Do we really know our parents past ? When Noah's mum is found murdered in her garden, Josie has to dig into her past to find why someone would kill a seemingly innocent gentle lady whilst trying to help Noah with his grief

This is another gripping rollercoaster of a read that keeps you gripped and guessing from start to finish

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Bone She Buried by Lisa Regan that I read and reviewed.
The fifth book in the Josie Quinn series took Josie and Noah on another personal cas when they went to Noah’s mom’s for dinner and found her dead facedown in her garden. In this book it puts the relationship of these beloved characters to a true test and has readers questioning in the relationship of these two that we have been cheering for in many books will make it.
This book also has a number of other twist and turns that keep coming up and a body count that goes up from the past and present that keeps Josie and her team busy. I can honestly say this book is full of surprises and I really did not see the final twist coming. This is one of those books that you have to keep up with to really know what is going on but it is a really good read and I am sure that Josie Quinn will have more crimes to solve.
This book gets four out of five stars.

So this is the fifth in the Josie Quinn series and it’s actually only the second one I’ve read but I think it works perfectly well as a stand-alone.

It’s a heart breaking case for Josie’s boyfriend Noah as he finds they find his mother, Colette, dead in the backyard of her home but it’s not from natural causes. Someone killed her but she’s seemingly without enemies.

As Josie and her team dig deeper into Colette’s life they find links to an old missing person’s case of a prominent attorney Drew Pratt. What secrets was she keeping from her own children?

Meanwhile, Josie’s friend and colleague Gretchen is placed on desk duty after their last case, so she is forced to work with the inexperienced Mettner.

More bodies turn up and it’s a race against time to stop the killer before they strike again.

I’m a little late to the party on this thrilling series and I’m really kicking myself for not picking them up sooner!

This is an intricately plotted police procedural, which is just non stop from beginning to end, packed with twists and turns that you won’t see coming!

Josie and Noah really go through it in this novel. Noah usually the calm and in control one, changes completely, becoming uncommunicative and lashes out at everyone, especially Josie. She never really got on with his mother, now it seems that his overbearing sister Laura has taken over, making her feel guilty and trying to get in between her and Noah. Without Noah’s support she spirals back into bad habits, it’s touch and go whether she’ll be able to solve the case.

Okay, yes there are a few aspects which I found a little either convenient or unbelievable but with a fast pace and gripping writing style, you can quite easily ignore those things (unless you’re like me and overthink everything).

Overall The bones she buried is a thrilling tale that will keep you gripped from the first chapter. I can’t wait for the next book!

Absolutely fantastic! I adored this book from start to finish and completed it in one sitting. I am an avid reader of crime novels and it takes a lot to impress or surprise me at this stage. However, I genuinely didn't see the reveal of the killer coming at all. This was my first book in the Detective Josie Quinn but I quickly caught up with the previous plot lines and have become a firm supporter of the detective. I look forward to catching up with the previous books in the series in the near future.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC.

Lisa Regan writes the type of books that I tell myself I am only going to read a few chapters of before bed. Next thing I know it’s 2am and I am only a few pages away from being done the book.

Josie and her co-workers pull you in from the start and it’s impossible to not want to know more. From the first chapter, I knew this crime was one that would be full of twists, turns and everything in between. So many times I thought I had things figured out only to realize I was on the wrong thought process completely. And I absolutely love a book that can do that to me.

Josie is back! This is the 5th installment of the Josie Quinn series and just like every single book before you will love it! You have to read this series each book has such a great story line! Josie is on the hunt to find out who killed Noah's mom and why. This seems like a simple mystery for Josie to solve but nothing is simple in Josie's world she untangles something much more sinister. I love following the lives of Josie, Gretchen and Noah and I'm hoping the author keeps on writing this series because unlike other books that have 5 in the series this series just keeps you wanting more. Definitely recommend this series and any book by Lisa Regan .

The Bones She Buried is the fifth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series, and well I never, it's even damn better than the previous instalments; in fact, it's one of the best police procedurals/thrillers I've happened upon in a long time, and that's quite an accolade given the amount I read. Once again, as in previous novels in the series, the crime hits incredibly close to home creating an unwelcome merging of Josie's personal and professional lives and a conflict of interest which certainly adds a different, original slant on proceedings.

I found that it captured my attention immediately and it never wavered at any point. The plot is truly gripping with some exceptional twists and turns, and I love how Ms Regan doesn't show her hand too soon and let the cat out of the bag; a mistake many more experienced authors make. It's an all-action extravaganza and as unpredictable as they come. Believe me, you won't guess the outcome of this beauty easily. This is a highly entertaining, top-notch and impossible to put down read, couple that with an intelligent, feisty female protagonist and you've got an unmissable five-star page-turner. I look forward to the next instalment.

Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

What a great book! There were so many deaths, too many suspects; I was not even certain of Noah at times! I have to say; this is my first book by this Author, also meeting Josie for the first time. Has he been this immature in all of the other books? I realize the death of someone close would have a profound effect on him; to turn away from the woman he is supposed to love; and living with for four years, does not bode well for a long term relationship! I knew it was going to lead back to where it did, yet, the story is compelling, fast-paced, great characters. I enjoyed it immensely!
I highly recommend! Thanks, Bookoutoure, and Netgalley!

I just love this series! Josie is a hardworking, work aholic and this gets her into some trouble with Noah when his mother is murdered. She wants to do everything possible to find the killer and Noah just needs the support of his girlfriend. Why would anyone want to murder Colette? What secrets was she hiding from her family? Was there a long ago murder that she was involved in? All of these questions are what Josie tries desperately to answer before someone else is killed.

I would read the books in order as there are a lot of characters that intermingle throughout the books and the backstory is very interesting.

This is a great series.
Josie and Noah discover his mum dead in her garden and soon realise it was not an accident.
Josie wants to find her killer but Noah and his family struggle with their grief and the distance between them widens.
It takes a while for Josie and the team to put everything together as more people are killed and they can’t find the link.
When Josie and Noah’s lives are in danger the investigation steps up a gear and Josie is determined to find out what’s going on.
I really enjoyed this story but felt like Noah’s sister needed putting in her place on several occasions!
I look forward to reading more books in this series.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I received this ARC through Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley.com, to Bookouture, and to Lisa Regan for this opportunity.

This case is close to home for Josie because the victim is Noah's mother, Colette. Both Noah and Josie are shocked and devastated when they go to Colette's house for a visit and find her dead in her garden. It appears to be no accident because her mouth is packed full of soil but they can't imagine who would do something so heinous to sweet Colette. As Josie investigates, she finds evidence in Colette's house that may link her to other murders. Josie feels like everything is falling apart as both the case and her relationship with Noah are becoming complicated. Soon, the killer is leaving a fresh trail of murders in what seems like a mission to hide evidence. He is always one step ahead of Josie and her team. Josie is determined to discover the truth in spite of what she could lose to bring justice to Colette and stop the killer once and for all.

I love this entire series and I can't wait for the next book. Lisa Regan is fantastic. Highly Recommended.

Josie (after a failed afternoon of baking that I can completely relate to) arrives to a dinner at her quasi-mother-in-law's (Colette's) house to find her dead. Someone has killed the (apparently) harmless woman by stuffing her throat and mouth with dirt, and left her body splayed in her garden. Why?

Josie is, as always, a spit-fire who doesn't back off of what she believes is right (like trying to get Gretchen off punitive desk-duty hell) even when it's not at all the best thing for her. I can relate to that, too! In this current installment she has to fight against Noah, her boyfriend and Colette's son, to solve Colette's murder, Noah lashes out at her in just about every way possible, and seems to lose every bit of detective common-sense he has, getting angry at even the most basic steps his fellow detectives take to investigate. Which, on the surface, might seem implausible--except that I've seen how losing a parent can take a normally solid, rational person and make them nearly unrecognizable, and how it's often the easiest and safest thing in that situation to turn your pain onto the person closest to you. Fair? No. Real? Yes. Throw in a hormonal pregnant sister, and you have a recipe for tense conflict and accidental obstruction.

I really enjoyed the classic detective spin this installment has--having cut my teeth on Agatha Christie, I love watching facts unfold through logical steps in found evidence and interrogations. And, I really enjoyed the twist! It was surprising, but made sense and fit the themes. Definitely a satisfying read.

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley. I have been following Detective Josie Quinn since her first book Vanishing girls. I just love her character.

In the previous books, we have learnt about the background of different main characters. In Her Mother's Grave, we learnt all about Josie and her life before this series. In Her final Confession, we learnt about Gretchen and her past. This book was all about Noah. While these books do feature the same characters they can be read as standalones.

When we first met Noah in Vanishing Girls I thought he was a bit of a wet fish but by the end of that book, he was a firm favourite. As the series progressed I have fallen more and more for Detective Fraley. It was very interesting to learn more about Noah and his family. I found his sister infuriating! She kept trying to drive a wedge between Josie and Noah and that is something I am not okay with! I wanted to hug Noah in this book and tell him everything will be okay, even though quite clearly things were far from okay.

This story took many twists and turns and for such a long time, like the detectives, I could not work out how all these deaths were connected. Lisa did an excellent job of reeling me in and investing me in this story.

