It was a big slow going in the beginning for me; however, once it picked up I had a hard time putting it down. The plot definitely keeps you guessing throughout the book right until the end. I didn't know who the bad guy was, who was the cheater, or how it all made sense until the last few chapters. It definitely kept me guessing, which I always like.

That is what I like about Sandie Jones. She is an amazing author whose writing style gets you interested right from the beginning. I feel like she keeps you guessing until late in the book before you know 100% what will happen. I like that because I don't like books that are predictable. I want that element of surprise!

I think I liked her first book "The Other Woman" better, but this one is definitely worth a read.

Fabulous read! The first half is the point of view of Alice, then in he second half it's Beth's. Quite a difference in the stories but and a terrific ending! Sandie Jones is quickly becoming a favorite of mine!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, from beginning to end. The story line took a bit of working out at times as it jumps around a lot and you have to keep track of what's going on now and then. But overall, a good read.

Readable and enjoyable. Ideal beach read as you can get through it in one sitting. But somewhat forgettable.

Alice Davies is a successful businesswoman trying to juggle her company, her two children, and her husband, Nathan. All while still mourning the death of her first husband, Thomas. She loves Nathan and together they have built a good life for their family. But recently she has suspicions that he is not being faithful to her. He dismisses her accusations and acts as if the depression that hospitalized her after Tom's death is back, but she knows that is not the case. She relies on her best friend, Beth, to give her perspective and keep her grounded about it all. But even Beth can't ease Alice's mind when more and more evidence piles up against Nathan. But it is the recent social media activity on her dead husband's account that nearly sends her over the edge. What is going on with Nathan and does it have anything to do with the husband she believed to be dead?

The First Mistake is a first-class thriller. I liked Alice as the main character. She was smart and given her history with losing her husband, you couldn't help but feel sympathetic towards her. I liked her friendship with Beth until Beth's big secret reveal. This is where the author switches narrators. And goes from Alice's story to Beth's. And she becomes just as sympathetic a character as Alice. And you start to question whether Tom Evans was the kind of man that Alice believes him to be. It takes a lot to leave me shocked when reading a book, but I truly didn't see this one coming. CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS In the end, Alice makes the right choice, but it is the kind of choice that will haunt her for the rest of her life.

Bottom Line - I have been so impressed with Sandie Jones and her thrillers. The First Mistake is very nearly perfect. I can't wait to read whatever she puts out there next, because I know it will be amazing.

Lots of twists and turns in this book. Had me trying to figure out how it was going to end. Great main characters. Will for sure read other books by this author again.

I had loved The Other Woman and I was looking forward to read the next one, and it did not disappoint. This book gripped me from the first chapter and didn't let go until its amazing ending. Sandie Jones does such a great job drawing the reader in, getting the person thinking one path by producing highly strong emotions and then bam! she turns the story and everything you think you know on it's head. This book had a lot of good twists, a lot of suspense and was just as good if not better than The Other Woman. I do think since there is a lot going on in this book you have to as the reader really keep track of what's going on and pay attention. As long as the reader can manage to keep everything straight it's just a read all night kind of b

This one was insane. I was captivated from the beginning and it really never let up until the end and I loved it. So many twists and what is his deal and what is she thinking and ugh the bff is shifty but then you learn more about her and so many dots that I couldn’t connect until I did and then whoaaaa. Are you tired now? So was I, but this was so much fun to go through!

This was a great thriller that had me guessing until the very end, I had most of it figured out but a couple of things I couldn’t tie together and that is just fine with me as I like not having it all figured out. Told in the past and the present for Alice and Beth, I enjoyed both stories and then how the two came together. Very well done in my opinion and I liked this one so much better than her first book, The Other Woman.

I tend to be pretty underwhelmed by Sandie Jones, despite her popularity. I think maybe I set my expectations too high because everyone raves about her. The two that I have read I got through very quickly, but they both fall a little flat for me. This one was no different. To me, this one was more predictable than The Other Woman and less attention catching early on.

It feels hard to review this book and the plot without spoiling the many twists and turns that Jones takes us on! As a huge fan of Jones' debut novel, The Other Woman, I had high expectations. While I did enjoy The First Mistake, it definitely wasn't my absolute favorite. My main criticism is that... I didn't like ANY of the characters and found them underdeveloped at times. Beth, in particular, I didn't care for. I also felt the pacing to be a bit slow at the beginning-- I actually had to start reading it twice because the first time I lost interest. However, by the time I finally got into it, I was totally questioning everything and was pleasantly surprised by the ending that I thought I had seen coming, but ended up coming to fruition in a slightly different way. If you're a fan of twisty psychological thrillers, this one's for you.

I really enjoyed reading The First Mistake by Sandie Jones. It was an addictive domestic thriller with characters who are not trustworthy. The suspense and surprises were non-stop as you made your way through the book and to the grand finale. Highly recommend.

WOW! What can I say about this book? The last 50 pages was a twist I could not have guessed in my wildest dreams!
This is a story that mainly revolves around Alice. Alice is a mom who owns her own company. She is married to Nathan, who also works at the company. Alice suspects Nathan is cheating and is having a hard time as he denies and denies. Nathan is not Alice’s first husband; her first husband, Tom, passed away in an accident. Alice thinks of Tom often and struggles with emotions over 10 years later.
Alice has a best friend, Beth. They have a great relationship and get together often. Beth drops a bombshell on Alice that may change their friendship forever. To find out this bombshell and the twist I mentioned earlier, go grab this book- you won’t regret it!

Sandie Jones will always be one of my favorite authors. She’s the queen of slow burns. Although I figured this out pretty early on, I was still along for the ride!

This was a good book, but nothing too exciting. Just your average story. Would recommend to a friend.
