An idiosyncratic and very personal account of the MacKinnon clan of Canada through the eyes of David J MacKinnon, and filtered through his adventures and travels around the world. He shares his thoughts, ideas, likes and dislikes in a series of essays and ruminations on a multifarious range of subjects. I can’t fault the writing, but this sort of random collection just isn’t for me, and although I found some of the essays and many of his opinions interesting, overall I found the book too self-obsessed and self-indulgent to fully engage me.
