I loved this. It was an easy to read and extremely funny.
Cat dated Sam. Sam is Harvey's brother... Off limits I'd say so, however it works. I wasn't cringe or awkward. Their relationship is cute and easy. Yes, Cat has doubts, but to be honest who wouldn't.
I will admit I would have loved more flashbacks to their past, to show their relationship building or Harvey's crush on her.
Overall my favourite relationship within this book is Cat and her best friend Kelly. Oh my god these two! I literally laughed out loud at them. They take the piss out of Kelly's husband, they support each other and they challenge each other. They are the whole package.
I will definitely re-read this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC I was provided in exchange for my fair and honest review.

Let me set the stage: it was late. I had read yet another book of my favorite genre (thriller) only to be totally disappointed by the predictability and cliches. I decided it was time to branch out more, to make a push towards other genres of reading. This book, The One Who's Not the One, sounded like it was the exact book to expand my horizons.

It's a cute book. Honestly, if I sit here and write that it's an epic love story or a moving drama or something that makes it seem deep, you'll be disappointed. It's a fun, quick read that gives you a warm feeling when you read it.

Cat, the protagonist, is a fun, youngish (maybe, I don't actually know except that she's past college: maybe late twenties?) former stand-up comedian. She's a sweet person with a big heart, but she has "Daddy Issues." Because her father abandoned her as a child . . . or did he??? . . . she is afraid to put faith in love and pushes away anyone who gets too close.

Enter an unexpected love story.

Because of the kind of book it is, it's not a spoiler to say that there's a cute, happy feeling that will leave you feeling sort of sappy and happy. The plot is pretty basic, but there's some pretty adorable humor in it that sets it apart from the more generic romance offering. It's NOT a smut book, but there are definitely a handful of PG-13 scenes between our protagonist and her dimpled paramour.

Give it a try. I think you'll like it.

Cat and Sam broke up 5 years ago when Sam upped and left for Australia, leaving Cat single and at a loss as to where it all went wrong. But there again, she's used to that because everyone leaves eventually, don't they? My heart broke for Cat when I realised just how many people seem to have abandoned her during her lifetime. The one person who' s always been there for her is her BFF Kelly. The relationship between Cat and Kelly is one I think we all dream of having; one where you can laugh until you hurt yet can pour your heart out to without fear of judgment when there's no one else to listen. Kelly is pregnant for the second time and while the main story is about Cat and her inability to move her life on since Sam left, we also follow Kelly's comedy nightmare of growing a person inside her and the hilarious observations of the state of being pregnant.

Cat is stuck in a rut in just about every aspect of her life. Then the past comes hurtling into the present when she finds out SAM IS BACK!! He's doing a stand up show just down the road from her; should she go to watch his show and confront her demons or stay away? She's happy as she is...isn't she? That is just the start of her dilemma. Because with that problem comes the issue of Sam's drop dead gorgeous brother Harvey who's off limits by way of being the ex's brother. Right?

We follow Cat and Harvey as they negotiate the emotional minefield of whether it is socially acceptable to get involved with one another. Plus there are the massive assumptions Harvey has made about Arnold, who he meets when he bumps into Cat in John Lewis. His maths skills are pretty switched on but this can still mean 2 plus 2 equalling way more than 4.

Throw in an unexpected career opportunity which would mean a huge upheaval for Cat and her options go from zero to gazillions in a matter of weeks. What should she do? The story follows Cat and her thought processes as she tries to work out what is best for her for once. Funny anecdotes and scenarios are rife throughout this great piece of chick lit (which is a genre I adore, so this is in no way meant as a derogatory term). I chuckled my way through the pages and found myself at the end of the book far too quickly.

My thanks to Noelle Holten for the opportunity to read and review this book as part of the upcoming blog tour. A great, easy, fun read and (yet another) author to add to my list of go-to writers for when I need something to make me smile.

Keris has done it again! I can't emphasis how much I adore Keris' romance novels. I think about them regularly, and return to them to read my favourite scenes when I need something familiar. She creates such a safe and wonderful world, full of strong, realistic female friendships and great romantic leads.

