Like many of my friends, I practically idolize Elaine Welteroth and was thrilled to read an early copy of her book, which exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommend for any fellow fans. |
Disclaimer I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley I've been waiting for this memoir for a while. Elaine Welteroth is a personal heroine of mine. She was the first non white editor of Teen Vogue and shifted majorly the focus of the magazine for the better. Her career as an editor and journalist is all I knew but I wanted learn more about her journey. This book doesn't disappoint. There is advice and personal anecdotes blended effortlessly. Her voice is strong and specific. There were several stories that had an surprising relevance to conversations with friends about media brainwashing women's expectations of themselves. Her advice in those moments especially resonated. I also valued extremely her candor relating to her identity struggles being mixed race. I have heard similar struggles from friends. I know from social media that other people have overwhelmingly related to those stories specifically. |
Elaine Welteroth has never been a stranger to storytelling built on sharing one's truth..in her debut memoir, More Than Enough, Welteroth not only reflects on her historic professional rise, but also discusses the triumphs and pitfalls of navigating everything from relationships to dreams to careers in a world that often wants women to believe they are not as capable as their male counterparts. Throughout it all, Welteroth's message has stayed the same: "The very things you underestimate about yourself will help you create your own magic...you are more than enough." |
