Funny, sweet, quirky, heartfelt and romantic. I really enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting, well developed and have chemistry between them throughout their story. The story was interesting, well written with a happily ever after. Would recommend

Vet Cal has is blown away when he spies his perfect woman having a drink in his local bar, too bad he didn’t have a shower after tending his last goaty patients. Docia can’t help checking out the tall handsome man through the mirror. She’s been burned before and can’t risk another relationship. Even though Docia’s bookstore has been open for over a year the locals still are wary of the newcomer, the same doesn’t seem to be true of the tall handsome vet when it comes to the town’s ladies who all suddenly seem to have sickly pets. I loved this small town adventure featuring a strong woman who is unwittingly drawn into a dangerous drama. Definitely want to revisit. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

As with the previous books by this author I’ve read, I was swept away in the story and its characters from the opening page. There’s a wide range of emotions that filter throughout the story, as well explosive chemistry and quirky, but lovable animals. Definitely a story that’s easy to get lost in.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This was a very enjoyable read. I liked the hero, Cal, a vet in a small Texas town. The town is full of the standard mix of quirky people with a mystery added in for why something odd seems to be going on at the local bookstore. Docia, the store’s owner has moved to this small town after she found out that her fiance was using her to get to her dad’s money. She is the titular Venus who draws Cal’s eye from the beginning.

Now they just have to stay safe as someone targets her bookstore and the town snob tries to bring down Docia. And Docia has to overcome her suspicions that a poor guy might be interested in her solely for her parent’s money.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Cute, and loved the pets!

I found this book to be a cute read. It didn’t change my world, nor did I really find myself involved in the story or love. I did like that Docia and Cal were each their own person and they weren’t changing for anyone. I also liked the small town and some of the supporting characters. I even kind of liked Margaret and how she was kind of inside her own head, seeing grudges that weren’t really there. I was disappointed by how the love relationship developed quickly and then Docia seemed unsure about it over and over again. I would have liked her to be more confident and to take more time before jumping in.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.

This book was adorable. It was really sweet and totally believable. Docia and Cal were all kinds of cute.

There was nothing alarming about the book. Margaret probably needs a lot of therapy but honestly, don’t we all know somebody like Margaret. The people that are kind of backwards in their thinking and make up grudges when there aren’t any. But it wasn’t anything that stopped Docia or Cal from doing whatever they wanted to do.

The true stars in this book, however, were Nico and Pepe. Those two were all kinds of adorable. Especially Pepe. The way Docia and Cal adopted him was super sweet and kind of showed how there truly is a pet for everyone. And Pepe was not for Margaret.

I also loved how Cal was a vegetarian and was burly and hairy and all of those adjectives that are traditionally used for manly men. He wasn’t an overly possessive man nor was he overbearing. Not that Docia would have stood for it. He was who he was and he wasn’t about to apologize for it.

Docia was much the same. She wasn’t going to conform to the town standard just so people would accept her.

The relationship between the two developed rather quickly. Which is fine but I didn’t particularly like it. Especially because Docia was having doubts almost the entire time.

Besides that, I totally recommend it.

Venus in Blue Jeans is my first read by Meg Benjamin, and I’m always keen to give a new author a go. The story itself is interesting, with a side order of humour as well. I found the characters engaging and easy to like, and the author’s portrayal of small town quaintness was appealing. I wouldn’t say this book is great, but it’s an easy to follow story and a decent time filler.

A great read. The story of Docia and Cal, surrounded by an interesing mix of characters in Konigsburg, Texas.

Docia has been hurt before, so no longer believes in love and happy ever after. Can Cal change her mind?

Looking forward to the rest of this seires
