An okay read, though I was expecting more of a romance and less of the chick lit vibe with the over the top drama, angst and general filler fluff.

It did have some lighthearted moments that had me laughing and I loved the chemistry between the MCs. Not sure this author is for me but I can definitely see many enjoying this read.

A new favorite from two of my favorite authors! This is a steamy read and a great intro to the romance genre for newbies. Loved every word.

TBH I'm a bit sad not to have loved this one, partially because it's one of my favorite covers and partially because I'm such a Christina Lauren fan and I want to love them all. Some of them improved for me on reread, and I really hope this one does.

Because really, this ship should have been my jam because it's hate to love all due to silly misunderstandings, which HELLO HI. Ethan and Olive are constantly thrust together due to their siblings marrying each other, and Olive hates him because she thinks that he judges her for being a non-skinny woman who eats fattening foods like cheese curds. Spoiler: he doesn't.

However, unlike the rest of their novels, this one read like the novel equivalent of a Judd Apatow movie. Literally the inciting incident that sends Olive and Ethan off on their siblings' honeymoon is absolutely everyone at the wedding but them projectile vomiting due to the worst food poisoning ever at the wedding. I know some people find that shit funny but I personally do not.

Most of what went down on the honeymoon itself was fun, even if it did still feel like an Apatow movie, what with the appearance of Olive's new boss and Ethan's ex-girlfriend and her slimy new fiance. Note: the portrayal of the ex-girlfriend was...not my favorite. Lauren have a bad habit of portraying all exes as evil, but sometimes relationships just don't work out and it's not because someone is a terrible person?

Anyway, the last third of the novel is all lies and people disbelieving one another, and honestly I felt like everything Ethan did at that point made absolutely no sense. I get that he loves his asshole brother, but I'd felt like he and Olive were building something strong enough he wouldn't just stone-wall her. That really killed a lot of the romance for me.

Also, in general, I feel like Christina Lauren's novels work best when they use a balanced dual POV, but this novel skewed heavily to Olive. Maybe with more of Ethan's perspective, it would have been clear early on that he wasn't a jerk and also explained his thought process better at the end. As it was, his chapters felt kind of strange because they happened so rarely.

So yeah, I guess if you love movies like Bridesmaids, this will be your favorite Christina Lauren. If, like me, your least favorite thing about Christina Lauren (who I guarantee I love) is that they will make characters act OOC sometimes to accomplish the breakup near the end of the novel, this will not be your favorite.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review.
Olive, resigned to being the unlucky twin is suddenly having good luck. It begins at her sister's wedding. The whole wedding party comes down with food poisoning, everyone except Olive and Ethan, her archnemesis. With a free honeymoon going to waste, Olive is persuaded into pretending to be a newlywed with Ethan. Off they go. Pretending to be married is as hard as she thought it would be. In fact not only is Olive beginning to enjoy herself, but she is starting to feel downright lucky. Fun read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for this free ARC in return for an honest review!

Amy and Olive are twins - Ami is always lucky and wins anything and everything, and Olive seems to be unlucky in life. Ami is getting married to Dane, and she won almost everything for her wedding, including the buffet. Olive is allergic to seafood, and Dane’s brother Ethan (who Olive strongly dislikes) doesn’t like buffets so they are the only 2 at the whole wedding who don’t get sick. Since Ami and Dane can’t go on their (free) honeymoon, Olive and Ethan take the trip to Maui. They agree even though they hate each other, they still want the free trip. The trip ends up going not quite as they planned.

This was a super cute story, especially for the summer. I always love Christina Lauren’s books!

This is perfect for fans of the enemies-turned-into-lovers and fake-dating! Lauren gives us another engaging and funny read, with an appropriate amount of drama in the second half with themes of career, trust, family issues, and relationships. Perfect beach read.

3.5

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The dynamic duo of Christina Lauren has been on fire lately. Ever since Love and other words I have wanted to do nothing but devour every book they have published. I fell deeper in love with Josh and Hazel. The Unhoneymooners feature a realistic and cute couple who don't fall into that terrible stereotype of not being able to be honest and talk to each other. I love the fact her sister still found someone at the very end. It was a joy to read from Olive's point of view. And I am very grateful for the opportunity to read it.

I actually didn't get to this until it was already released (sorry!) and ended up finishing it as a combination of my digital copy and the audiobook. I'm reasonably positive I've read this plot a dozen or so times but it's enjoyable every time. I'll definitely be picking up more Christina Lauren titles in the future.

