I'd want anyone working in law enforcement, courts, mental health, medicine, social services, and our legislators to read this book. It was well written, well researched, and used narratives for cases to help make the argument that we need to think of domestic violence differently so interventions can happen before some one dies.

Why doesn’t she leave? Why does he do it?
As a 26-year DV Survivor, I've been asked this question far too many times. There is no answer.
Rachel Snyder tries to answer your questions in a factual way. The individual stories she tells are as meaningful as the data in increasing your understanding. I think especially if you have not been personally involved in intimate partner violence, you should read this book. It will really change your mind about beliefs that everyone has that keep us stuck.

And you will understand: it can happen to you too.

I thought that I knew a lot about domestic violence, but this author made me realize how much I didn't know. This book was really informative and the best thing that was included was ways in which all of us can make an impact.

An eye opening look at the horror of domestic violence the forms it takes the victims the perpetrators. The shock relatives friends have when its revealed the comments I never suspected .The isolation victims feel the guilt those nearest to the victims suffered. This book should be read in colleges and grad schools an important book full of real life situations that will shock& sadden & educate. Us teach us what to look for and for victims to be brave enough to get help.#netgalley #bloomsburypublishing.
