I realized too late that this the second book in a series that I have not actually read. Therefore, while I read the first couple of chapters I did not find the characters incredibly engaging and did not make it much further into the book.

I like the story line and the characters ( the sister especially) but the dialogue is a bit stilted and some of the scenes were set well where others were a bit lacking.

Welcome to this book review,
I received a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
This book is a sequel, yes I do tend to sometimes forget to notice these small details when a concept captivates my attention too much.
While I did have to refer to other people's review of the first book to understand certain events that I should've know, this book was really enjoyable. It was a lovely story packed with action and romance that pulled my heartstrings in the best way. While there were some issues with events that I would've enjoyed if they had been longer, or shorter in some cases. The overall story made for a nice and quick read that left you satisfied, the main issue I had with this book is the way the author used modern aspects or way to say things which made it hard to stay fully immersed in the time period the story was happening in.
While I love romance, and wished there had been more between Xavier and Thomas, I loved how deep and really the friendships and familial love were portrayed in this story (not to say that the action wasn't sometimes gory and intense), it gave dimension to the characters whether it be the main ones or the side characters.
Overall good book,
while I would've enjoyed a more just use of vocabulary or actions for the time period, the story was well made and if gay Vampire gory romance sounds like something you would enjoy then totally pick this up !
I ultimately gave this book a 3.5/5 stars.
Thank you for reading,
Bookarina.
