Fast action packed novel set in France during WO2.
It starts full in action and made me miss some background information.
And couldnt fully attach to the MC, because of that I missed emotions.

This is a wonderful historical thriller set during WWII.
It featuresd well drawn characters and a fast paced plot and was atmospheric in setting and time period.

This was very well done. The author has talent. Realistic plot, well-written characters, and a satisfying ending. I can see reasons for the comparison to Scarlet Sky. I look forward to her next book. Recommended.

Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. I enjoyed this historical fiction centered on the time period just after WWII had ended. A Welsh sheep farmer tracks across France to find his son, Owain. Owain had been part of a resistance group to help save children and a jewish looted art from the Nazis. This novel was a bit slow to start and someone difficult to keep straight but was overall an enjoyable read. I appreciated all the research that went into this novel.

I did not finish this book. I thought the back and forth between past and present was too confusing with only italics to differentiate between the time periods. I was lost from the start and that did not motivate me to finish. Perhaps with better editing and better delineation between flashbacks it would have worked for me.

This book was very heart wrenching for me, it was set in the aftermath of the World Wars. The premise is about this man who is crippled with the guilt of leaving things horribly with his son, the last words spoken amongst them was done in anger and were extremely harsh. So now he has begun a journey is search of his son, in hopes of a reconciliation. That’s where he starts traveling with a woman who also has her own share of painful memories.

I was very pleasantly surprised to have really enjoyed this book, I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I opened it. It has definitely opened me up to more options. And did make me cry so that’s how you know I enjoyed this.
