Not a lot of text but interesting, detailed pictures. I love the names of the characters.

Fossil the Crocodile loves to go to the beach with his friends. They have all sorts of fun. But Fossil likes to do things on shore. He’s scared to go in the water. Can he overcome his fear?

I like this book much more for the hide-n-seek aspect of it than the story. I didn’t feel like the book fully explored why Fossil is scared or how he overcomes his fear. (It just seems to happen pretty easily.) The illustrations are charming, though. And at the beginning of the book readers are given a list of items to find on each spread. The pages are busy enough that this takes a little while to accomplish, but they aren’t so busy that it is hard. It’d be a great book for kids with visual acuity issues (like lazy eye) who need to work on getting their eye muscles stronger in a fun way. It provides the perfect balance of being challenging enough to be fun, but not so hard that it frustrates. Animal lovers will also like that all of Fossil’s friends are named in the opening spread of the book so they can get to know ALL of them.

Three and a half stars.

You have to admit there is little to this book where the text is concerned. It reads in seconds, and tells of a crocodile and what he does (or does not) do at the beach. But visually, we're onto something, with a whole host of friends to locate, and their larks are quite witty and inventive. Other things to seek out, which must be a lot better to try IRL as opposed to with an e-arc, keep the young book consumer poring over the page, and hopefully by the end you have a fan of holding books and exploring pleasant, simple worlds like this, and hopefully of more complexities to come elsewhere.

This is such a cute book. I love how the beginning starts with a picture and name for each animal with a corresponding dot. However, I don't think children will really go that far into the story to realize the colored dots on each page match a character. The drawings were simple and colorful.

An easy to follow-a-long story for your children.

The Quite Crocodile was a beautiful illustrated book that seemed to go in too many different directions for me. It was a sweet book and I do think it will find its' way into the hearts of some readers.

I love the idea of having a seek and find set up in a traditional story. The illustrations are original and colorful, but the main thing that stands out is that Fossil doesn't move at all until the very end. His green swim trunks and the lines of his body grab your eye. You have to really take time to notice the other illustrations. The story itself seemed kind of off kilter as well, with Fossil teaching his friends elements of swimming when he's too afraid to get into the water himself. I read this book on my kindle app and the formatting was tough to follow.

This book is most appealing as a hidden pictures adventure. There are numerous objects to find in each two page spread. Young children will also enjoy finding all of Fossil's friends in the pictures. The text is minimal. Will Fossil go in the water? Children will find out by the end of the book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a day at the beach. All thoughts are my own.

Children will have a lot of fun looking for the hidden objects in the story, and also remembering the names of each of these friends. The story possibly needed a better ending - what happens after the giant splash when he does get into the water? I would have liked to see the floaties on Crocodile. Four-year-olds will like this. Good way for children to talk about their fears.

Pretty simple. Might have worked better as a picture book. I would have liked to see the croc actually wearing floaties.

I was a little disappointed with this one. It looked fun, the illustrations colorful. But, each page did not differentiate much from the one before it. I wouldn't be able to bring much character to it while reading to a child. I think addressing having/overcoming a fear was poorly executed and the repetition of each much made it kind of boring. This one fell flat for me

This book is more about finding things in the pictures than it is about the actual story (which is really weak). In fact, the book would work without any text at all, since there's no plot. Fossil being afraid of the water is kind of meaningless; he still ends up joining his friends with a splash at the end after a little bit of cajoling.

I didn't bother to try to find all of the objects on every page, but I did find a few. All of the animals are colour-coded with a dot, and there's a growing line of dots on each page that seems to signify how many animals have gotten into the water. I'm not sure what the point of that is, other than as something else to count.

I guess I was expecting more of a story. If you're looking for a book where kids can find all the hidden objects, this might be okay. (Although, if that's really what you're after, Jean Marzollo's I Spy books are probably much more fun.)

This is a cute story about a crocodile and his friends at the beach. The children in my classroom are 2 and 3 years old. My 2 year olds were not very interested in the story, or the pictures, but my 3 year old enjoyed the pictures. The story was a little advanced for my kiddos, but it would be perfect for children ages 4 and up. The encouragement and friendships shown towards the crocodile are cute and easily understood by my 2 and 3 year olds. I will not be using this story in my classroom, but if I had a preschool, first or second grade class, this would be great in my curriculum to teach about acceptance, encouragement, bravery and friendship. The pictures were a little too confusing for my kids, but older children will love looking at all the little details, the animals, and the "hidden" images.

This was a cute book. The words were out of order and formatted strange, so I was unable to read the story accurately. I was still able to get the gist of the story and it seemed like a good one. The illustrations were done very well and I loved the crocodile being in the center with different things on it each page. I look forward to the next book!

Little will easily relate to this story! Fossil, the crocodile is scared of water, but loves going to the beach with his friends. So many things to look for in the illustrations! Littles are going to have a field day searching for things! Fun Story! Busy, but entertaining illustrations.
