in this novel that creates tension at the outset. Missing children novels are a dime a dozen lately, but Slater has set this story apart with a tense and gripping backstory. There's a lot going on with plenty of red herrings, mysterious actions by husbands, neighbors, fathers, etc., but I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of the story, and way it twisted and turned along the way. Good book and looking forward to more from Slater. Netgally kindly provided me a free copy of this book for an honest review.

This was exactly what you expect when you request a book by K L Slater . Exciting , pacey , plenty of suspects and red herrings . I really enjoyed it . Grace has just turned 9 and is allowed after some persuasion to walk home unaccompanied from her friends house just up the road . In the few minutes that it takes Grace goes missing and there is no trace of her anywhere . Her parents Lucinda and Blake have secrets of their own as do their friends and family . I must admit that I pretty much had everyone down as a suspect and one time or another and was quite surprised at the outcome . A brilliant read yet again 5 stars .

Lucie and Blake are the parents of nine year old Grace who has gone missing on her short walk home from her friend's house at the other end of their street. Both Lucie and Blake are hiding secrets from each other, one a recent secret and one a long hidden secret from the past, neither of them likely to have anything to do with Grace's disappearance. Or do they?

At first I thought, 'not another missing child mystery', but it turned out to be so much more than that. An engaging and well written psychological thriller with enough twists to keep me guessing to the end.

A nine year old girl has seemingly vanished on a walk home from her friends house, even though the friends father is supposed to be watching from his end and her father is supposed to be looking for her to arrive home. In this story everyone seems to be hiding something and one of these secrets may hold the key to Grace's disappearance. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

K.L Slater seems to keep getting better with each book that I read. I was super excited to get sent this new book and was not disappointed. I was hooked from page 1 and had to keep reading until I finished it. This is a great psychological thriller that I strongly recommend.

This is my second book by K.L. Slater and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Finding Grace did not disappoint; it was suspenseful and sinister and I couldn't put it down.

Grace is a 9 year old girl who is wanting more independence. Her parents (Lucie and Blake) agree to let her walk home from her friend's (Olivia) house, after all it's just down the street. Lucie and Blake have set up a strategy to watch her come home (in a way that she doesn't she's being watched). As Lucie is waiting for Grace to burst through the door, a sinking feeling is hitting her as the minutes pass. Grace doesn't come home. The search for Grace begins and so does a road of lies, twists and suspenseful plots. Secrets don't stay burried forever.

A nine year old child goes missing and everyone is trying to find her. This book has lots of twists and turns and many long kept secrets. It does flip from present back to the mother's college years frequently, while only giving small bits of the secret. At some point everyone is a suspect due to the many secrets being kept but the ending does tie everything up. A very good mystery

After relentless pestering from nine year old Grace, mum Lucie finally agrees to let her walk the very short distance home from a friend’s house, with appropriate safeguards in place. It will be no surprise to readers that Grace disappears. As the police investigate, the press hound Lucie and her husband, the public rushes to judgment and Lucie grows ever more desperate, a number of secrets are about to come to light...

Of course, missing child stories have been ten a penny lately, and this did feel a bit psychological-thriller-by-numbers at times (Mysterious Bad Thing in heroine’s past, gradually revealed in flashbacks: check). This particular Bad Thing was quite an original one, though, to be fair.

The story is very readable and generally well plotted, although in retrospect there are a few too convenient coincidences and a few things which don’t really make sense, unless I missed something. (Why did Grace leave her backpack at Olivia’s? Why would she happily get in a car with someone who she last saw saying horrible things about her Mum? How incredibly coincidental that this person happened to be driving past at the exact and only moment that Grace was unobserved!)

An enjoyable escapist read but nothing that will stick in my mind.

Lucie and Blake are about to go through every parents worst nightmare when their eldest child goes missing. Within minutes of her going missing you can very much feel the tension starting to mount. It was almost unbearable at times, as hours go by and she still hasn’t been found.

I love how the author has you pointing the finger at so many people. I couldn’t make my mind up as to who could be behind Grace’s disappearance. Throw into the mix that there is something we don’t know about Lucie’s past and how that could feature in the present day, well the reader is in for one bumpy ride!

Finding Grace has plenty of twists and turns with some shocking outcomes. The suspense and tension literally jumps out from every page, keeping the reader alert and on edge throughout. An O to the M to the G of a read!

