Sadly I was unable to download the file, but the publisher was extremely kind and tried hard to help me. I still can't wait to read a physical copy once it's published! :)

There isn't an option to not review the book, so I'm going to give the book the rating that I anticipate the book will be (and of course update my rating on Goodreads and other platforms once I buy the book)

The murder mystery of this book is what drew me to request it, and I'm glad I did! I loved all of the characters, and the story was just so wonderful. I laughed out loud at parts and felt real connections to the characters. I don't think I've read any story where a main character was pansexual! It was just a wonderful book and recommend it to those not seeking a romance YA.

Leah Thomas has done it AGAIN! Every book she writes is unique, insightful, and incredibly thought provoking. Her latest is no exception. Filled with well drawn and well executed characters, Gus and Kalyn are people who will stay with me for a long time. I adored the representation and the fact that Thomas does so with sensitivity and brutal honesty. I don't know what else to say about this book except that not only does it demand a place in collections but everyone should be reading it . . .right now :)

Kalyn and Gus shouldn't be friends, but Kalyn has never done what she's supposed to do and Gus sees right though Kalyn's mask of perfection that first day and likes her more for it. No true friendship is easy, but theirs can never be simple. Kalyn dad is in prison for murdering Gus' dad when both parents were just 18 years old. Of course, since Kalyn just moved to town using a new name, and Gus doesn't ever NEED to tell people about his father in such a small town, neither knows at first. Rather a "Romeo and Juliet" beginning to their friendship.
I love these characters- a gutsy female and disabled male for mains and a psychologically different sidekick. Lots of family issues, biases, and p.o.v.s to love!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the E-arc copy of the novel.
I love all the diverse young adult fiction that we have to choose from lately. Wild and Crooked starts slow, but stick with it because it turns out to be a wonderful book. What we have of expectations of others and how we choose to view them is truly felt in this novel.

This was really nice. Gritty and definitely realistic. Also, as a person who has CP I appreciate the language used.(Normie, using CP instead of spelling it out, ect.)
