I enjoyed this guide book. The book is divided into regions. Within each region a there are variety of underground attractions. And there is a lot of variety, from natural caves, historical archeological sites and man made war bunkers. The book includes a history of the attraction as well as practical visiting information. I really liked the information on what to expect when visiting and the best times to visit. There are also a lot of a lot of photographs. The book is a good practical travel guide for anyone who wants to see a different part of England but it is also a fun book to read for arm chair traveling. Enjoy this unique travel guide

In my opinion, this is a very cool book! It is perfect for travelers to Britain who would like to have unique experiences. The author of this book has visited 50 underground sites across the British Isles. He has organized the book by regions including The North, The Midlands, The Southeast, The Southwest, Wales and Scotland. You can vicariously visit sites related to WWII, a mining museum, caverns, Churchill's War Rooms, The Roman Baths, King Arthur's Labyrinth and so much more.

The author has a knack for bringing each of these locations to life. Each entry includes helpful information such as location, hours, website information, etc. Each place described has additional sections including Spotlight and Going Deeper. Furthermore, the photographs throughout truly enhance the text.

When I finished browsing this book, I so wanted to be starting a vacation. You will want to as well.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a unique travel guidebook. I enjoyed it.

Fantastic, fully illustrated travel guide to some amazing underground destinations in the UK. The book's tour begins with the Stockport Air Raid shelters that tell of life during the War, and ends with the Spey Bey Icehouse that tells of how important Salmon was to the community. Stops along the way include war rooms, musician's hangouts, sewers, and mines. This is a wonderful opportunity to see places that you may not be able to visit.

Thank you NetGalley and Bloomsbury for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy.

A beautifully illustrated guide to fascinating locations in underground Britain that are available for the visitor to explore. Highlights are provided in this guide giving you a taste of attractions such as World War II bunkers and air raid shelters, mine shafts, and the history of the Beatles in the recreated Cavern Club. I especially enjoyed that each attraction has an overview and then more detail in a Going Deeper section. Location, hours, and website are provided for each attraction so the reader may obtain additional details for planning a visit. My only complaint is a lack of information about accessibility. I would love to see just a comment about any sites that do not require steps or have elevators or ramps available for those requiring them. However, information about access is usually very specific at each website including number of steps, inability to accommodate wheelchairs or baby buggies, etc. All in all this a great guide to alternative attractions for those visiting The UK for the second or third time or those with specific interests such as caves, mining, the Blitz, etc.

I found this to be a great travel book. The descriptions of the sites convinced me that I wanted to visit them. There were so many cool sites! I appreciate pictures in non-fiction books of any kind, but necessary in a travel book and the ones in Days Out Underground were excellent. While I may never get to visit any of these places (though I want to), I still found this to be a fun book to enjoy,
