It’s been quite awhile since I revisited the Grizzlies Gone Wild series, but it was so wonderful to be back! I did need to play a little catch up at the beginning to remember what was happening within the world, but it didn’t take long and I was so excited to figure out the mystery from the fourth novel. Right now you might be wondering I didn’t say the fifth book instead and that’s because I accidentally skipped that one. I think it all worked out for the best though, since everything was revealed and resolved. Also, I just really loved Ryan and Frankie and their story! Taming Her Mate was full of action, steam, heartbreaking moments and heart warming ones too — it had it all and if it’s the last book, it was a lovely final addition to an utterly fantastic series!

Detective Ryan Kennedy doesn't have time for distractions. As the only bear shifter on the police force, he's responsible for investigating the cause of the mysterious flu-like illness that's ravaging the citizens of Detroit. But when the beautiful daughter of a rival clan's alpha asks for his help, Ryan realizes that she may hold the key to stopping the virus. If only he can focus on the case and not on how much he wants to kiss the enemy. Francesca Wolf knows who's poisoning the city, and she has a plan to take him down, but it will only work if Ryan follows her lead. Frankie's strong, passionate spirit makes her slow to ask for help, but time is running out and the sexy-as-sin cop won't submit to her demands. Instead, he's giving her orders and firing up her passions just when she needs to stay calm. They'll have to work together-as equals-to save the city, to keep each other alive, and to contain a hunger that might just burn the whole city to the ground.
I started out really liking this story and the first little twist about Francesca threw me. I also had a hard time understanding this world of shifters that was created by the author. Both factors made it hard for me to really get into the story and enjoy it.

This book kept me on my toes. I loved reading the coming together of ryan and frankie. I loved how they came from rival sides but soon came together and in the end everything worked out great for the both of them.

The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.

The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind. Their attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Taming Her Mate offers a new twist on paranormal romance. Ryan Kennedy is as Detroit police detective. He is also a grizzly shifter. Francesca Wolf is a wolf shifter, and the daughter of the alpha of her pack.

Ryan is trying to find the person guilty of poisoning the shifters of Detroit. Francesca is trying to stop her brother, as she knows he's the guilty party.

Sparks fly as the two join forces! Will they successfully stop ther threat? Most importantly, can a wolf and a bear rule a wolf pack together?

I would recommend this title to anyone who likes paranormal romance.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this title to review from Net Galley.

Somewhere along the lines I missed one of these books, but I think you can catch up relatively quickly, even if you’ve read none of the previous books. They are set in an alm0st-post-apocalyptic city, where a “poison” in the water is making people with latent shifter abilities turn into monsters.

We join Detective Ryan, the only shifter on the force, as he tries to track down the source of the contamination. While hot on the trail of a suspect, he ends up finding some goons transporting the “goo” and winds up shot. Francesca Wolf, one of his longtime admirers, ends up stepping in to secret him away. As the daughter of the pack responsible for the poison, she’s been trying to subvert the pack’s plans while winning support for her claim to the alpha spot. Things are obviously not going well, since she’s now in hiding from her brother with a bear shifter who wants to be her mate.

Things in the city are at inferno levels of tension, only made worse by the political positioning happening in the wolf pack. Bears, wolves, and humans are all fighting invisible enemies both within and without their structures and that leads to some pretty frustrating situations. Oh, and there’s some fated mate romance thrown in just to make Francesca’s life even more complicated. This confusing jumble of personalities somehow finds a HEA in all this mess. These books might be a little grittier than romantic, but are still interestingly different than your usual paranormal read.

4.5 Stars

Taming Her Mate is the sixth and final book in Kathy Lyon’s Grizzlies Gone Wild series. While it isn’t necessary to read the whole series, it is necessary to read books four and five (Alpha Unleashed and Bound to the Bear) first. The first three books in the series (The Bear Who Loved Me, License to Shift and For the Bear’s Eyes Only) take place in and around Gladwin, Michigan and the Gladwin State Park. The books are lite, taking place in a setting you want to be in. On the flip side, books four through six are dark, gritty, more violent and take place in Detroit, Michigan. Originally the series was only supposed to be three books. Thus, books one through three have endings for their individual couples, with a story arc playing out over the three books. Books four through six are in essence a new series that I like to call Phase Two. Again, the individual couples have their own endings and there is also a story arc playing out over the course of the three books.

Phase Two takes place in Detroit where people are becoming sick and some are even dying. Some people have become disfigured and have turned into monsters. The CDC has dubbed the illness the Detroit Flu. The city has been quarantined, left to fend for itself, with no one coming in or getting out. The bear shifter clan known as the Griz under their new alpha has figured out how people in the city are being poisoned. They even know their rivals are behind it. What they don’t know is where the poison is being stored or how to truly stop them.

