What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this

I really wanted to like this book. The premise sounded right up my alley, but I just didn't click with it at all.

Athena is training to become a Priestess of the Moon at Avalon Institute in Glastonbury. She is failing majorly in the magical aptitude part and spells always tend to go wrong for her. She has heard that if you find love, your power will be magnified, so she casts a love spell in order to help with this. Unfortunately, something goes wrong and she ends up letting demons loose. Athena and her friends Laurel and Sean must now try and put the demons back from where they came before Viviane the Magistra finds out what has happened. Meanwhile, Viviane has called in a demon hunter names Tak Jager from her past to assist in getting rid of the demons.

See, sounds right up my alley. I just felt like the execution left a lot to be desired. The characters are, for the most part, unlikable to me, besides Moshka the dragon, she was great. I just found that I didn't care for Athena at all, I didn't care about her problems or her plight and was just generally uninterested in what was happening to her. Tak was annoying and brutish, maybe that was the point of him, but it just didn't gel well with me. And Viviane was so incredibly unlikable, and so juvenile for someone who is supposed to be in charge. She had no redeeming qualities whatsoever in the portion of the story that I read. The most interesting things to happen were meeting two of the demons, who were quite well thought out and I found them to be super interesting as they weren't painted as the general run of the mill destructive demons, and meeting Moshka. I tried to give the book more of a chance on the hopes that it would get better but I just couldn't do it any more.

There is alternating POV between Athena and Viviane, which would have been fine except they seem to cross over each other and retell stuff that really didn't need to be retold. Plus the characters were so different to each other it just felt so convoluted and confusing and nothing seemed to be really happening. The pacing also added to this I think, it felt very stagnant and drawn out when it didn't need to be.

I really hoped I would like this story, but it just wasn't meant to be. If you like paranormal romance that sounds a little bit YA, give this one a shot, hopefully you really enjoy it.

I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher, BooksGoSocial, for the eARC copy I received.

It's a good idea but the follow-through was disjointed. It was placed in the New Adult category, but it reads more like a YA book that got switched to an adult book without thorough adjustments. Athena's adventures are more along the lines of Harry Potter while Viviene's story is paranormal romance. The back and forth between the two characters doesn't work for this reason and it seems like two different books and smooshed into one. This author has potential but she should big and age range, choose one lead, and go from there.

A student witch casts a spell to find the love of her life....and gets two demons instead! Now, it's a small matter of enlisting her two best friends to entice the demons back through the portal before the school director finds out.

And you can't forget the very hot guy, who just happens to be a little furry.

These engaging characters combine to create a clever, entertaining story.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this title to review from Net Galley.

This was a cute and magical romance novel! I look forward to future novels from the author. There were a few moments where I felt a little boredom but overall it was a good heartfelt read. 3 1/2 stars out of 5!

I thought I better write up the review even though I haven't yet finished it. The change in POV didn't make me stall but it was one chapter following another repeating the timescale but told from a different POV that made me hesitate. Great if you are wanting to give extra info and put together perhaps scenarios for a film.

I was attracted to the book because of the cover. I do like Glastonbury Tor.

I think teenagers would probably really enjoy it. It's not really my genre but I was pleased to have the opportunity to try it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I just finished this book and I honestly have no idea what it was actually about. It kind of felt like it was all over the place. Whether it was switching the POV or I have no idea what else.. but it was just plain weird. The one thing I did know was that Spell Crazy was filled with witches.

In this book, you will meet Athena. She was an okay character who just wanted to find the love of her life. She does a little spell to do so but doesn't remember to close the circle. Which then leads to some demons coming out to play. Now these demons were odd - didn't want to kill anyone or anything.. they were just weird. Funny but weird and it made the characters in this book act weirder than normal.

There was some drama in this book and lots of weird little romances blooming.. and my head was constantly spinning. Throughout the book, I just went with the flow. I felt like the pacing and the storyline were both a hot mess. I also felt like I was skimming through most of this book because I couldn't wrap my head around anything.

Overall, I'm glad I got a chance to read this weird ass book but I still have no idea what it was about.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

It was a fun read but didn't keep my attention. I found the bouncing back and forth between the b*tchy Vivianne and the fumbling Theenie (Athena) a distraction. For me, I would have preferred each character get their own story. At times I wanted to ask who was in love with whom.

So, it was a great premise! Love spell goes wrong (sort of) and releases demons (who knew baby demons were so destructive?) Head mistress Vivianne is sour due to bad relationship choices and having to ride herd on a bunch of newbies. Athena comes from a mighty, magical family but is a screw-up. Some very trope-y elements, sure, but it had great potential.

For me, it just fell apart when we moved out of Athena's POV and into Vivianne's. I just couldn't muster up enough sympathy. Still, the book was fun when it was fun and enough for me to pick back up to finish. YMMV.

