I read this after her upcoming book, but was (not suprisingly) a huge fan! I had to stifle my laughter, hide some tears and stop nodding my head in agreement as I stared at my kindle. Reminds me of Melanie Shankle with her southern wit and wisdom.

Lewis captures a snippet of life as a small town girl growing up amidst a series of challenges. Her family stories are relatable and even the most difficult situations become inspiring. Her positive attitude radiates in her writing. She shares her faith in a natural way that spoke to me. A great choice for anyone needing to laugh despite heartbreak and pain.

Y'all this is so funny. Having grown up hearing things like 'crooked as a dog's hind leg' and 'not gonna hurt his back totin his brains' I can relate to how she talks as well as the culture she's living in. I live the easy she's so likable and Good users that to reach people. She reminds me of a much loved aunt and I bet even Yankees can relate to her ;).

I absolutely loved this book. Not only do I live in Tennessee but I have grown up in the South my entire life. I felt right at home with this book with ya'll said frequently, sweet tea in the refrigerator being mentioned and southern wisdom throughout. Can't Make this Stuff Up is full of stories that we can all relate to and Susannah's walk with God is amazing. I loved all the scripture throughout her book and the stories that go along with the scripture. She is just a simple mom on a journey with God and telling her story. Susannah is a blogger and writer which all started from reading a childhood book at the age of 8 and with a Little Debbie in one hand and a writing tool in the other she decided to start her creative writing. This is a book that can be enjoyed by young and old.

Some of my favorite quotes from her book and hopefully I remember them correctly are as follows.

"Long after we are gone our stories will live on."
"We need to cheer up instead of dry up."
"Love the ones your with."
"Dramamine is not a reliable form of birth control."
"How often do we say yes out of dedication.... do we leave room for dessert and rest?"
"Never in the wrong place to serve God."
" It's nice to go for a walk and not smell like bacon bits."
"Time to move to a town with a Target"
"We must never be satisfied with our walk with God."

Susannah's book is a must read. It is easy and fun to read. You will laugh and cry in the same breath. Sometimes we just need to simply enjoy life and not fill each and everyday with the in/outs of life and simply soak in the goodness that God provides each and every day. Find the joy that only God can radiate throughout our day. I feel like this is a book that I will reread and highlight. In fact, I have already ordered my physical copy of this wonderful book. Great for a friend, yourself, a coworker or a neighbor. With her southern wisdom, charm, and life lessons you will smile and enjoy every minute while reading.

Thank you to Netgalley for my early galley. All opinions are my own!

Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book for an honest review. I found Susannah on Facebook a couple of years ago through one of her hilarious viral blog posts. She is hilarious yet serious about sharing the love of Jesus with everyone around her and this book is no exception. I love how she makes light of funny Southern/family situations but is also able to share her heart when she talked about how she dealt with becoming an orphan at 34 and how she was able to help others through grief. Those parts really resonated with me as my dad passed away suddenly 2 years ago. The only negative about this e-book was that the formatting was thrown off in most of the book so paragraphs were backwards and you really had to pay attention for it to make sense and sometimes it just didn't make sense because words were missing. I'm hoping it was because it was an ARC and will be fixed in the final version. Otherwise, I highly recommend reading this book by the "New Erma Bombeck".

CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!

FINDING THE UPSIDE TO LIFE’S DOWNS

BY SUSANNAH B. LEWIS

HARPER COLLINS

THOMAS NELSON

CHRISTIAN

PUB DATE 09 APR 2019

I am reviewing a copy of Can’t Make This Stuff Up through Thomas Nelson and Netgalley:

Millions of fans turn to Susannah B Lewis’s hilarious, take no prisoner videos that capture her loud and funny personality along with deeply faithful look at the world.

In Can’t Make This Stuff Up Susannah brings us her keen eye for the absurd as she tells tales from growing up in Tennessee. In the form of a book she shares stories like the time an escaped Albino Panther wandered into her back yard to the The Thanksgiving when an egg from the centerpiece of the table hatched into a baby chick to the kind neighbors who brought casseroles not just for months after her Father died when she was eleven but for years.

The Stories she shares in this book deeply delve into the rich culture of the south, the culture that molded her. She shares of how she clung to the Lord in times of grief, and embraced every opportunity to laugh.

I found Can’t Make This Stuff Up to be both deeply personal and inspirational dealing with everything from Grief to laughter.

Five out of five stars!

Happy Reading

I loved this book and will be giving one to my sister who loves reading books like this. I received an advanced copy of your book to review. It is amazing! I love a funny book that will make you laugh AND cry. You said it could make us do both and I thought, "really?!". Then just about 20 minutes in, I cried. It was a hilarious book that makes you stop to reflect Gods word and your own family. I'm not sure anyone has as many hilarious family stories as you, but it nice to look back and reflect on your own family's memories. Thanks so much for your and your publisher for sharing!! I highly recommend this fun read to everyone. I love the reflections on scriptures and showing ordinary talents CAN be used for God's work.

While I love her blog and what I could put together of this book, it was broken up in so many places that it was difficult to read.

I'm going to give this three stars and say that when it's cleaned up it should be a great read. After all there is nothing better than humor, God's word and an emotional roller-coaster to get through and fortify others.

If you haven't seen one of "Whoa Susannah's" videos, you have been missing out. I first came across her hilariousness on Facebook and was an instant fan. So when I heard that she was writing a book, I was so excited! I had such high hopes for this book, and let me tell you, this book exceeded my expectations. It is everything I thought it would be and more! I laughed and I cried and I followed Susannah's advice and "cried until I laughed." This book is so funny, but also so meaningful. I felt like I could just hear Susannah's voice telling these stories as I read. I would love to have an audio book of her reading this! Susannah has such a way with words and such a wonderful outlook on life. She is open and real, and did I mention hilarious?? I absolutely loved hearing about Susannah's life, especially her sweet relationship with her mother. Her stories are so vivid and descriptive that it makes you feel like you are experiencing them as well. I also love that Susannah's favorite story to tell is the one about how God gave His only son to save us and there is nothing we can do to change the greatness of His love for us!

Whoa Susannah, you are a treasure and your mama was so right when she said you were a fabulous storyteller. Thank you for sharing all your stories with us!

I liked this well enough. It’s another biblical memoir about how to overcome the saddest things because of Jesus. Most of this stuff I already know. I can’t make this stuff up! ;) thanks netgalley!
