The pacing of this book felt very slow to me, but I liked the characters and the overall plot. I think this book had promise to be amazing, but fell short of my expectations.

Hmm.. it was a bit okay. But i did not end up loving it.
Adam was very annoying and kind of frustrating...but Harper wasn`t amazing either.

This romantic and fun chick lit book by debut author Rachel Sawden was a nice surprise to me! I really liked the topic of travelling and self-discovery, also because I noticed that travelling tells me a lot about myself throughout the years.
But Rachel Sawden did not only pick a topic I could easily relate to, but executed it perfectly! The journey was full of believable up and downs, just like they would occur in real life. I could quickly build a relationship with the protagonists.
The writing itself is well done – I bet some would read the entire book in one.

A quick, fun read by Rachel Sawden. Runaways is an easy read that'll have you wanting to grab your backpack and go travelling. I really loved the main characters adventures and her independence. This was the ultimate fantasy read for me because I dream of being able to just grab a bag and travel the world. Highly recommend!

I loved the concept of this book, being a photographer and avid traveler myself. However not too far into the book, I found the story to fall flat. I didn’t think it was a very realistic story, and I had trouble connecting with the characters.

At the beginning of this book, it seemed to drag on and wasn’t super interesting. But then Harper began her traveling and I couldn’t stop reading. I was entranced from the traveling part—as traveling has been something I’ve always wanted to do. The sweet love story after all of her heartache was a nice touch. The friends they met along the way and her two best friends who were with her. It all just worked so well together. And I just found her on Instagram, so I hope to continue to follow her journeys!

This is the perfect summer read ! Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
If you like books about travel. and escape this is the perfect enjoyable summer afternoon read.
The charcter of Harper has reason to want out of her boring life. Her job, useless boyfriend and rental have all gone by the wayside within a short time. She decides to follow her heart and takes off to travel with her best friend . Not all goes their way but Harper learns along their escapades to enjoy life and embrace the good.

I love this book. The writing is well done, the charcters are likable and the travel scenes are fun. I highly recommend this book for your reading enjoyment.

It’s obvious from page one that this is a debut novel and frankly, I don’t know how it got past the editor’s desk. I pray that a much better version will actually be published. I also highly suspect it’s more of a throwback to the authors’ own travels with a weak love story and friendship tossed in to make it a novel. It doesn’t work. It’s messy and all over the place but mostly extremely immature. There is absolutely no character development. Harper is supposedly ready for marriage at the beginning of the novel, but there is no detail or connection to her relationship so when she leaves on her trip, there’s no reason to care when it fails. She behaves like a teenager, crying and making stupid decisions. She’s “in love” with 3 different men over the course of five months. Ummm... that’s nonsense. It’s clear she has no idea what love is and appears to mistake lust for love.

Descriptions of travel are glossed over with no realism of how it actually is to travel with just a backpack and doing laundry every day. One blip of a mention of her ragged appearance when seeing her parents is not enough to explain real life when backpacking. Language barrier issues are completely missing and unrealistic that they didn’t have some issues.

Overall, I gave it an extra star just for travel descriptions but really this is a one star effort. Either make it a memoir or fix it, but as is? Wasted effort.

I was provided with an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

“...keys to finding happiness again with two simple principles, gratitude and goal setting. Gratitude...we all have something to be thankful for. And setting goals to regain a sense of control.”

This book did not take me on the journey I thought it would. Although you experience a lot of places and adventures you may not take and choices you may not consider...it also shows you perspectives you may have never thought of previously.

“The key, I find,” she continued, “is to give it a reason. You can’t go back in time, you can’t change what happened, but you have the power to reframe it and let that shape your future. If you want it to have a good reason for happening, give it one.”

Many things you will experience during this read...Friends. chasing dreams. Healing. Love. Self worth. Letting go and having inner peace.

I do not have words for this book. I was in love with the story from the start and didn’t want it to end at all!! It is such a heartwarming book and you will be missing out on something great if you don’t read it.

Who doesn't want to run away from life when things get tough? Harper Rodrigues has plenty of reasons to do just that--because her life has gotten really tough. But when the going gets tough, Harper and her best friend decide that it is time to get going and take matters into their own hands. Like everything, however, nothing is roses and sunshine.

This book is a metaphor for how life gets in the way of happiness, even when we have the best intentions. The book is well-written and caught my attention from page one. Ms. Sawden has developed her plot and characters well and keeps things moving and flowing smoothly so that reading this book was a pleasure and made me feel like I was a part of the actual story! I have never read anything by this author before, but I will definitely be reading other books by her in the future! She is quite an accomplished storyteller! I loved this book!

This was a quick read and I enjoyed reading about all of the places they traveled to in Asia. It was a book about self discovery, friendship and realizing that you can't always control every bit of life.

Runaways is an enjoyable read following three friends as they travel across Asia and Oceania. Our protagonist, Harper, is thrown for a loop when she loses both her job and her boyfriend, so goes off traveling to find herself and follow her dreams. Filled with exotic destinations, fun moments, a bit of steam, and realistic friendships, this is a story about self-discovery and inner resilience. Perfect for a beach read!

I received an e-ARC from the author through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
