A side novella from the Port Lewis series. Can be read as a standalone.

Excellent.
Dark and messy and yet sometimes ridiculously sweet. 
It's Michael the human who's messed up and struggling with life and destructive behaviour. Victor, the witch-demon is chill. He has a tarantula familiar. And he bakes. Brownies. Gluten free. 
Would love a follow up story on how their quest goes. 
FYI: there is a lot of sex in this book. And while some is achingly sweet, some is hard and dark and bloody. 
TW: Cutting. Blood play. Mention of date-rape.

Michael Gates. This asshole. I love him. Same with Victor, my ghost/demon baby. At first I was nervous about the length and it started off slow, but once I got into it I didn't want it to end. The ending was sort of sudden, but really good and leave room open for more (please let there be more.). My babies from the other books show p/are mentioned so read those first. Some of the plot details are mentioned in <em>Predatory</em>. </p>

Unbroken says "monsterfucker rights." I requested an ARC because I loved Venom and I definitely got vibes similar to those in the greatest romcom ever. Watch Venom and read this book.

I absolutely loved seeing a story set in Port Lewis that was located adjacent to the core story of the coven. The writing gets better with every book. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.

Soooo, this book...Guy moves into a house that is known to be haunted in a new area with his sister. He finds out that a warlock lives there because he is bound there. He died and became linked to a demon. They end up falling for each other and starting a sexual relationship. I know it sounds like the more bizarre thing and definitely not something I would normally read, but it was entertaining! I actually enjoyed it even the sexy time. I’m a weirdo I know. It took me awhile to read because I thought this is so weird. But I did request it from NetGalley. I just didn’t think it would be like this. I give it a solid 3 stars

A really sweet and moving exploration of love and vulnerability via BDSM. I really liked the slow reveal of Michael's characterization. It allowed the reader to really get into this young man's mind and feelings. In addition, the work is simply sweet and sexy. Very much an erotic monsterfucker romance for those of us who are looking for more of that sort of thing. There were a few good cameos and references to other Port Lewis characters to remind you that this story connects to the overall story and not just the place.

Unbroken is such a beautifully written book that felt at times as if it were a breathing thing that captivated my attention and soul. Unbroken focuses on Michael Gate and his searing attraction to Victor Lewellyn. I adored Michael and Victor. They had this undeniable chemistry and those soft moments of domesticity. It hurt to say goodbye because I felt entrapped in their whirlwind relationship in the hours I spent reading this book. Unbroken has complex family relationships between Michael and his sister Janice, complex ex-relationships in Victor and Vassa, as well as Michael and his abusive ex-partner. Michael's arc especially resounded and was a painful experience to read about. He's definitely a survivor who felt guilt over his action. It didn't help to have his sister remind him of his mistakes as he himself didn't live them. I felt for him. I wanted to hold him, comfort him. Thankfully, Victor was there. Victor is phew. He's hot, he's soft, he bakes, and he eats ass. He's the perfect demonic boyfriend. I love that Victor gave Michael softness and gentleness when Michael expected pain and punishment. He got Michael used to kindness without taking it away in a moment of surprise. I loved the exploration of emotional healing through the erotic aspect of this book. It was wholly satisfying. I recommend it to readers who like insta-lust, deep emotional connections, chaotic leads who are entirely marshmallow in the center, and overall a satisfying exploration of kink and desire.

A quick read, with a amazing writing with two nice young man in love.
Okay, not nice young man, but! the love, and the man yes! But let's put on a warning that one is a very nice demon! 

I loved reading about Michael and Victor, devoured the book so quickly too! A recommend from me!

demons! witches! character development! amazing ship dynamic! telling the truth to your friends about fucking the poltergeist and everyone thinking you're joking!

I also love that this book normalises introducing yourself by your pronouns even if you're cis / not nonbinary.

note: this is definitely erotica and it definitely has several sex scenes

overall, this turned out to be not really my cup of tea (for reasons, just look at the content notes), but I did like Victor a lot.

This was an enjoyable M/M paranormal romance; the two main characters both had issues in their past which were handled sensitively by the author and the romance was very cute. I also loved the creepy setting and atmosphere and this would be a perfect book for Halloween. I will definitely read the other books in the series.

I really enjoyed this story! It moved a little fast for me in the relationship aspect but definitely entertaining and kept me reading! This was also the first book I read in this series but I definitely want to continue and catch up with the characters both in previous books and future ones. 

I loved the mix of magic and witches in the small town and I really enjoyed the ending of this book and hope to see more of these characters in books to come.

This is my first true M/M romance novel, and I must say that I was at first surprised by this.  I went into this book completely blind, going off on first impressions of the cover, which were that I thought this was going to be dark and sinister.  In short, dark, yes, sinister, not even in the slightest.  Major trigger warnings here for rape, sexual abuse, and lots of blood.