Athena Gwyvern is is a young witch who is failing at school, her spells never seem to go right, lots of sex and silly plot lines.
A fun read.

A wonderful book of a child that's parents have put high expectations on, and she has trouble delivering. This book has romance, dragons, werewolves, demons and more! A wonderful quick read that is perfect for the young adult and adults as well

I've never seen so many different magical being in one book in ever...moon priestess, werewolf, sorcerer, demon spawn, leprechaun, the list goes on. I could hardly keep track of them. Cute story...

Athena believes that if she casts a love spell she will become stronger as a witch and find true love. What happens instead is a thing of hilarity, surprise, fun, and romantic interludes. This was a fun book to read Thank you NetGalley.

Spell Crazy is a paranormal romance filled with interesting characters, a young witch whose spells never seem to go right and a love spell that was never needed. Loved the connection between Athena and Sean. Although an interesting storyline I did have a hard time with two POV's that basically told the same thing over again, otherwise a good read.

I could not get into this book. The ridiculous story aside, the characters did nothing to draw me in. I wanted so hard to like this book, as the description immediately had me hooked, but without key elements that make a story great, I found myself rolling my eyes at the actions of the main characters, and was unable to see personalities in the characters like Athena and Viviane, who should have been the strongest. The romance was uninspired, and I could not wait to be done with this story.

Well I have to say I don’t really know where to start with this book. The synopsis indicates that this book is right down my street. Where in actual fact it just didn’t hit the mark. The book seemed to have something missing but I don’t know what it is.

Athena is a novice moon priestess at the Avalon Institute in Glastonbury, England. Where she is failing miserably at her spells. Every spell she casts never works out as it should. She had been told that if you find your true love then your magic will become more powerful.

So Athena decides to cast a love spell, which yet again the spell goes wrong. She has opened a portal and forgot to close it meaning any demons can come in to our world.

With the help of her friends Laurel and Sean by her side she hopes to round the demons back up and send them back where they came from, before Viviane the schools magistra finds out who let the demons in to Glastonbury. Along with the demons a rare and mythical creature comes though the portal as well, a beautiful dragon called Moksha who Athena makes a strong connection with.

Viviane calls on an old friend (Tak) who is a demon hunter to get rid of the demons. Viviane and Tak have a history that keeps cropping up through the hunt.

The best part of the book was an old folks tale about the bone bridge. It’s is beautifully written and I had to highlight it. You’ll find it in Chapter 14. My favourite line in the book which I also had to highlight was said by Athena to Moksha “Moksha you are the most adorable fire hazard ever.”

Sadly I can only give this book one star.

I do love paranormal romance books, so the cover and summary were quite appealing.

This story is about Athena Gwyvern a young witch who is failing at school and is having trouble with her spells. She decides to cast a love spell that as you can imagine goes wrong. How can she forget to close the ring? This in turn lets lose 3 demons.

I would have liked to see her character and love interests developed a bit further, as well as Laurel’s character. There was in my opinion too much focus on the sex.

Overall the book was an easy read.

Spell Crazy is a Paranormal Romance where a spell goes wrong. This book just wasn't for me, it just didn't hold my interest and I wanted it to.

This was an enjoyable creative book with a good storyline and interesting characters. Told from the viewpoint of two characters, my only criticism is telling the same part of the story twice (by each character) got a bit annoying.

The setting was well described and using Glastonbury and it’s mythical reputation was a good move and immediately made the story believable. I’d definitely read other works by this author.

Thankyou again to Netgalley for letting me obtain this book for free in return for my honest opinion.
I quite enjoyed this book. I do love paranormal romance books.
Athena Gwyvern is is a young witch who is failing at school, her spells never seem to go right.
At a last attempt she creates a love spell but forgets to close the ring, letting in 3 demons. Athena and her best friend Laurel work together with the hunky leprechaun Sean to try and round these demons back and return them to where they belong.
Along the way Athena becomes stronger. We follow her journey from a witch who can't get any spell right to one who is amazing. I love Athena as a character and who she is and who she becomes. She is a great leading character. Such a resilient character. The world is expected of her because of who her family are. With the help of her friends she works out she is just as good as everyone else and falls in love as well while doing it, with the person she suspects the least.

The other character we follow is the head witch of the school Viviane and her love love interest Tak, the demon exorcist. Viviane and Tak have known each other for a long time and have lots of baggage between them. We follow Viviane's journey while she is trying to sort out who let the demons out and trying to find out the truth with Tak and while they never worked out the first time around.
Viviane is a very jealous character and can't control her temper when it comes to Tak and anyone that could be interested in him. She seems to have very petty tendencies to get what she wants. And she will do anything to get what she wants.

Overall I did like this book. Very simple book with a great plot. Very easy to read and get into. I would have read it all in one day if I could have! This book is due for publication on 25th March 2019.