Detective Ryan Kennedy is a bear shifter and the only shifter on the Detroit police force. He’s been working tirelessly for the past week, with little to no sleep, trying to end the poisoning and get the city back to normal. Ryan has been betrayed by everyone in his life. In fact, within the last week, he was almost killed by his former alpha. Ryan has lost the ability to trust anyone and with humans not knowing about shifters, Ryan finds himself in the sewers below the city alone, chasing two wolf shifters.

Francesca “Frankie” Wolf knows who is ultimately behind the poisoning in Detroit that has made people sick, turned some shifters into hybrids (half human, half shifter) and made full shifters stronger and more aggressive. She has a plan to end the poisoning and get the city back to normal. She just needs help to do so. When she stumbles upon Ryan in the sewer, she knows he’s a good man and that he alone is the only person who can help her. When she realizes he’s dying she knows she has to save him. But to do so, she must turn to the Griz clan, the sworn enemy of her Wolf pack, and hope they believe her.

Together, Frankie and Ryan battle to save the city and bring those involved to justice. In the process, they discover the attraction between them is too strong to be ignored. The two risk being cast out of their groups because of their crossbreed involvement. These two are simply amazing. Frankie is all heart and passion. She’s a fighter, who’s tough as nails, but prefers to use her head instead of her fists. She prefers to see the good in people and is always thinking of others before herself. Ryan simply longs to be accepted and loved for who he is. He is driven to serve and protect every single person and shifter.

At times, I found Taming Her Mate to be a little slow. There were moments where I lost interest in the story. But I can not deny that the story is well written. This completes Phase Two with a nice little bow on top. But don’t be fooled. This was a gritty, violent, and heartbreaking story. It would have been nice to see more interaction between all the shifters in Detroit after the fallout.

Book Title: Taming Her Mate
Author: Kathy Lyons

***ARC was provided to me by Net Galley and the Publisher for a fair and honest review***

Overall rating: 4/5 If you like shifter romance (and if you like the previous 5 installments) this is a good read.

Heroine (Francesca “Frankie” Wolf): 3.5/5 The daughter of an Alpha wolf that never shifted. She has the desire and ability to lead the pack but lacks the ability to turn into a wolf. She is stubborn and doesn't want help in reaching her goals. Or perhaps more accurately doesn’t want to need help in reaching her goals. She has a bit of an inferiority complex about not being able to shift.

Hero (Ryan Kennedy): 5/5 He is a full shifter bear and is a cop in the gang unit. He feels isolated from his clan as he has a history of being betrayed by those he loves. However he is fiercely protective of those he cares about and wants to build a family of his own.

Plot: 4/5 Ryan is investigating who is poisoning the water and making the whole city sick with the ‘flu’. He tracks some wolf shifters down and gets shot in that confrontation and meets Frankie who rescues him. The drug they Together they try to get their hands on proof of who is adding the drug to the water, but can they keep their hands off each other along the way?

Personal Review: I really enjoyed the story, I liked the banter between Ryan and Frankie. They suit each other well. I do wish the pair felt a little more for each other before Ryan was injected with the serum.

What does the serum actually do? Amplify whatever some one is currently feeling or their deeper desires? For Frankie is was clearly a deep rooted desire to be seen that was amplified, but if playing by the same rules Ryan should have had the desire to not have his trust be trampled on instead of just having his lust for Frankie be amped up.

‘Taming HIS Mate’ would have been a better title in my opinion however the connotation would have been a bad PR move. But it is not Ryan that needed to come around to the idea of being together. Frankie was the one who is slow getting to that party.

If you like par-normal than this book is perfect for you. It has intrigue, a wolf and bear shifter that are finding it a little hard to concentrate on the job at hand. Which is saving the city. I couldn't put it down so you want to prepare for that. Thanks, NetGalley for letting me enjoy this book.

What’s causing the flu like symptoms everyone is having? Could it be, shock! contamination? Who would do such a thing? That is what we find Ryan Kennedy, Detective trying to figure out. Who is he? Only a bear shifter and a member of the police department. Then of course there is Francesca Wolf (Frankie). Guess what she is a member of? The Wolf Clan. Can they find out who is putting the poison in the water? Is it Frankie’s brother? Her father? Why are they doing this? Will they find true love or is it just lust? The only way to find out it to read the book.
I enjoyed the story. The writing was spot on and kept your attention. I would recommend this to those that enjoy paranormal stories.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC for an honest opinion of this story.

