This novel had the hairs standing on the back of my neck- it is the stuff of nightmares a family being brutally murdered when they believe they are safe in their bed, and even more horrifically Becky witnessed her families slaying- something no one let alone a child should ever have to witness. Now an adult and still trying to recover after what Becky witnessed that horrific night she understandably wants answers, who brutally murdered her family and why?? It’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions and answers I wasn’t expecting.

Becky was the only survivor of the horrific and ritualistic killing of her entire family. Injured and terrified she saw her opportunity to run and she did. Rescued by a man in the woods.

Adult Becky is doing everything she can to find out who the killer was and why he hasn't been found. But when her digging starts getting people who help her killed in horrible ways, she doesn't stop, she just goes harder. Not knowing who to trust may just get her killed herself before she can find out the truth.

This was a very explicit and horrifying read. As a character I didn't care for Becky. But I did not see that ending!

This was a creepy read, but it wasn't the kind of thriller I was expecting. In this novel Becky, the survivor of a horrific attack that left her orphaned as a child, decides to track down her killer once and for all. To do this, she must offer herself up as bait.

It was enjoyable, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. I wanted to know more about Becky, for a start; to me it felt as though the novel went straight into the action without much of a backstory besides the attack. I wanted to know more about her as a person, her life, her relationships, what drives her as a person. I felt as though I knew nothing about her.

The Family was okay, but I felt myself skimming through a lot of it. This book wasn't the the gripping, fast-paced psychological thriller that I had expected it to be, it was more of a crime thriller. My rating of this book probably was, in all honesty, more down to personal preference rather than the book itself. It was not bad, not at all, it was just not my kind of thing.

(Just to clarify, the reason I downloaded it was because it certainly LOOKED like my kind of thing, packaged in the same way as the psychological thrillers that are currently on trend, the ones I tend to go for. It felt as though this was given a certain cover design to attract readers of these novels. This is not the first time this has happened, and to be honest it will only annoy readers who buy a book swiftly to realise it wasn't what they were expecting.)

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I thought it would be good, but man, it really pulled me in. It involves Becky, the sole survivor of her family's horrible ritualistic killings. Now a journalist, she's taking time off at the twentieth anniversary of the crime to travel and hunt for the killer who destroyed her family and who has eluded the authorities for so long. She suspects he has killed others and has escaped justice because he is well-connected to high-ranking authorities who cover his tracks.

The story can get pretty gory but somehow it works fine with the narrative and doesn't feel like it's written purely to shock or exploit. The characters are well-developed and realistic even though Becky can come across a little too 'Look at what a badass I am' sometimes. There's a lot of detail involving hacking and the dark web and for me personally, those parts could get a little hard to follow. There are good twists right up until the very end that should delight even the most seasoned mystery lover. Definitely not a book to miss!

Becky Morgan's family were the victims of the 'crimes of the decade'. The lone survivor of a ritualistic killing, Becky's been forever haunted by the memories of that night.

Twenty years later, with the killer never found, Becky is ready to hunt them down and exact revenge. But the path to find the murderer is a slippery slope and she finds herself opening up some old wounds that should have been left sealed

Thank you to net galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book it was a roller coaster ride

Ahhh I hate to admit it but this wasn’t a finisher :/
I gave up after 45% of the book, my mind kept wondering... what did I need from the shop? Who had rugby practice? Etc etc... NOT a good sign when reading an exciting new book.
I just couldn’t get to grips with it, i hate to use the term but after a promising and exciting start, it got boring.
Disappointing.

Dark, creepy, thrilling, sinister... sound intriguing? Then get The Family! This is a thrill ride to the max! Becky’s family was murdered and it’s been 20’years and the killer still hasn’t been found. Since Becky survived why not use herself as bait to get revenge on the person who killed her family! Fast paced and action packed!

To put it simply The Family is awesome! Thrilling, chilling and one hell of a mystery.
It's the best book I've read in years! Becky is a likeable character, the settings feel realistic and I was honestly sad to get to the end. If you're the type of person to only read a book every now and then make sure it's The Family!

The best way to catch a killer? Offer yourself as bait.

Will Becky avenge her family or join them?

Pretty dark and creepy. It was one I had to finish fast. Good read and a mystery.

A good dark creepy thriller. I kind of lost my way half way though. All in all a good thriller but did not really do much for me. Sorry x
