I was interested when I read the synopsis of this book. However once I began reading it, I just could not get involved in the story. It's sprouted as a gripping psychological thriller, but not for me. I couldn't become interested in any of the characters. I do enjoy delicious thrillers, but this book just wasn't it for me. |
I really enjoyed this book, although it had a bit of a slow start I was soon hooked and couldn’t put it down. It kept me guessing and I thought the ending was very well written, I shall be recommending this book. |

This is the first book that I have read from this author. It was a well written mystery filled some mild suspense. It is a book that I would recommend to others. |
Kirsty's best friend Lisa disappears in the park 30 years ago, what happened to her, a man from Oman nicknamed Tokki had confessed to murdering her at the time but took back his confession later when he realized he was not confessing to being in the country illegally. Kirsty never got over it, the police ambushed her and pushed her into telling things she didn't believe to be true but she did as she was told, was the wrong man sent to prison? This has haunted Kirsty all her life. Now back in her hometown to give her younger sister Vic some support during her pregnancy, mysterious notes turn up "You should never have come back"! Is someone afraid of Kirsty discovering what really happened on that fateful day? This story builds slowly and when all the pieces fit together, BAM twists galore, I for one didn't see it coming, I thoroughly enjoyed it, with a touch of psychic tales, tarot cards, can people speak beyond the grave? For fans of chilling dark suspenseful psychological thrillers, this will be right up your street! Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion. |
Kirsty and her best friend, Lisa, want to grow up and live next door to each other, name their kids after each other and be friends forever until Lisa disappears. Years later, Kirsty, is struggling with her life and the knowledge they never found Lisa’s body but does someone she know hold the clue to solve the crime? This was a good read and the ending was not what I expected. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review. |

This book is fantastic. I had no idea what to expect or where we were going to end up with this story. Just fantastic. Dark, twisty, unpredictable - everything you want in a thriller. |
Thanks to Bookouture for the ARC! Wow, this book was such a great surprise for me! I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it this much, since crime stories aren't exactly my favorites. But damnnn, this author is good! When Lisa Cook disappears without any explanation, her best friend, Kirsty, is interrogated by the police to help them unravel the mystery. The problem is, she doesn't have all the answers. Lisa was a good liar. She was always making up stories to make her life seem more interesting. For that reason, she didn't have many friends. She said she was dating one of her lodgers, a prince named Tokki. His friend, Mohammed, was still available to date Kirsty. She said they could all live together in Oman, doing anything they wanted to. They'd be rich and powerful. Kirsty never believed these stories, but she found Lisa's friendship with the guys very strange. One day, Lisa finally admitted that they never dated, it was all only in her head. The girls had a fight. And then Lisa went missing. Kirsty was shocked and traumatized, but she had to answer many questions to help the police. She wanted her friend back. She was only a child, with lots of fears. Without any kind of protection during their sessions, she was coerced to say that the lodgers were guilty, because she had seen them in the park that day. That was not true. And she knew. But Tokki confessed the crime, and he was arrested. 30 years later, those lies still haunt her a lot. The fact that they had never found the girl's body only increased her suspicions that things still weren't over. The truth isn't just shocking for Kirsty, but for the reader as well. It's the first book I read from this author and I really enjoyed her work. I thought she was able to blend the children's innocence with the disturbed minds of the adults around them in a balanced way. It's also a great criticism of the investigation system, which often puts a person who's not emotionally prepared to testify about a fact, without being able to really analyze the situation. |
Wow this book was amazing. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters. I would recommend this to other people who have heard of this author 5***** |
I'd like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. What can I say but wow. I started this book today and finished it in one sitting. It has interesting characters and so many plot twists and turns that you'll be shaking your head over and over again in disbelief. The book starts off with a bang and doesn't quit until the very end, I'd now like to go back and read more of the author's work. |
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. Pleasantly surprised at how much I admired the writing in this book. It's a complex story but written in a way that isn't too over the top. Two little girls Kirsty and Lisa are close friends. Then one of them goes missing. The other is left alone with the police who potentially coerce her into putting a innocent boy in jail. Now nearly 30 years later, she is wondering what really happened. truly a great story telling piece! |

A well constructed plot and plenty of twists and turns. This read was a quick, absorbing read, nicely paced and brimming with a cast of very intriguing characters. Enjoyed the journey. |
This was my first book by Frances Vick and I found it very enjoyable and compelling especially the first half of the book which dealt with Lisa and Kirsty as children I thought this part was exceptionally well written and described just how easy it is for little lies to become something else completely and just how easy children can be manipulated. The plot was full of twists some of which I sort of guessed but others came as a total surprise and I think a a lot of thought went into the writing of this book. The characters were well crafted and felt real and the book moved on at a fair pace making it for me a quick and satisfying read that I can well recommend and I look forward to reading more from the excellent Francis Vick so a big thank you to her. My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. |

An incredibly well written, gripping and complex story. The book was very fast paced and the girls friendship was beautifully told. The characters very likeable. A good amount of twists thrown in. Very good |
I have been a fan of this author since her debut book "Bad Little Girl." Two Little Girls. Kirsty and Lisa.... Lisa goes missing. Kirsty helps the police by telling them what they want to hear and possibly putting an innocent boy in prison. Goes to show how police can coerce people into making false statements! Kirsty being a child and not represented by her mother was easily confused and influenced! Thirty years later, certain developments make Kirsty wonder what really happened to her best friend all those years ago and decides she needs to find out the truth. But certain people would rather the truth stay buried... This was a quick and easy read that had me turning the pages. 4 stars. I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next! A big thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book! |
I found this book really easy to get into, and easy enough to keep me captivated, however I feel like there were a few too many twists and odd loose ends. Like, why was Sylvia so evil? What was her motive? What was the deal with Mervyn? Just overall, the characters felt quite flat and empty. |
I found this book a bit slow to start with but when it picked up it was a good paced psychological thriller with interesting characters and a well developed story. It didn't have me on the edge of my seat but nevertheless an excellent read. Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this book. |
Thank-you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity of reading an advanced copy of Two Little Girls in exchange for an honest review. Two Little Girls is the story of Lisa and Kirsty who are best friends but are completely different from each other. Kirsty is impressionable and looks up to Lisa where as Lisa tells lies and likes to stretch the truth. Now one of her lies is going to ruin an innocent mans life. The year is 1985 in the town of Beacon Hill and Lisa is missing! A lie that Lisa told about her mother’s lodger Toqueer (Tokki) which was that they were to be married and move to Tokki’s home in Omar, now has Kirsty convinced by the police that Tokki is involved in Lisa’s disappearance. Tokki who does not have a strong grasp on the English language inadvertently confesses to the crime and is sent to prison. Now 30 years later Kirsty has made a new life for herself outside of Beacon Hills and is happily married to her husband Lee but she is still haunted by the events of Lisa’s mysterious disappearance and cannot shake off the feeling of unease that the wrong man was sent to prison all of those years ago. Trying to put the pieces together, Kristy while attending a baby shower for her sister Vic, meets mother and daughter Sylvia and Angela who happen to be psychics. From here Kristy forms a close relationship with Sylvia who has become like a surrogate mother to her when she moves back to Beacon Hills to help her sister with the baby and together with the help of psychic intervention try and solve the mystery of Lisa’s disappearance. But is Sylvia as trustworthy as she appears to be and what is the secret that’s Kirsty husband Lee seems to be hiding? Who can Kirsty trust and is her life now in danger? This started as a slow burn but when it kicked in, it was thrilling! Just when you think you have figured out who the real culprit of the story is, think again! This is a well crafted psychological thriller to keep you reading well into the night. |