As the only bear shifter on the Detroit police force, Detective Ryan Kennedy doesn’t have time for distractions, but the beautiful daughter of a rival clan’s alpha has asked him for help in this riveting, emotionally gripping and sassy read. Ryan and Francesca are two strong characters who enthrall readers with the sparks that fly everywhere throughout this romance. Not only are they from rival clans, but to begin with Ryan believes that Francesca is just as guilty as her family in the troubles that face the city and the shifters which keeps attitudes a bit snarky, defensive, emotionally charged and intense but the attraction is undeniable and the more he gets to know, the more he wants to believe that she truly wants to put a stop to what her family is doing.

The plot is fast paced with lots of thrills and suspenseful surprises to keep readers glued to their seats. The clashes of stubborn wills and the firing up of passions adds lots of entertainment to this story including a some sassy dialogue that invite readers to chuckle as Ryan and Francesca strive to work together as equals in order to save the city. Readers can’t this book down once they start reading it and they should beware of the sparks that just might burn the city to the ground and the climatic conclusion that causes some jaws to drop in surprise.

This is one of my favorite shifter series. I was glad that Ryan got his shifter HEA. Frankie was the perfect mate for him. This was a great wrap-up to the series.

I would recommend this book

She is the daughter of the local wolf alpha and she needs the help of bear shifter Ryan Kennedy to try to solve the mystery of the flu like epidemic affecting all in Detroit. Ryan is the only shifter on the Detroit police force and Francesca(Frankie) Wolfe as long admired the wok of this detective bear shifter but for them to solve the mystery he needs to listen to her. Can two such dominant people learn to work together and as they learn to trust one another will more develop between them You will need to read to see. This is the sixth book in the series and even though it can be read as a stand alone I do think it is far better to read it as a series.

Grizzlies Gone Wild #6, The conclusion to the Detroit Flu/Bears vs. Wolves story arc. I didn't realize that when I first started reading and felt lost so I went back and read the previous two and got all caught up. I love this series, I love the slow process between bear to man it takes them mentally, especially when they have been bear for too long or how they can't shift more than once a day unless you're a powerful alpha and now one of the hybrid shifters, assuming they didn't go crazy. The poison being dumped into the water supply activates dormant shifter DNA causing anyone with the latent gene to become a hybrid shifter, with it comes the risk of brain damage and unless they can figure the shift out they die. When shifters drink the water it amps up their already existing powers especially in the undiluted form.

Detective Ryan Kennedy, who just days ago was about to be killed by his alpha, is about to break the case about where the wolves are dumping the poison in the water when he gets attacked by two wolf shifter jacked up on the poison making them stronger and more vicious. Francesca Wolf is the daughter of the wolf pack Alpha, she knows who is really behind this and has been trying to stop them and get the pack to support her. Frankie is able to save Ryan but just barely, now the two are working together to stop the responsible party. But between the lust and his bear wanting to mate with Frankie and the fact that Ryan wants to take down everyone responsible and Frankie who wants just the one person behind it all to be held responsible, oh, and Frankie thinking she can handle it on her own they are fighting an uphill battle.

The relationship between Ryan and Frankie steams up the pages. But they are both uncertain if they can even mate bond because he's a bear and she's a wolf. I enjoyed the pairing between Frankie and Ryan they were a good match.

Overall, fantastic book. Kathy Lyons with the whole series has created addictive storylines, characters you care about, a great mysteries, and a steamy romance. I loved the whole series and I really hope it's not over yet.

If you follow me then you know how much I love my bear shifters. They along with tigers are my favorites. They are just so sexy! I've really been enjoying this series by Kathy Lyons, It includes all the things I enjoy in my shifters stories. Shifter stories are the only ones that I believe in instant love.

I kinda got the feeling from this story that the series is ending with it. Which makes me both happy and sad. Sad if it's all over, but happy that we hopefully will get something new.

I really enjoyed Taming Her Mate. Both Ryan and Frankie are fun characters to read. You feel their instant attraction and at the same time know they feel they should fight it. They might be mates but that doesn't mean it's all smooth sailing.

I will say that it took me a bit to get into this one. There is a slow build into the story for me. At first, I wasn't too happy with that but then the story picked up and I forgot all about it until I wrote this review.

If you like stories with girrrrl power Taming Her Mate is for you. Francesca Wolf is a wolf shifter doing what she can to keep her alpha father and her brother from destroying their pack and the city. Grizzly shifter Detective Ryan Kennedy doesn’t trust anybody but he does admire Francesca. When they meet the chemistry is terrific and they are one of my favorite couples in this series.