I absolutely loved this book! It is the perfect rom-com to read on a summer holiday! The main character Cat is so funny and relatable and I loved how she developed during the story! Will be reading and purchasing for my library everything that Keria Stainton publishes!

3.5 Funny Stars!!! This author is totally new to me and I was attracted to this book because it reminded me a lot of the sort of Brit Chick Lit I used to read years ago in my late teens and early 20s. This novel delivered 100% on that nostalgia with the best of the British Rom Com chicklit trope world. Meet Cat, a somewhat down on her luck but cute and funny if a little needy and self-sabotaging woman, who gave up her passion for stand up after a bad break up with an ex. Like all the best chick lit, Cat has a fairy godBestFriend, Kelly, who is perfect in every way and more or less Cat’s voice I’d reason. To me, this novel shines the brightest in the exquisite friendship between Cat and Kelly. I love novels that celebrate female friendship and this is certainly one of those. They had the wittiest dialogue and the most unbelievably #friendshipgoals friendship!

This novel is also billed as a romance and the central conflict is supposed to be Cat’s attraction to her ex’s younger brother, after meeting him 5 years post the break up. So, there’s supposed to be a hint of forbidden love, but I found myself not caring isn’t the least about that conflict. In part, it could be that I didn’t “feel the love” and I don’t think this novel handled the romance aspect as well as it did the humor and the more serious themes like abandonment, fear of conflict, family, friendship and forgiveness. There were some pretty weighty themes in this light-hearted book. I just felt very meh about the romance aspect.

Lastly, I received an advance reading copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and I’m not one to say I like a book just because I got it for free. All in all, I enjoyed reading this- I didn’t find it as laugh out loud funny as I would have maybe a decade ago, but it made me smile and I was frequently amused and I would read more by this author.

Given how crazy life is right now, I've been really into fun, easy reads. This one definitely fits the bill as a light, funny romcom. I read it in mostly one sitting and thought it was refreshingly free from the unnecessary drama I often find in women's fiction. The characters were lovely and the romance was sweet to read about. It lacked maybe a little bit of spark, though, but maybe it's because I read it on my phone.

I received this ARC free from NetGalley in exchange for my review. This was exactly as described: an adorable feel-good laugh-out-loud book. It was such a cute story and I loved the authors sense of humor. A truly enjoyable light read.

I didn't expect to fall for this book, but I really did. It's light, a book you can dive into and come out of refreshed. It's also very funny, and the characters were so real. Thoroughly enjoyable read that's the most perfectly written bit of fun. Loved it.

What you gonna do if you fall in love with your ex’s brother? that is the premises offered on this book. it is written beautifully and we will understand the contemplation of single women on their love life. the author nrrate the story very well with a touch of humor here and there because our heroine is a stand up comedy.

Overall the book is enjoyable, funny and worth to read.

I think the fact that I reached the last few chapters before realising I'd taken absolutely no notes for this review speaks for itself. But in case it doesn't, I really really enjoyed it. This was everything I didn’t know I needed for a Sunday afternoon.

It was warm and funny and had excellent characterisation, even for supporting characters like Sean. Cat was thoroughly relatable and the writing really showcased how someone (Cat) can be flawed but remain a relatable, likeable character. The romance wasn't really the focus of the book for me, but it was developed nicely and I felt slightly emotionally invested.

Overall the writing was excellent and I would not only recommend this to others but I'd probably recommend my future self to re-read this.

It's a feel good read that I enjoyed. My usual genre is crime fiction so this was refreshing and funny. Everyone should have a friend like Kelly that has your back regardless. I was given this to read in exchange for my honest opinion and I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review.

Enjoyed this a great deal,

Cat has an office job, shares a flat with slobs who pinch her food and drink, life is pretty dull, though made lighter by her friendship with her best friend and her family.

The story gets interesting when Cat’s ex, a stand up comic who left to go to Australia returns to the area to do standup. Attending the show (despite being recommended not to by her friend) brings her into contact with her ex’s brother, Harvey, who has matured from gawky youth to a very handsome man. Cat and Harvey are mutually attracted to each other but as far as Cat is concerned, you can’t have a relationship with your ex’s brother.

Cat is an extremely likeable character, as are most of the characters in this story.

I raced through this, it was a fun, easy read.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC and giving me the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest review.