As always I am looking forward to more of Josie Quinn and her gang.

My thanks to Bookouture for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘The Bones She Buried’, the fifth in her Detective Josie Quinn series of police procedurals.

When Josie and her boyfriend, Noah, go to his mother’s house for dinner, something is not right as it looks as though things have been disturbed. They then find Colette’s body in the garden and it quickly becomes clear that she has been murdered.

While Noah, who is also a member of the Denton Police, is devastated and in mourning, Josie begins to investigate with her other colleagues. Searching the house later Josie finds a small cache of objects that may be what the murderer was seeking. Their significance at first is unclear. The case quickly becomes quite complex and other crimes are committed. In addition, Noah’s sister clearly doesn’t approve of their relationship creating further stress for Josie.

Existing readers of the series might like Noah but I found him immature and quite unsympathetic. Certainly losing his mother in such a way was deeply traumatic but is he supposed to be a law enforcement professional. That he seemed unable to appreciate that it was Jodie’s job to investigate the murder struck me as odd.

While I consider it ideal to read a series from the start, this proved no barrier. Although there were a few details about earlier cases and characters along the way, this served to make me curious about them.

So I enjoyed it very much. Even though the case was complicated it was well plotted. I am now interested in reading the previous and future books in the series.

My rating on this one is probably a bit more based on how Josie behaved in this book than on the writing, etc. While I am happy that she has returned to being a detective, I felt like she let it overshadow the other events taking place and her relationship with Noah. It was of little consolation that it seemed like she was aware of the issue herself. I am still not excited about Josie and Noah's relationship; however, not being able to let go of your job to help your romantic partner out would be a horrible way to ruin a relationship. I do like how Ms. Regan includes the backgrounds and events of the other characters in the story and hope she continues to expand on those. It makes for a richer series. I did notice in this book that her brief introduction/description of Lamay, an older police officer, sounded verbatim of how she described him in the previous book. That was disappointing. Hopefully after book 4 told us more about Gretchen and this book gave more color to Noah's family, in subsequent books we can learn more about others in their small college town.

Another brilliant book in the Josie Quinn series. I have loved them all so far so couldn’t wait to read this. I wasn’t disappointed!!!! It grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. A tragic start to the book but a brilliant storyline nevertheless. The secret kept me guessing right to the end and I didn’t expect the ending. I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes this genre of book.

Another Josie Quinn book down, and I can’t get enough! I can’t believe in such a short time there have been 5 books! Josie is one of my favorite characters of all time; Such a strong, independent woman! She has been through so much (go read book 1 to 4) and has come out even stronger.

This time around, the story involves Noah, Josie boyfriend, and fellow cop, and as much I hated to see how this affected their relationship, I really enjoyed the storyline! As per usual, I couldn’t see the ending from a mile away. I already can’t wait for the 6th book and can’t wait to find out more about Josie and Noah’s relationship. I’m a huge fan of romance as well, so I absolutely love that this series has a great amount of mystery/thriller sprinkled with romance!

Every time I start a Josie Quinn novel, I know I will not be able to do anything that day and I will need to finish it! Get ready for an action-packed page-turner!

This book had so much going on but I could keep up with it. It starts out with the death of Colette. She is the mother of Detective Quinn's boyfriend. Things go all wrong after that. Josie finds something in Colette's house which turns her into full detective mode and starts enquiries into missing people and things from a long time ago. But it also put Josie's and Noah's relationship on hold and it is strained to the max. Then Noah's sister is mean to Josie and treating her like a pariah and Noah as a child. I really liked how Josie and her team worked together even if they didn't always agree with her but they still respected each other. AT first I did not like their boss Chitwood. But then I realized his bark was much worse than his bite. The only person I did not like was Laura, Noah's sister. I am not sure if it was her real personality or her pregnancy hormones making her into a witch. I also wasn't always happy with the way Hoah treated Josie but then again I think it was mostly his grief talking.

Lisa Regan has managed to do it again. This book was absolutely incredible.
It throws you right into the action just like the rest of the Josie Quinn books. One minute you're having a lovely time with Josie and Noah, the next his mums dead in the back garden and it looks like she's been murdered.

You'd think the storylines would get a bit boring and a bit repetitive in the Josie Quinn books since there's only a handful of characters to base them around but they never ever do. This one surprised me a lot and I was completely gripped from the start. I loved where it lead and I loved the way it ended. Even the characters, who we know and love so well managed to develop more and become even more amazing.

I always expect the Josie Quinn books to be good now, and even then I'm always blown away.
I've read the Josie Quinn series from the first book and I've become more and more obsessed with it as each book has been released. It is definitely my favourite crime thriller series and I would recommend it to everyone. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series.