Finding Grace by K.L. Slater is simply full on from the word go. A nine year old child goes missing. Two parents are in pieces. One of them is a liar. A not unfamiliar premise, but this one has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing right up to the final page.

Lucie and Blake Sullivan have a seemingly happy marriage and have settled into domestic contentment with their two children, Grace, age nine and baby Oscar, six months. When Grace goes missing while walking home from a neighbour's house. secrets begin to emerge, and perhaps all is not as cozy as it seems. As a neighbourhood constituent of Blake's tells Lucie, "plenty of us can see right through the facade."

The story unfolds primarily in dual timelines, through Lucie's recollections of sixteen years previously at university while she was in a relationship with the shady Stefan, and her current state of affairs surrounding the disappearance of young Grace. We also hear the ominous musings of an unknown voice, someone who is watching, and waiting for Lucie's life to fall to pieces.

This is a novel that grabs hold and simply does not let go. I could not turn the pages fast enough to discover what had happened to Grace on a seemingly safe and familiar walk through her own neighbourhood, This is ultimately a cautionary tale, reminding us that the truth will always come out, and keeping secrets from the ones we love the most often yields the most dire of consequences.

Loved the sound of this book and couldn't wait to start reading it,and I wasn't disappointed .It was a simple idea but the book was far from simple .I could picture the little girl walking home on her own for the first time,and her parents horror when she didn't arrive home.I couldn't wait to find out what had happened to her,and was reading way too late.No spoilers but I enjoyed the back stories as well as the present day drama.I thought it was a very entertaining and well paced book,and I enjoyed reading it.Thanks to the publishers and netgalley for an ARC.

Just outstanding!!!! I read this book so quickly as I really couldn’t put it down, every time I did I found myself gravitating back to my kindle just to read a little bit more. It’s written in such a way that keeps you guessing and turning the pages want to know more as the tension builds. The characters are extremely well written so much so it was hard to work out quite what was going on and who did what making it a very clever book full of twists and turns, entertaining, absorbing and a damn good read what more can you ask ..just read it !!

I'm sure most of you will know by now that K.L. Slater is one of my favorite psychological thriller authors and I always squeal a little whenever a new title comes out. And guess what? It's that time again! Oh yes, a new psychological thriller is coming to the stores very soon and what an absolute scorcher at that! K.L. Slater has truly outdone herself with her newest story Finding Grace, and I'm already having a feeling it will appear on my list of 2019 favorites... Such suspense! Such twists! If you like nailbitingly good psychological thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further because you have found something new to read. I literally cancelled all plans, sat down and devoured Finding Grace in one sitting. Yes, it was just THAT good. You can never go wrong with her books, but this one might just be my new favorite... So, what's to like? First of all, it's the writing style which is just as solid, engaging and fabulous as always. You get not one, but TWO chilling storylines and secrets and mysteries to unravel... Flashbacks to sixteen years ago are mixed with the current dreadful situation, done in such a way that greatly enhances the suspense without things becoming confused or slowing down the pace. My heart went out for all of them and I just had to keep turning those pages to find out both what happened to Grace and what happened with Lucie all those years ago... And trust me, I definitely didn't see the reveals coming. Plot twist bomb after plot twist bomb will be dropped on you as you get more tangled up in the web of secrets and lies. They just keep coming! And trust me, some of them are seriously shocking. Finding Grace ticked all the boxes for me and more, and I can 200% recommend it to any fan of the genre. It's simply a must-read!

Finding Grace is definitely a great way to start the year with a bang. Well written, intriguing, suspenseful, complex and nailbitingly good: oh yes, say hello to my very first 5 star read of the year! I'm a big fan of her work in general and this one might just be my new favorite. What seems to be another kidnapping case at first glance turns out to be so much more... With a lot of extra layers, flashbacks and twists to form a properly complex and well executed plot. You will want to clear your schedule for this one, because it will be VERY hard to stop reading before reaching that final page.

