This was a unique twist on the Mail-Order bride theme. Each of the four novella give the reader a look at what could have gone wrong. These were well written stories showing the need to "buck" up and make the best out of the situation handed to you. The women in this book faced challenges from a finance in jail, a groom who has never heard of her, an outlaw husband who faked their marriage, and the wrong groom due to a letter mix-up,

Knowing that with four authors I was being offered novellas, and I can take a break for a while and consume one, which I love, well, let me warn you, once you finish one you will begin cheating and before you know it you engaged in the next.
I love how these author’s minds worked and these all seem to have a different twist to them, and meant page-turning for answers and sure to get your attention.
A don’t miss sweet read!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour, and was not required to give a positive review.

Mail Order Mishaps is a fun series of stories that are fun to read! In the first story, the prospective bridegroom is arrested while he awaits his bride's train! In the second, the prospective bridegroom has no clue that he has a mail order bride! (fun story) In the third, the bride marries the man, but soon discovers that not only is he abusive, but an outlaw as well. After he is killed in a robbery, she finds a job working for a man taking care of his sister. In the last story (my personal favorite) is about the bride getting the wrong reply. She meets him anyway, and she works for him for a month. Four great stories!

Mail-Order Bride stories are usually a hit or miss for me. But when a newspaper ad incites a few misunderstandings with moving and sometimes hilarious moments. These four sweet stories make for a fun and enjoyable weekend read.

4 very enjoyable stories, that are easy to get into and hard to put down. All heartwarming and will bring a smile to your face.
The Bride’s Dilemma by Susan Page Davis
Eva is on her way to Cheyenne to meet up with her soon to be husband. Problem is, she finds out he’s in jail when she arrives. As she sets out to question people she finds some aren’t happy with her probing, but also makes an unlikely friend. Lovely story that keeps the pages turning as Eva goes about trying to solve who the real culprit is.
Romancing the Rancher by Linda Ford
Amelia arrives in Broken Arrow planning to marry Zach. Problem is, he’s telling her he didn’t write the letters. He convinces her to write to another person seeking a mail order bride but at the same time he is convinced by the postmaster to take Amelia and her little girl Daisy back to his ranch so she has a place to stay in the interim. Loved the characters and an easy to read story.
The Marriage Sham by Vickie McDonough
Zola’s marriage wasn’t what she hoped. When she learns her husband of 4 months is dead, and he was a robber on top of that, she despairs of what to do. When Evan comes into town looking for a new caretaker for his sister as well as someone to keep house, he decides to risk bringing Zola into the fold. Beautiful story with likeable characters.
The Galway Girl by Erica Vetsch
Maeve has hired on for the kitchen help, but has troubles with the bosses son. She sends in a reply to a grocer in Chicago looking for a wife, but gets tickets from another man, written to a lady named Trudy. Things get interesting and the story keeps moving along. A fitting conclusion to an enjoyable series.

Mail-Order Mishaps by Susan Paige Davis, Linda Ford, Vickie McDonough, and Erica Vetsch is four stories of mail-order brides that have gone astray. In the first story the bride arrives in Wyoming to find her future husband in jail on murder charges. Will he be found innocent? In the second one the bride arrives in the Montana Territory to find the supposed groom knows nothing about the arrangement and he insists he did not write the letters. He does need assistance at his ranch with a defiant younger sister and father who tends to wander off so he agrees to hire her to help. The third story takes place in Texas in 1888 where the bride has been the victim of a marriage scam and is abused. She is not particularly saddened when her husband dies while robbing a stagecoach but will she be able to find work to support herself? The last story begins in Boston where Maeve is an Irish maid being stalked by her mistress’ son. She responds to an ad for a mail-order bride out west and when she is fired for fighting back against the son, she takes the ticket sent to the wrong person and shows up in Kansas to a groom expecting a Swedish bride. He needs help with his grandmother so Maeve agrees to work for one month to pay back the price of the ticket.
I loved these stories! At times funny and at times heartbreaking as the brides struggle so much before traveling to a groom and find more struggles. Each story is well-written with characters that are very realistic. There are some surprise twist and turns along the path to true happiness and keeps the reader engaged. I give this book 5 of5 stars and recommend it to everyone who likes to read Christian based romance novels.

