After reading the 1st book in the Royals series, I was so looking forward to reading the sequel. But after reading the first few chapters, the appeal for me faded away. It took a long time for her to get to Scotland. I feel the other book is better, but this was an ok sequel

Her Royal Highness is an enemies to lovers, queer coming of age story following a young bisexual girl named Millie. After realizing that giving up her dream over a girl who went right back to her ex boyfriend was a terrible decision, she decided to pursue her decision to go to a prestigious boarding school in Scotland and live out her dreams. These dreams get complicated when her encounter with her royal roommate was less than civil.

These few chapters given in the excerpt were enough to sell me on the entire book. Done. Preordered and I am now waiting patiently for release day and the book to land in my very eager hands.

I thoroughly loved how casually queer Millie was. She wasn't completely out, but being bi/pan wasn't a black cloud hanging over her daily life. She's a happy, determined, strong willed leading character with a dynamic personality that has so much potential to grow. I am incredibly excited to see what happens to her as she learns to navigate not only a new city but a new country AND continent.

I am also incredibly stoked to see how Millie and Flora go from enemies to friend to lovers over the course of the book. Starting out with antagonistic chemistry is a really intriguing point. I am eager to see the moment this changes tones and to see how the dynamic progresses from there.

Overall, this excerpt has set up the story in an incredibly appealing way. I am excited to fall in love with the characters and watch the cast grow as friends and more!

Millie Quint is devastated when she discovers that her sort-of-best friend/sort-of-girlfriend has been kissing someone else. Heartbroken and ready for a change of pace, Millie decides to apply for scholarships to boarding schools . . . the farther from Houston the better.
Soon, Millie is accepted into one of the world's most exclusive schools, located in the rolling highlands of Scotland. Here, the country is dreamy and green; the school is covered in ivy, and the students think her American-ness is adorable.
The only problem: Mille's roommate Flora is a total princess.
She's also an actual princess. Of Scotland.
At first, the girls can't stand each other, but before Millie knows it, she has another sort-of-best-friend/sort-of-girlfriend. Princess Flora could be a new chapter in her love life, but Millie knows the chances of happily-ever-afters are slim . . . after all, real life isn't a fairy tale . . . or is it?

I got to read just a sneak peek , so I can't give a full review about it. What I read was fun and I can till this story is a cute one. I am looking forward to May 7 when the it is released!!!
3 stars for the Sneak peek.

I got a complete ARC of this from TLA and I have to say that this exceeded all of my wildest expectations. I want a book for every Royal Wrecker out there.

A fun, romance novel about a sapphic princess in a boarding school in Scotland. It is a joy to read.

The “sneak peek” of this book covers the first nine chapters of the book. You can get the gist of the story from the blurb of the book. I thought that the characters seemed interesting. I especially liked Millie’s character; her intelligence and sly references were clever without being overly snarky. She seemed to be down-to-earth. I also liked the gossip columns/news pieces that preceded each chapter. It was a unique way to advance the plot without a lot of exposition. I will be looking forward to reading the entire book, because it seemed like a fun story that could have some good life lessons for teens. I much prefer the first book. I wasn't interested in this characters in the first book and I'm not interested now.

I cannot review this book because I wasn't given a complete galley copy, only about 60 pages of a "sneak peak."
I most definitely want to read the whole book now, I wish I had a copy!

The excerpt was a fast read with engaging characters. The story line is something that hasn't quite been done before. I can't wait to read the full book

I can’t wait to read the rest of this book! The characters are so lovable and the concept refreshing.
A sneak peek wasn’t enough!

I have just read this and I need the rest of the book now. Its written better than the first and I'm glad to see a lesbian girl being the main character.
Something tells me I will not like flora until the end as I certainly don't like jude.
I would have preferred an explanation to why we are not following the first main character in the 'Royals' or and explanation on who we are following.
But all and all. A good first empression

I don't know why I read sneak peeks because I always want to continue reading and can't! But I guess it's a good sign if I feel that way after 9 chapters.

I was worried after the first couple chapters that the MC was going to be a naive, hearts-as-eyes girl, which I can't say I am fond of, but I think she just needs a couple reality checks. The plus side to this is that there is usually a good character development and learning curve combined with self discovery.

I like the level of quirk in Millie and can't wait to find out what happens next between her and Veruc- I mean, Flora. I also foresee some character development in the princesses future too!

So far, I'm like it!

First, thank you so much to Netgalley for providing me with an excerpt of this gorgeous book!

I first fell in love with Rachel Hawkins's writing in "Royals." Her writing is effortless and enticing, which says a lot coming from someone who almost never reads contemporary books.

Something about her writing keeps you wanting more. Not only has she made a story (that is far over done), interesting, she's also created an entertaining and memorable cast of characters.

I mean this is the kind of royal love story we've been waiting for! (One that involves a quirky, funny, relatable, pop culture, rock nerd, who also happens to be gay)

This sample was only 68 pages long, but you can guarantee that I will be thirsting over this until release day.

I don't think I've hit request on anything as quickly as this sneak peek for ages. Lesbian princess boarding school story!! Sequel to Royals!! I read Royals last year and fell completely in love with the world, and with the way Rachel Hawkins writes contemporary YA romance, and the fact that the follow up is LESBIAN PRINCESS is like someone caught a wish I'd made on a dandelion and was like, okay cool we got this.

This sneak peek was everything I wanted it to be, and I'm already exceptionally here for Millie and Flora <3 Cannot wait for Her Royal Highness to be released next month!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the sneak peek in exchange for my honest review. I was not familiar with this series. The excerpt was not terribly engaging but I read it quickly. I don't think I will be seeking this out when it is published.

Big shout out to netgalley for providing me with an arc excerpt!

Just like the previous novel in this series, you will be captivated by the first page. Hawkins is extraordinarily talented at grasping you from the moment you open her books.

This sneak peek was very engaging. I can't wait to read the first book in the series and also this entire novel!

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for allowing me the opportunity to early read and review a sneak peak of Her Royal Highness!

What I didn't know going into this is that Her Royal Highness is actually a companion novel to Royals. Upon reading the synopsis to Royals I can see the connections but I never felt like I needed to read the first book to grasp the concept of this one. As this was only a sneak peak and only showed the first six chapters I was left with wanting more. Not only in terms of wanting more of the book but also in terms of wanting more FROM the book. These cutesy romance books generally aren't for me but the cover is adorable and the synopsis made it sound really good so I thought why not try the sneak peek!

This book seems to have a lot of promise and I can tell it will be a quick fun read full of Science and Harry Potter references which I am entirely on board with! I can see myself pre-ordering this and reading it fully upon release!

My review will be 3 stars because I don't want to give a formal rating for a book I only got to see a few chapters of, and I always start my reviews off at 3 stars and go from there! I look forward to reading more of this one!
