Marion Hill has written a good fantasy , but it just fell a little flat for me. I wanted to love it.

This is solidly written and gets the job done, but is just not my cup of tea. I do read fantasy, but this seems to be missing the ingredient X. I was not drawn in and did not finish the book. I didn’t quite believe the world that the writer built.

Familiar ~ Adventurous ~ Quick
tl; dr: Diondray goes on a quest, thanks to a book he found, in order to restore the former glory of his home.

I picked up this book b/c I loved the Akita witch series. This book is nothing like that book. The writing is adequate and the pacing is solid. The book just doesn't quite sing for me. I think this might be because the world-building didn't feel complete. I wanted more detail and atmosphere. This book would be good for someone who wants a fast-paced fantasy that isn't mired in details.
