I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Loved the bright colorful pictures. I liked the message of trying something new and teamwork. Great for young kids.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Lucy sees her friend playing basketball and she joins in. She learns a lot from NBA star and their coach. Cute book.

When Lucy and her friends see Ava playing basketball, they go over to learn more. Ava's cousin Jermaine is a professional basketball player who shares some information and coaches them in some basic skills. They have a lot of fun, then get to go to an actual professional game and watch Jermaine and his teammates put the skills they learned into practice. This is a wonderful book to encourage kids to get involved in sports whether it is a traditional male or female sport. It is written in rhyming pattern, but the cadence is not as smooth as other books in this series. The illustrations are cute and enrich the text greatly. This book is a winner. A great book to be in home, class, school and public libraries.

This is the second or third Lucy book I have reviewed and I have enjoyed them all. This one Lucy and her friends learn to play basketball. The artist does a great job with inclusively, that pages rhyme, and the story works. My only complaint is there is no cadence to the rhymes which can make it a tongue twister when reading it aloud.

Cute introduction to basketball for toddlers with good teamwork messages. My 3 year old son, who loves bouncing basketballs, really enjoyed this book. We will be getting it at the library so that we can enjoy larger illustrations since I read this on the Kindle and everything was in black and white.

I received both the English and French versions of this book, and what an amzing pair! Perfect for bilingual children or teaching kids second languages. Story is cute, flows nicely, and is simple enough for young children but born too boring for older children (especially when they get to use the book to learn a new language!), also love the diversity of the children drawn.

Lucy is at the park and meets up with a friend, Ava. Ava is playing basketball with her pro-ball player cousin, Jermaine. Jermaine agrees to teach the kids at the park how to play the game.

The rhythm of the dialogue is intriguing though the story is lacking. In a sense, there's no real "story" just a quick lesson on how to play basketball. It's a missed opportunity to show a lesson of perseverance and good sportsmanship.

It reads easy and students/kids will love the basketball facts at the end. It provides educators a good opportunity to read and then get active.

I was not as enthralled with this book as I was with the Lucy Tries Hockey. It didn't seem that big a breakthrough for Lucy to try basketball, and it didn't seem to be as vibrant a story. The characters seemed to be just going though the motions.

Lucy still smiles throughout, but I didn't feel as though this was such a big thing.

Cute series, and cute idea, but this one didn't seem to be quite as interesting a story.

And since it has been 40 years since I studied French, it didn't help that both the English and French version downloaded to the French version.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

Well I don't know enough French to be able to read this story but I do love the art work. I love that this is a book about a girl trying the sport of basketball and I love that it is inclusive with one character being in a wheelchair.

I was not able to read this book because the version was not in English. I thought maybe there was a mix up in the files and tried to download the version where the cover is not in English, but it was not the case that they were switched.