Imagine you have a 9 year old daughter ( Grace ) and you agree to let her walk home from a neighbours house, after a trip to Alton Towers, you and Grace’s friends parents are watching but a chain of small events mean as she turns the bend In the road no one can actually see her, just for a minute....then shes gone...disappeared....into seemingly thin air...
Distraught parents ( Lucie and Blake ) then have to face this realisation and find out why she has gone
The first part of the book gives nothing away, there are hints and clues and you KNOW things are not as they seem, I felt a tense foreboding, it was palpable, I was almost anxious as little by little you realised there was more and more going to be discovered....cleverly woven together via the past past, the recent past and the present
As the book progressed you found out more and more and ( as an avid reader, been there, seen that 😃 ) cockily I thought I had it worked out...quite a few times, I hadnt!!....then the terrifying conclusion which again led me down one path to abruptly stop and turn 360^ as once again the author cleverly added more ‘twists’ to the tale
K.L.Slater writes books at an amazing rate, this being her 8th psychological thriller but the standard never slips and in fact I think this is one of my favourites
I have to mention 2 wonderful characters Nadine ( Lucies MIL) who I pictured kinda Joan Collinsey and was wonderful in her ( unwarranted ) cutting remarks and Barbara Charterhouse ( a local resident who actually plays a vital role in the end ) who was equally awesome in her twin tweeds and brusque manner!
A very easy to read and enjoy book which I read in 2 sittings and was unflawed in its suspense, story and characters

Another hit for K. L. Slater!

Grace is 9 years old - after nagging her parents, she is allowed to walk home, alone, from her friend (Olivia's) house. It is just down the street but there is a curve that in the street on the way. Her best friend's dad, Mike, and her father, Blake, are able to watch her almost the entire time. Things happen and Grace disappears.

The story switches back and forth from Grace's mom's earlier days to the present. KL Slater does a marvelous job of creating a building tension throughout the book by intertwining the past and present.

I was on the edge of my seat. What would be the outcome of all of the characters? Although I do not condone Grace's mom's (Lucie's) actions a lot of the time, her character is well put together and assimilated throughout the story - as are the other characters.

A brilliant read you do not want to miss!

You could be forgiven for thinking that with the speed Kim writes, the quality would suffer but you’d be wrong!! I love her work, her narrative flows well and is solid, without relying on heavy cliche and hyperbole. Her characters are believable and her plots have many original features. This novel is another stonker! I raced thorough it, like all her others and have to say each one gets better and better! I can’t wait for the next!

It’s the day after Grace Sullivan’s 9th birthday. She has been out for the day with her best friend, and Lucie and Blake Sullivan, Grace’s parents, have agreed for Grace to walk the short 4 minute journey home from her friend’s house to theirs. On the way though, Grace disappears. Lucie and Blake are obviously overcome with worry as to what has happened to their daughter, but when Lucie receives a message from her past, she realises she needs to reveal the secret she has been keeping all these years.

I was so excited to hear this author’s new book! I’ve read I think all of her books and have loved every single one of them! When I was given the opportunity to read this one, the decision to move it right to the top of the To Be Read pile was an easy one. I’d also just finished reading another book, so the timing was perfect. At the time, I was not well, and having completely lost my voice I was able to use the opportunity of not having to talk to anyone and to crack on and get through this book, which I read in just under a day!

I do love this author’s books. Her writing is spot on, not just in how well it’s written but also in how up to date the story was….I mean, even Fortnite gets a mention! The storyline features every parent’s nightmare – your child going missing after walking home on their own. In the book, Grace, whilst still only 9 years old, wants to become more ‘grown-up’ and independent. Her mum is not so keen, and who can blame her! But, unfortunately we do have to cut the apron strings at some point and begin to let our children do these things. My son will be 12 this year and is now at secondary school, yet I still pace up and down in the kitchen like a caged tiger when I’m waiting for him to get home.

The author manages to get the emotions just right throughout the story. It switches from worried to scared to untrusting to accusing with a load of other different emotions thrown in the middle of those as well! I had a feeling of unease throughout the book, and my maternal side obviously kicked in and had such an empathy for Lucie. The chapters mainly alternate between present day and 16 years before giving the viewpoint of Lucie during her university years. I did initially wonder how this all fitted in, but all became evidently clear as the story moved on. The other characters were all great and I had trouble determining which ones of them could be trusted and which couldn’t. Needless to say, as per normal, my guesses were wrong!

You don’t get to find out what has happened to Grace until very near the end, leaving you on tenterhooks throughout the whole book. The tension and suspense builds at a fast pace and by the end you feel like you have been put through an emotional washing machine…..on the fast spin!! I didn’t guess what had happened to Grace until the reveal, and I certainly didn’t guess who was involved. I did though have an early inkling as to what was discussed between Grace’s parents at the end of the book, but the ending rounded off a very high tension and thrilling book perfectly!

It was a fantastic story of lies and mistrust, with a ‘slap in the face’ reminder that secrets never stay secret and that your past will always catch up with you. Highly highly recommended! Superb!!