I saw this book all over social media, and decided to finally dive in and was not disappointed.

At her twin sister’s wedding reception, everyone becomes sick except Olive and Ethan, her future brother-in law, and a man she despises. With a honeymoon fully funded, thanks to her sisters good luck, it is recommended that the two of them go on the honeymoon together. Why waste a free trip? On this unhoneymoon, these two realize they like each other a lot. In fact, they always have, and hope for more once their unhoneymoon is over.

This was the first book I’ve read by this author, but this was a great introduction to her work. Overall, this book was funny and would recommend to anyone looking for a light read.

Where my enemies-turned-lovers/ fake dating trope fans at??!! This one’s for you!

When unlucky Olive and her sworn nemesis Ethan somehow end up as the only individuals not affected in a shellfish poisoning at Olives twin sisters wedding, Olive thinks perhaps her luck might be changing.

“My poor sister has turned into a swamp creature; I’ve never seen anyone this shade of gray before.”

But then her twin offers up the honeymoon that she won. Sounds pretty great until Olive finds out the only way she can go on said honeymoon is with the man she absolutely hates, Ethan, the brother of the man Ami married, and the man Olive has never gotten along with since a cheese-curd moments years before. But how can she pass up on this free vacation to Maui? Especially since she is now jobless and has had rotten luck her whole life. Despite who her travel partner will be, Olive decides to take her sister up on the honeymoon with the plan that since Maui is a big island they can just stick to themselves and enjoy the vacation in their own separate ways, right? Wrong! Anything, that can go wrong goes wrong and cue the hilariousness.

“That’s the whole point of luck isn’t it?” He says through gritted teeth.
“You have to trust that it’s not fleeting.”

The Unhoneymooners was a quirky, sweet, laugh out loud romance that had me cackling while reading. You’ve got the hilarious banter between Ethan and Olive, undeniable sparks between the two main protagonists, feel-good heartfelt moments, and even some wonderful character growth. I fully enjoyed this novel! I’d say my only complaint would be the pace of the story being a bit out of wack(slow, fast, slow, etc) Christina Lauren are a dynamic duo who never fail to make me fully invested in what I’m reading. I can’t wait to read what they come up with next.

I am obsessed with this book. OBSESSED, I tell ya! I devoured this book in one single day. The fake dating trope is always one of my favorites and this was executed perfectly with all the witty banter and clever comments (including HARRY POTTER REFERENCES). Par the course for Christina Lauren, it was laugh out loud hilarious. Olive is one of my new favorite characters and Ethan makes the perfect book boyfriend. The Hawaii setting was so fun. I just couldn’t get enough of it. I need more. Immediately. ⁣

I will definitely be looking for more books by Christina Lauren. I adored the sexy, snarky dialogue and I will admit I am NOT a reader of romance novels. I picked this up as a beach read, looking for something light and different than my norm. A winner all around.

This book was full of characters, family and otherwise. I loved the familial relationships and there were more than one relative that could have been mine. Laugh aloud funny.

Olive's twin sister Ami is getting married and everything is supposed to be perfect and free as Ami enters contests and wins the amenities of her wedding..

After a bout of food poisoning hits all the guests at the wedding except Ethan, the best man and Olive, Ami convinces her sister to go on her free honeymoon to Hawaii. The groom offers the trip to his best man and brother, Ethan. Ethan and Olive hate each other. I love Ethan and Olive and enjoyed every moment of their unhoneymoon.

I adored the constant back and forth banter between Olive and Ethan. The writing was witty and quick. Winner, Winner in my book!

This book was sooo good! The concept was great and the romance was amazing and it was soo funny!! I usually never laugh out loud in books and this one definitely had me laughing! This was a hate to love and fake dating/fake marriage troupe and those are my favorites to read about! I flew through this one! Highly recommend if you are into rom-coms!

Another perfect beach 🏖 read from @christinalauren, The Unhoneymooners, starts with Olive and Ethan, the MOH and best-man at their siblings wedding. They have never got along, but when the whole wedding gets food poisoning from the reception buffet, Olive’s seafood allergy and Ethan’s caution of buffets leave them the only ones standing. When offered the all expense paid 10 day honeymoon in Hawaii, they both say yes to the trip even if they have to pretend to be married. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

🌺BOOK REVIEW- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5🌺
🌺Pffffshhh. Romance. Yuck. I mean, who wants to read about adorable arch-nemesi (totally a word) who are filled with sarcasm and quick wit. Who wants to then read about aforementioned nemesi having to take a trip to Hawaii together ONLY to be confronted with a possible emerging romantic flame! Oh! And throw in Harry Potter one-liners galore. Ugh. Just gross. Right??? Riiiight???!!! Alright fine. This was utterly wonderful and funny and sweet and Potterish and dramatic and just great. Damn you Kray and your soft heart. Damn you.

