Be Kind is a book that contains lots of small ideas for children to help them be kind to others, show appreciation to teachers and friends, and to help around the house, etc. It is filled with great ideas and its colourful pages makes it fun for children to keep them entertained.

This is a very educational book and is highly recommended for young kids.

Bright, sweet and full of little ways to make the world a better place, Be Kind would be a wonderful present for any pre- or elementary-school-aged child. This book brings great potential for starting and continuing conversations about (and practice in) building empathy, generosity and an understanding of how powerful a tool kindness can be in all aspects of our life.

I loved the breadth of ideas in this book and how actionable and immediate many of them were - it would be a great tool for making acts of kindness a lifelong habit.

My beginner reader did find a few of the fonts used in the book difficult to read, but the vivid colours and simple illustrations made reading through the book inviting and enjoyable. A fantastic way to invest in a brighter, kinder future.

I read Be Kind with my 6 and 8-year-old children. We talk a lot about treating others kindly and this book had so many wonderful and accessible ideas that they could easily add to their daily lives. The illustrations and text were engaging and this was such a positive discussion starter for our family. We will definitely be adding Be Kind to our home library! Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Be Kind by Naomi Shulman has an interesting list type of format, giving kids ideas on how to show kindness to others. The illustrations are cute in a simplest way meaning that they are done without too much busyness to fill the page. Instead the ideas take precedence. The ideas are short one sentence two at the most but convey the attitudes of kindness, thoughtfulness, consideration, thankfulness and helpfulness. They include way to brighter the day for young and older and animals too.

I read the book in several sitting with a preschooler. Not so much because the text was so much but because 125 different ways to show kindness is a lot to take in at one time. The ideas given are not elaborate or difficult to put into practice. However, my very favorite thought is at the beginning when the author suggests that the reader not limit themselves to the ones in the book but to come up with more. What a wonderful idea to intentionally develop the mindset of looking for way to show kindness daily.

I could see a family or a classroom reading one of these ideas a day. When the book is finished then begin again or write their own book by adding new ideas and ways.

This book is a gem! “Be Kind” is a picture book filled with 125 things you can do and say to make the world a happier place. And don’t we all want that, to live in a happier world?

I absolutely love these type of books: books that are positive, encouraging and aiming to teach kids good behaviours. It is even better when they are also this fun! Childhood is so important because that’s when we develop manners and also form our most basic approaches to life. Books like this help guide the younger generation to a better and more positive way of life. This one, paired up with charming illustrations, was just so fun and engaging.

Would highly recommend!

There is nothing in the world more important to me as a mother than that my children are kind. Be Kind is exactly the type of book I like to have around my house for my kids. They enjoy non fiction and I try to model to them to always be kind to others, and this book will take care of both of those things. There are some great ideas in here to create acts of kindness from the very simple like saying good morning or smiling at strangers, to acts of service like doing yard work for a neighbor. There are ideas in here that I wouldn't have thought of so I think it is a good book for children and adults alike. Everyone should have a copy of this awesome book in their home.

This is a lovely book that is full of ideas for how children can do kind things for others. It will appeal to elementary school age children and may help to counteract some of the meanness that occurs regularly in their world. The illustrations are bright, colorful, cheerful and appealing. The suggestions are simply stated. A child could dip into this volume without reading it in order. There are many good ideas to be found. A few examples:

Paint kindness rocks and leave them where they will be found.

Set up a bird feeder. There are directions for how to make one from a pine cone.

Foster a pet.

Set the dinner table without being asked.

Bring two jars of homemade bubbles to the playground. Instructions are included.

Make a welcome card that you and your friends sign (for a new kid in town.)

If these ideas appeal to you and/or you think that they may appeal to a child you know, consider purchasing this book. It would also be a good resource for a school library.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this read in return for an honest review.

Be Kind by Naomi Shulman is an easy to read, easy to share book with any child of any age. The set up of the book lists 125 kind things ANYONE can do. From random acts of kindness, planned acts of kindness, and ways to make the Earth a better place, this book has something for everyone. The lost art of manners and good ole fashion notes can be foreign to some children, this book is a good reminder that even a "thank you" goes a long way. There are plenty of things you can do for anyone - a friend, a stranger, a firefighter, a parent, a teacher, anyone that may need a pick-me-up. There are challenges such as smiling to 3 people one day, the next day 4. This book is a great one to share at any time of the year and would make an excellent gift! I can't wait to have my own hard copy and look forward to its release in June 2019!

In a world increasingly characterized by insults and ugliness, this book shines like a bright light. Its pages are filled with cheerful illustrations and dozens and dozens of practical ways children (and grownups) can be kind to others. From talking to the new kid at school to writing thoughtful notes, it offers plenty of ways to make other people’s day. By donating their time, their toys, or their energy, it shows kids that there are many ways to be generous.

My kids will love living out these acts of kindness. Kindness never goes out of style.

Lovely little picture book about kindness for the youngest readers.
I read this book with my 7 year old, who really enjoyed it! It has bite sized messages about kindness on each page, along with an accompanying picture. It provides a great platform for simple discussions about what is kindness, how can we practice it in our every day life (even without realising it’s actually kindness sometimes!) and what does it mean for us to be kind with ourselves and each other.
It’s very bright, colourful with simple drawings that I think would best appeal to even younger children. I think this book could make an enjoyable read for children from the age of 3-8. The brightness and the simplicity is brilliant for the younger children, whereas the older ones who can read by themselves will enjoy the short but sweet sentences!
I know we will come back to this book over and over again :)

Thank you for NetGalley, the author and the publishers for my free advanced copy to read and review!

A nice little book with ideas for children to show kindness towards others. Kids can easily follow the ideas. I found the layout itself a little distracting. I could see kids struggling to follow along as it is being read.

The best thing about these suggestions is that they can be put into motion by any age group.
