Interesting mystery/thriller. I enjoyed the characters and the story kept my interest throughout. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I found the writing good and pacy. The narrative follows the cases of a private eye with a somewhat unusual secretarial assistant in Chicago. In addition they have connections to the mob of the time albeit that they are not always good or useful connections. Our private Eye has a two-sided character, unusually, an eye for the underdog and a heart so soft that it melts at almost any hard luck story and yet he is tough, uncompromising and has friends in dark places. I enjoyed the book for the most part although there was a degree of sameness in all his cases

It looks like a good book to read. I was unable to get into my i pad to read. I  e mailed net galley once and they said they would try to fix it for me so I am unable to read it now because it is archived.
