Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for my advanced ebook copy. I enjoyed getting to know Kat and even though she had been diagnosed with a personality disorder how fiercely protective she felt towards her daughter. You follow Kat as she investigates what happened to Grace realising that she hadn't known everything about her life even though they were close. Had these secrets killed her? Was she now in danger? I had to keep reading as I needed to know as much as Kat did about what really happened. Grace wasn't the only one with secrets. I love a plot twist that shocks me even if it's tough to face. A good book group choice. |

I received a digital ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book, though occasionally I did find myself getting distracted from it. It was quite a slow build up but once things unravelled, the pace quickened and I couldn't put it down. I'll definitely read more by this author again. |
I was disappointed to be honest. Its a good thriller but it just didn’t do it for me. I felt that it didn’t grip me from the start. When I read over reviews that said it was a page turner it wasn’t for me. |
Only Daughter was another of those books that once I start reading I can not put down. A great psychological thriller with twists and turns that hooked me in. A fab book. |
What a rollercoaster of a book! Every book I have read from this author has been gripping. The story is about a young girl Grace that commits suicide, however her mum Kat does not believe that her daughter would do this and was intact murdered. Kat begins her own investigation which takes her right back to her own troubled past. A truly brilliant read with lots of twists and turns along the way that kept me guessing right up to the explosive end! |
What a book! I couldn’t put it down, such a page turner! I love this authors books & feel they continuously get better. I know I’m never going to be left disappointed. I can’t wait to see what she does next! |
I would give this book 3.5 stars. This was a really interesting thriller. I really enjoyed the psychological aspects of the novel surrounding the main character's diagnosis vs her love for her daughter and slowly discovering more of the main character's back story as well as more about her daughter's life. |
This was such a page-turner. Sarah A Denzil really makes you question everyone and everything. A perfect thriller. I adored the depth of the characters and the realism of conditions. Fantastic world-building and original. Off I go to devour the next one. |
This was very hokey to me. Everything seemed too poetic and the writing was just decent. I wouldn’t recommend this to friends. |
Thrilling story, great plot and characters that keep you guessing right til the end. Great for fans of this genre. |
Dark mystery that sucks you into a different place. A nightmare where no one wants to be. Good read. Can’t put it down. Wondering where it’s going to go And which way to turn |

Parents only see the side of their children they want to see. The good student that volunteers may not be what the rest of the world knows. Sarah Denzil has built a story based on this fact. When Grace is notified that her daughter is dead from a suspected suicide, Grace refuses to believe the child she knows and loves would do this. The story moves quickly from this point as Grace has to reconcile her own past with the life she thought she'd built for her family. With characters the reader can easily identify with and a story line that is not quite what you expect, this was a good read. |
Many years ago, Kat buried her secrets and restarted her life as a wife and mother. When her 17 year old daughter Grace is discovered in a popular suicide spot, she knows it was murder and she'll do anything to prove it. Through her investigation, she discovers her daughter had secrets of her own, and perhaps she really didn't know Grace like she thought she did. This thriller was a surprisingly emotional tale of grief and revenge, and though you don't really know much about most of the characters they were all fleshed out in a way that made the dark subject matter easy to read. Not my favorite book of the year but still a stunning psychological thriller. *I received a copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for my review. |

Kat’s daughter Grace has comitted suicide, but Kat is convinced its a murder. She looks to many people, husband Charles, best friend Alicia, and boyfriend Ethan. Someone knows Kat is in the case and she is receiving annymous text messgaes. But then Lily makes contact.....this book has many twists and turns, a riveting read. |
This was a psychological thriller, but so much more at the same time. There were some real layers to this book and I was enthralled the entire time. Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. |
OK, Wow!!! Sarah Denzil sure knows how to write a story that will catch your attention hook line and sinker. I felt sure that this was going to be one of those stories that I could figure out from the very beginning what was going to happen, but no way! Not with this one! Kat is a woman that has a very dark past and has been through just about everything you can think of. When Kat got pregnant with Grace, it was an accident and Kat knew that she had to learn how to love this baby that she had to take care of. Not only did Kat learn how to love Grace, but would do anything in the world for her. When she receives the news that Grace was found dead in a quarry, Kat vows to find her killer, When Kat is given the news that they think Grace committed suicide, she still vows to find her killer. There is no way that Grace could have killed herself or had any reason to, Kat is sure of that. When Kat starts digging into Grace's life and talking to her friends and the parents of her friends, Kat wonders if she even knew her daughter. This monster that they are painting Grace to be could not have been her daughter. Not the daughter she knew at least! I had no idea where this story was going to take us readers, but let me just tell you, I never guessed the ending. We are taken on a long and twisted story for Kat to find out what was really going on with Grace. I was glued to this story until I finished it. Sarah Denzil sure does know how to write to keep your attention. I am a fan of hers for sure! I can't wait to see what is in store for us readers from her next! Great job with this one! Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this story. All opinions are my own! |