To dive into the synopsis: The story follows 21-year-old Michael Gates after he has moved into the town of Port Lewis, which is said to be run by witches.  The house that he moves into with his sister is haunted by a demon named Victor, who Michael develops a serious sexual relationship with (not a spoiler as it happens pretty much right at the beginning of the story).  Through the relationship, Michael opens up about himself and his dark secrets as he learns more about Victor and the darkness that surrounds him.

For what the story was, it was entertaining and a quick read.  I enjoyed reading about Michael and Victor, and really liked how their relationship was built on trust and respect for each other, despite it being a very fast moving one.  The only thing that I didn’t care for with it is that in the first chapter Michael already becomes almost infatuated with Victor, which felt too much like insta-love for me, personally.

I do not wish to comment on the authenticity of the M/M romance and the sex scenes involved with them, as that is not within my perspective of life, and I am not a male within a male based relationship.  It felt authentic (within reason, since one of them is a demon) to me, and it felt like there was a true connection between the characters, which I greatly enjoyed.  I liked them both for their faults and their hang-ups, because it made them feel like real people (with the exception of Victor, of course).

I believe the plot of the story focuses on the relationship itself, which I liked.  The story still felt it had a great build to it, and tailored off in a way that was unexpected but interesting enough that kept me asking questions and wanting more from the story.  I liked the direction that the end of the novel was going for, and leads to some other possible stories with Michael and Victor that I would be excited to read about.

Another dark beauty from this author, I really dig the writing style (sharp and evocative) and the mix of new adult innocence and daring. The contents, which come with a warning, are unapologeticly dark and dangerous and sexy as sin. All three books in the series have been quick reads so far, and though I wouldn't mind seeing more of these stories fleshed out further, I'm well and truly hooked.

Unbroken is a stand alone erotic romance set in the Port Lewis universe.  It features a pansexual demon love interest (Victor), bratty bi MC (Michael), a lot of haunted house sex, and ownvoices rep.  Overall, it was good.  There were two pieces that didn't work for me as a reader; killing my suspense of disbelief.  The first being the insta-sex.  I wish Michael had been terrified and Victor had to win him over.  The second being the lack of plot.  Nothing truly happens.  I recommend Unbroken to established fans of the series and people who want a quick read with lots of steam. There are parts that are harsh and brutal with a lot of trauma and past abuse.  I liked the way the book dealt with this and what is said about consent.  Part of Michael's arc is tied to understanding that he didn't deserve what happened to him.  This book can be read without having to read the other books in the series.

TW: blood play, mentions of abuse and date rape (from Michael's previous relationship), discussions of self-harm/cutting, drug use, tarantula (Vic's familiar is a tarantual and i know some people are not about that spider life!) 

Wow, the Port Lewis world always sucks me in and Unbroken is no different. Michael is full of complications internally and I mean the complications extend outward as well. No surprise there because he gets involved with Victor whose a witch turned demon. I was captivated by how their relationship unfolded! Victor can be scary when needed but he was really sweet to Michael and baked! because he was a pastry chef which I just loved. 

And seeing characters from the previous books made me squee in joy. Especially one scene with a certain witch talking fondly about his boyfriend Ryder ;) 

I would say to be mindful of the trigger warnings i posted because while there were lots of sweet moments and great banter between Vic and Michael this book does explore some serious things.  Michael opening up to Victor was really well done but so hard to read because we're in Michael's POV for the entire book. Even so we get a great insight into who Victor was, how e became what he is, through Michael's eyes but Michael has been through so much and carries so much pain in him? It was tough to read at times. 

The book ends on a hopeful note for Victor and Michael. There's no doubt they are in it together but the ending also left it open to us possibly (i hope) seeing more of them!

WOW.

Michael is complicated, Victor is worse than complicated, and what they forge makes one heck of a story. As with the other books in this series, the setting is richly drawn and moody, magic is thick on the ground and in some cases barely restrained. (Don't forget your protective talisman.)

With a main character who has given their body and soul over to a demon, you might expect a dark and moody read. And this book is that, but not for the reasons you would think.

Victor, the witch become demon, does have a dark side that comes out to play at times. As described in the opening chapters, he’s quite creepy, but that’s deceptive; Victor/Allocer is probably among the nicest demonic entities in fiction. I mean, he bakes brownies for his guy! Except under certain circumstances, he’s pretty much a marshmallow.

The real darkness in this book resides in the POV character, Michael, who’s completely human. Michael’s prickly and caustic, and I found him difficult to like at first. That’s because he really doesn’t like himself, though. As the book unfolds, the reader learns more about Michael’s background, which includes some severe trauma. He’s definitely got reasons for his behavior. (Do check out the trigger warnings before reading.) Victor’s affection and care helps Michael to begin to come to terms with his past and start to heal, and the book ends with a much more positive mood. 

If you like atmospheric writing and hurt/comfort stories, give this book a try. The final chapter suggests that there’s more to come for Michael and Victor, and I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next.
