I hadn't heard too much about this book before diving in (just that it was a pretty big hit in Pine's native Ireland), but was pleased to find a collection of essays that was thought-provoking, deeply relatable, and accessible. Pine speaks on her life experiences ranging from an alcoholic father to her struggles with infertility to her career as an academic lecturer in a male-dominated field.
Pine writes with this open honesty that I found really refreshing, and it made me want to keep reading at a quick pace. This is a short book, but it packs a lot of punch. I hope that Pine publishes more nonfiction like this - it feels like she has so much more to share with the world.