Great book about using the situations God puts you in for good :)
The fisrt story in this book is about a bride who steps off the trail and finds her soon to be husband in jail. Definitely a mishap. I loved how the lead character wasn't afraid to help and go out of her comfort zone.
The second book is one of my favorite books in the series. Its about a young couple set upon by a matchmaker. A wonderful about healing families.
The third book is about a bride who was tricked and had to make her way again, a great story.
Finally the forth book, what a lovely way to end a series!!! A fiery Irish red head who needs to escape her situation and uses the opportunity God gave her to escape. When she gets there she meets a Swedish man .... so cool.
I would highly recommend reading this book :)

I enjoy reading mail-order bride novels. I found this collection, Mail-OrderMishaps even more delightful. The stories are about four young ladies in the late 1800's who have responded to an ad in the Matrimonial News paper. Things did not turn out as expected for them. All have had family lose and are facing desperate consequences. By answering the ad, each hope to find a descent man, settle down out west and start a family. By facing the obstacles thrown at them, they demonstrate what brave, strong, and courageous women they are. The stories all have a thread of faith throughout the entire story. I had read one of the stories before, but enjoyed it as much the second time around. If you like clean western romance, you will love these. It is so refreshing to read a book that I can pass on to my daughter and granddaughter and not be afraid of the content. Vickie McDonough, Linda Ford, Erica Vetsch and Susan Page Davis are authors I can always count on for clean, wholesome content. Thank you ladies.

Mail-Order Mishaps was one of the best collection of Christian novellas that I've read in awhile. Usually in an anthology there is a particular story that will stand out as not being as good, but each of these stories had complex characters, an interesting premise, and was well-written. This is definitely a title that I look forward to re-reading in the future!

My daddy worked for the postal service for thirty years and we always joked that the postal service went to pot when he retired. But according to these novellas, postal service wasn't too hot back in the late 1800s. Each of these stories revolve around a personal ads newsletter called Matrimonial News, and the mistaken notions the brides have about their prospective husbands. Each of the brides have to navigate choppy waters to come to the ends of the lines set before them.

Barbour Books gathers some of the best Novella authors to write these stories. The four stories are comfortable and like cuddling up with an old, favorite blanket. This is a Five-Star Book, with two thumbs up, and a cup of tea to drink while you read.

My thanks to Barbour Books for allowing me to read and review this book.

Four young women find their situations turned upside down in this unique collection of mail order bride stories! A brave group of women in desperate circumstances demonstrate faith, ingenuity, and a 'can-do' attitude to finally get their home-sweet-home.

Set in the Midwest during the last quarter of the 1800's, when men were men, and women worked really hard to keep everything going smoothly on the home front. They all suffered huge losses, men and women both, driving them to risk a relationship with a stranger based on letters. I can hardly imagine the courage that would take! It was a good set up for faith lessons, as they learned that God is faithful, he does not abandon his own, he has a plan and it is for good.

"The circumstances of our lives change. Sometimes they are almost more than we can bear. But God doesn’t change... God will never leave us or forsake us.”

I enjoyed all of these shorter tales, especially the last one by Erica Vetsch pairing a big, stoic Swedish farmer with a spunky Irish immigrant. It was a bit more complex with an extra bride-to-be showing up unexpectedly! All of the stories were well written, but a few felt like they ended rather abruptly with an 'instalove' type romance; that was a place to begin a long term relationship though.

Fans of clean historical romances with some faith should enjoy these quick, entertaining tales.

The Mail-Order Mishaps are four stories of four different women, dealing with different experiences with the Mail-Order Bride. Through mishaps and events that didn't quite work out love always finds a way to work out in the end. The Mail-Order Mishaps has sweet and cute stories that are quick. The love stories do not feel rushed or fake and I immensely enjoyed the stories.

I received a copy of Mail-Order Mishaps by Susan Page Davis, Linda Ford, Vickie McDonough, and Erica Vetsch from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first anything by all of the aforementioned authors that I have read, but the novel's summary intrigued me so I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. All of the authors' stories were enjoyable and very different from one another. The dialogue between the characters (primary characters as well as secondary) was entertaining and the main characters' chemistry was believable given the time period and context.
