After being overwhelmed but wood be suitors in her Amish home town. Martha moves to Birch Creek.
Once there a friend suggest a fake relationship to local Seth to help avoid this issue from starting here. Both are not wanting a serious relationship with anyone and this idea seems perfect. But lo and behold after time passes love blooms

Genre: Amish, romance, and a touch of comedy.

My rating: 5 stars.

My recommendation: Romance and Amish readers would love this book though since there is a good bit of romance I suggest 13 up.

My favorite character/s: This is a hard one! There are so adorable many interesting characters. I guess my favorite was Martha tied with Seth, they were so against each other till the end and I loved reading about them fighting their feelings and the matchmakers!

My verse for the story . . . is Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (King James Version.)

My thoughts: Here I am starting my review when I am only on the 5th chapter but I had to! I love this book so far! Martha is by far the most humorous Amish woman I've read about. The book already has me laughing so much my sides hurt and all of the matchmakers are getting to be hilarious with how they are all pushing and pulling at the main characters. I am very picky with the Amish books I read and for me to this is surprising but this is my FAVORITE Amish book ever! The ending was so adorable and sweet! I have enjoyed a few of the author's other works and liked them but this one topped them all! The characters were so easy to connect with, and each one was so different from the others.

Warnings: None

The Farmer’s Bride is a fun, enjoyable Amish fiction novel. Kathleen Fuller tells the story of Martha Detweiler who tries to escape attention from numerous young men hoping to be a possible suitor for her. Another resident comes up with the perfect plan...Martha and Seth Yoder can appear to be dating to ward off other potential suitors. What could go wrong with that idea?! This is an entertaining story with well developed characters that was a little slow paced at times. I recommend this book to fans of Amish fiction.

Thanks to NetGalley and Zondervan for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. This is another Birch Creek series novel by K. Fuller. It tells the story of Martha and Seth - set in the Amish community of Birch Creek. As with all her writings, the story branches out to include other characters who you hope to meet again as she spins out more novels. This is a good read for anyone who enjoys Amish romance.

Martha has found herself in a position where she is the only maiden in the community and is being sought by nearly every young man. she however just wants to be left alone. Not that she is averse to marriage but she feels hounded.
Seth has a secret hobby and wishes he can find time away from the family business to do what he really wants to do.
Throw in Cevilla with her wild ideas and matchmaking plans. Throw in another elderly woman Delilah who wants Setha and Martha for her grandchildren and you have a bubbling pot of conflict which is always a plus for a story
This was well written. The characters were memorable.
However I cannot give this a 4 for several reasons. There was a lot going on this story and I felt it took away from the story of Martha and Seth. For one, in the beginning, I was more intruigued by Cevilla and her long Non Amish love Richard than I was in Martha. And then I was tired of Martha's continual lies and subterfuge because she was not really sorry about them as a Christian. She was merely sorry she hurt her family. I mean this is a christian book.
I loved that the author showed that we can grow to love what we thought we hated if we gave it time. And that the fact that we love something does not mean we have the talent for it. But that does not stop us from enjoying it. Practice does not make us perfect., it only produces the perfect version of ourselves.
Thanks to Zondervan and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this novel. This is my honest opinion.

I read an interview with the author, Kathleen Fuller. I was interested to see why she chose to write about the Amish. She said “Even though the Amish live a different lifestyle, as Christians our beliefs are the same ... We love Jesus and really, what better thing to have in common than our love for Him.” Her appreciation of the Amish culture is evident in her writing. Many Amish romances are written in stilted language with predictable plots. The Farmer’s Bride is quite different. The language flows and the plot unfolds naturally.

The notion of a single Amish woman not actively seeking a suitor is a theme rarely explored. The characters are all developed and not stereotypical. The strengths and talents of the heroine are celebrated, rather than stifled as is usual in books of this genre. The story was very readable and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book. Martha is the only single woman in her Amish Community and is constantly running from all the unwanted attention. Seth doesn't have time for a girlfriend, Cevilla the town's matchmaker suggests that Martha and Seth pretend they are dating.

This is a very good book and an easy read, I highly recommend it.

Thank you Netgalley and Zondervan Fiction for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

Kathleen Fuller's Amish Brides of Birch Creek series just continues to get better with book 2 in the series. If you haven't read book 1, The Farmer's Bride can stand alone but is MUCH more enjoyable with the knowledge of many of the characters that continue from book 1.. The Farmer's Bride focuses on Martha & Seth's stories while continuing the stories of characters from book 1 (The Teacher's Bride). Great book!

This is not your usual Amish romance novel - the two main characters, Seth and Martha are brought together by Cevilla, an older woman who suggests that the two pretend that they like each other in order for Martha to escape the attention of the single Amish men in the town, as she was the town’s only unmarried woman!
They are both unwilling to do this until Martha escapes a party and finds Seth’s secret shed and he listens to her story of needing a break from being hassled constantly and he agrees to pretend to like her.
Then another interfering older woman moves into town with her family and she tries very hard to pair up her granddaughter Nina with Seth. But Seth and Martha begin to like each other...
You will have to read the book for yourself to find out the surprising events that happen in this small Amish town.

I am not new to author Kathleen Fuller’s works, and I’ve always enjoyed her writings. Her stories grab you right from the start. The characters are lovable and make you feel like you’re right there with them, feeling what they’re feeling and going through what they’re going through. When it comes to these characteristics, The Farmer’s Bride is no exception.

Enter Martha. Poor Martha is struggling with something that most would consider a plus. She’s being pursued by not just one, but a number of young men in her district. Instead of being happy about it, she dreads it, and that’s her secret. From the beginning, the reader is drawn into her plight and gets the sense of what Martha is going through.

Enter Seth. The furthest thing from his mind is dating. He’s too busy with his own secret, a secret that Martha accidentally gets drawn into. And there begins the camaraderie between the two. Where it goes next will take the reader on a fun ride full of just enough twists and turns to keep you drawn in.

The story will make you laugh, hold your breath, reflect, sigh, and much more. But through it all, there are also lessons in trust, forgiveness, overcoming past hurts, and love. All of this is the wonderful combination that makes The Farmer’s Bride a most delightful read.

There are so many players here that there are many potential combinations (for relationships) until at least halfway through the book.....which created a lot more intrigue! On some level, you know how it's going to play out in the end, but this doesn't follow the same formula that so many Christian romances do, and I liked that. The end also leaves itself open to at least two or three more books with different character sets. If you like Amish romances, but are tired of the same old formulas, this is the perfect book to hit reset!

This author is another favorite of mine. I'm never disappointed in her stories. Her characters are like family and I love coming home to Birch Creek.
I think the thing that stands out most to me in this story is about love and trust. Trust mostly.
There is some humor in here as well. Martha and Seth made me laugh out right at some of their mess ups so to speak.
Martha just wants to be loved which I can understand. Everyone wants to be loved. Even I do.
We all make mistakes. This is one of the hard earned lessons of life.
One phrase stands out to me.
" Life is not meant to be easy." " It's meant to be lived."
Cevilla learns the hard way too as does Delilah. I think that both women turned out better for it.
For anyone who loves Kathleen Fuller like I do y'all will be sure to love this book.
I strongly recommend her book because there are lessons to be learned and there is humor along the way.
I received a copy from Netgalley. No compensations were received and all opinions are my own

The Farmer's Bride caught my interest from the very beginning and kept me interested until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, especially Martha, Cevilla, and Delilah. Their problems and antics made me giggle many times. I like the way the ending sets up for the next book in the series, and I want to go back and read the other books that came before this one. Ms. Fuller is one of my favorite authors of books centered in the Amish community!
