I have loved catching up with DCI Anna Tate as the team are called in when a young woman is found dead on Barnes Common,As Anna and her team are tasked with finding out who the victim is and why was she murdered in this way. Also Anna is still searching for her daughter Chloe, she must as always put her missing daughter to the back of her mind so as to consentrate on the murder.I won't spoil the book for others only to say well worth 5*

This is the second book in the DCI Anna Tate series and it’s a fabulous follow up to the the first. Once more Anna Tate is plunged headlong into the murder of a young woman left on Barnes common and right from the start it’s obvious this is going to a high profile case with lots of media attention. Running parallel with the case is the ongoing story of Anna’s search for her own missing daughter and this adds extra suspense to the book making a real page turner with plenty of twists and surprises making for a thoroughly good read. The character of DCI Anna Tate I particularly like as she is a tough policewoman good at her job and very believable, the storyline of the her anguish in trying to find her abducted daughter is well written and shows a more vulnerable side of her character making her very real.
So an excellent police procedural that is enjoyable from start to finish and I look forward to reading the next in this series and can well recommend both the first in the series and this one if you enjoy a great mystery thriller and my thanks to J P Carter for a great read.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was intense! I loved it,this series is becoming one of my top favorites. Some many twist and turns, and the side story is so heart wrenching.
I throughly enjoy read a book with a strong female character, and DCI Anna Tate is one strong, fierce , headstrong woman. I can hardly wait until the next installment.
Thank you #netgalley for the opportunity to read the arc of this book.

I’ve been longing to read this second book in the Anna Tate series ever since I was beguiled by the first book. This really didn’t disappoint either. Plenty of suspects and red herrings. Anna’s story also has a surprising turn. Fabulous reading. I am so looking forward to the next one.

DCI Anna Tate is having a hard time keeping her mind on her current case. A woman has been found murdered and a local politician is screaming for a quick resolution to the case while at the same time, Anna finally has a reason to hope in the case of her own missing daughter. Chloe has been gone for ten years, kidnapped by her father. The leads went cold, but now a phone call has breathed fresh air into the case. Carter does a good job at portraying the incredible pressure brought to bear on the police to solve a high profile crime, while at the same time displaying the demons they face in their own personal lives. I love the fact that the main character is a strong woman, who struggles to do her job while her personal life is in a shambles.