🌺Olive and Ami might be twins but they are far from identical. Ami has lived a life of optimism and luck while Olive has gotten by in life with her eternal pessimistic attitude and constant misfortune. That is, until Ami and her entire wedding party and guest list come down with a severe case of food poisoning...everyone except Olive and Ami’s pain in the ass, stuck up new brother-in-law Ethan. Ami and her husband offer their amazingly perfect honeymoon to Olive and Ethan, to Olive’s utter dismay. With reluctance and sheer hatred, Olive and Ethan board a plane to Hawaii where they will spend a “honeymoon” vacation together. What begins as a nightmare slowly morphs into something much less nightmarish. But is it possible that these two bitter enemies might actually enjoy one another’s company...and is it possible that maybe they might enjoy much more???

🌺The book was so damn adorable and I was constantly laughing out loud at the brilliant one-liners. I actually tried to commit some of the comebacks to memory so that I could utilize them in the future (the horcrux comment was a fave!). I adored both Olive and Ethan and all of their flaws. I simply didn’t want the book to end because I was so very invested in every little thing they did and said. So yes...it’s true. I’m saying it out loud once and for all. I love love.

The Unhoneymooners was such a cute romantic comedy. I am a sucker for a story that has two enemies fall in love. I will chalk it up to my peace loving tendencies. Anyway, I enjoyed the way the story unfolded and thought the author did a great job moving the story along with humor and heart. It is interesting to learn the backstory to how Ethan and Olive have become enemies and to see it slowly unfold to them that maybe it wasn't exactly as it seemed. I thought it was the perfect summer read and would recommend packing it in your bag for a nice day reading out at the beach or lake.

The Unhoneymooners gave me some laugh out loud moments, witty comebacks, and an enemies to lovers trope that will have you wanting to see what’s going to happen next. This is my second book from this dynamic duo and even though I didn’t fall head over heels in love with this one, there were still some great moments that I found entertaining.

Olive Torres has had a ton of bad luck that she feels could literally last her a lifetime. Her twin sister on the other hand, is the queen of luck with getting free stuff. When an incident at her sister’s wedding causes everyone but her and her enemy to get sick, Olive’s sister insists that they go on her honeymoon instead of the trip going to waste. Ten days on a romantic vacation with your sworn enemy? What could possibly go wrong?

I enjoyed the heck out of this book for the first 50%. It had some funny moments that felt natural and the flow of it was so easy to get into. I loved Olive and Ethan’s interactions with each other and seeing them in that kind of setting was the best part for me. But…. I did have some issues with the plot line and certain things felt unnecessary to me which hindered my reading experience. I also had a major issue with a side character that made me stabby and I think that if some of those things were eliminated, I would’ve enjoyed the story much more. What didn’t work for me, might just be what makes you fall in love with this book.

Christina and Lauren are known for there fun romantic writing style. This is the perfect summer read. Olive never has good luck however her twin sister Ami is quite the opposite. When everyone at the wedding gets sick from eating shellfish Ami and her groom can no longer attend there Honeymoon. She tells Olive and her Brother in law Ethan to go on the honeymoon. Unfortunately Ethan and Olive hate each other. But after spending time together in Hawaii there feelings begin to change. I love hate to love tropes. this was a very cute summer read!

This book was just what I wanted out of a contemporary romance. Olive is strong, sassy, and she knows who she is and what she wants out of a relationship. She is my favorite kind of heroine because she doesn't take crap from anyone. Olive and Ami have a great relationship in spite of Ami's seemingly perfect life and Olive's tough luck. When Ami and her entire wedding party, except for Olive and the best man, get sick from the wedding buffet it's up to Olive and Ethan to take Ami's once in a life time free honeymoon trip. Their plan is just to ignore each other for 10 days and each have their own perfect vacation. Along the way they learn a lot about each other and themselves. It's funny, it's cute, it's the perfect summertime read. Highly recommend.
