A woman washes up on shore. She has no idea who she is or what happened to her. The police are able to find out her identity. She goes home with her boyfriend, a man she does not remember, and tries to figure out what happened. As the days go by, she discovers who she can and can't trust and how she came to be washed up on the shore. This was a fun one. I loved trying to figure out what happened to her and if the people in her life were actual friends or con artists. Definitely an interesting read with a great mystery. |
The cover put me off this book which meant that it has sat on my shelf for a couple of months. I’m gutted now that I didn’t read it sooner as it’s a fab read and a great psychological thriller. I enjoyed it so much that I’m away to read another one of her books. |
Incredible. I love Shalini Boland, and I found this to be one of her best books so far. Utterly gripping and compelling. |
Oh my word what a cracking read! Read over two evenings this book is a belter, a real unputdownable read. Coming to on the sand, not remembering who she is, or where she comes from, Mia embarks on a journey to re find herself and her past. Brilliantly written this oozes intrigue. Shalini Boland is becoming one of my favourite authors |

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. For some reason, I just couldn't get into this book. I tried reading it but felt my eyes closing every time. I DNF, but will try again soon. |

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre for my ARC of The Girl From the Sea by Shalini Borland, This was a fast read for me and I enjoyed the storyline of what it might feel like to wake up after a lucky escape without any memories, Such is the case for Mia. All she knows is that she was found on the beach, cold and wet. The police surmise it was an unfortunate rowing accident which Mia finds out she loved to do. But the accident had a lucky outcome. She managed to wash ashore with quite the blow to her head. Mia doesn’t remember a thing. Not her boyfriend whom she doesn’t seem to like as it stands. She’s unaware of her lovely home, her wealth and why she hasn’t spoken to her mother and sister in 3 years. But Mia is starting to get flashbacks, Could those be her memories from the time before she went into the water or dreams? Turning to rowing buddy Jack she starts to rely on his warmth and reassurance. As she begins to discuss who she was before with the people around her she starts to wonder if she even liked her old self, Will Mia ever find out what happened to her that night? And more importantly can she really rely on others to help put the pieces of her fragmented memory back together again? |
A very interesting read . Twists and turns to keep you engrossed. Wondering which way the author is going to take it. Nice and easy to read. Flows well. Enjoyable to read |
The Girl from the Sea was another great book by Shalini Boland. A fab read that hooked me in from the first few pages. A girl is found washed up by the sea, she is alive but has no idea who she is or how she got there. Great psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns. |

Initially, I felt that this book was dragging on a bit. Mia, the protagonist, was becoming irritating as she bemoaned her memory loss. I also felt it was becoming rather predictable. Was I wrong?! Ultimately, it ended with a twist which made the read totally worthwhile. All in all, well-written, with believable characters and a great ending. My thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. |

4-5 stars! I always love Boland’s books and this one was no exception. I think she’s so good at creating a tension filled plot, with so much suspense you can’t help but get completely emerged. This one was definitely one that was very chilling, thrilling, and oh so good! A must read for Boland fans, or even thriller fans! I will use in a challenge and recommend in Chapter Chatter Pub! |

A young woman has amnesia after an accident. She remembers nothing of her life or the event that left her on the beach with no memories. This sets the back story for Shalini Boland's thriller. As our main character works top regain her memory, she has to decide who she can trust and who might have tried to kill her. The story has several twists but the author gives us plenty of clues. The end was not quite expected. |
I started reading Shalini Boland’s books quite recently. Of the two of her books I read, before this one, I especially liked ‘The Silent Sister’ which had a good story and moved fast. ‘The Girl from the Sea’ makes for great reading as well – it has an interesting story, great pace and some twists (including a big one). A lady is found on the beach. As she is admitted to a hospital with a head injury, she can remember nothing of her life. A man named Piers, who says he is her boyfriend comes to the hospital, seeking to take her away once she recovers. She finds out that her name is Mia James and it turns out that she is quite rich – owning a luxurious home with a great view. Over the next few days, she finds that she is simply not able to connect with Piers anymore. Her meeting her mother and sister does not help much either. She decides to take things one at a time, including being cautious in her relationship but determined to find out about her past and what happened to her. She discovers that she was fond of sailing, and finds herself drawn to Jack, a sailing instructor who has known her well. She has visions of someone approaching her angrily and is unclear if she is hallucinating or is seeing fragments of a real incident. Also, it is not clear if she can trust Piers, Jack or even herself. The book moves along very quickly, and builds suspense very well. The picture of what Mia’s life was before the incident, and what happened to her, stacks up an incident at a time. The last section which unveils the suspense is very well written as well. Overall, an engrossing read and a great book to relax with! My rating: 4.5 / 5. |

Wow! What a twist, I did not see that coming. Mia is found washed up on the beach with no memory of who she is or anything about her life. When she is at the hospital, a boyfriend shows up to claim her and tell her the details about her life, she feels very wary of him. When she can’t even remember her own name she is afraid to trust anyone who has come forward in her life, even her immediate family. To make matters even more confusing Mia has discovered that she is worth millions of dollars. Excellent, addictive book with a twist that you will not soon forget. I have read all of Shalini Boland’s books and this one didn’t disappoint. Highly recommended. |
Enjoyable and a fun read! The story caught my eye from the moment I read the blurb, and I just knew I wanted to read this book. I was not let down and can recommend this to everyone! |
