Wow. This is everything that a memoir should be and I have not been this impacted by someone's story in such a long time. I am sad this book hasn't been getting the attention it deserves and I vow to recommend it whenever I can! I think there are a lot of people who need to read this.

This book is the story of a family overcoming obstacles that may have seemed insurmountable at first, but with patience and love, turned into a family love story for the ages. Amanda Jette Knox is a gifted writer, showing a vulnerable side that anyone who has struggled with self esteem, bullying or making difficult decisions can relate to. With openness and honesty, she shares her families trials and tribulations with coming to grips with who they all truly were inside. It's a powerful memoir and one for everyone to read.

Love Lives Here by Amanda Jett Knox is a memoir written from the perspective of a woman whose partner and child came out as transgender in quick succession. Knox is very candid in her story; she does not attempt to paint herself in a positive light or claim that her family’s journey was without bumps in the road. The reader joins her as she initially experiences shock and discomfort, but gradually gets to a point of acceptance and peace. This is a very engaging memoir that is surprisingly witty in spite of its serious subject matter.

I just finished it and what a wonderful book it was.
This is Amanda's memoir about her experience of living with her transgender daughter and wife. So much emotion, love, courage and acceptance in this story. Truly an inspirational must read story!

Wow! I devoured this book on under 24 hours. The writing is top notch, a few typos, but not enough to detract from this poignant memoir. This story is a breath of fresh air waiting for your peek into the wonderfulness of love....family....and more love.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC copy of the book. The opinions expressed above are my own.

The author writes stunningly about her experience parenting a trans child and being married to a trans spouse. It is not often that one person can give multiple perspectives; Love Lives Here is an excellent example of memoir as a result. Highly recommended.

To be perfectly honest with you, I had no idea what Love Lives Here was going to be about. I picked it solely on the title. Then I started it. And wow, my heart fills so full after reading.

LLH is about a family. It's a family who goes through challenges that most people do not. If you are not someone who loves or accepts transgender people, then this book probably isn't for you. Or maybe it is. Maybe you want to learn more of the daily struggles or just find that you want to be more accepting.

This book will help you realize trans people are people just like the rest of us. All of us with our challenges and struggles and hoops we have to jump through. I loved this book so much for helping me love my fellow humans even more. This is the type of book that makes you feel all the emotions, but most importantly, hope.

This kept me up until four in the morning even though I know how it ends - if that's not the hallmark of a great book, I don't know what is. If you know Amanda, it can be easy to forget that she has, not to put too fine a point on it, Gone Through Some Crap, even before her daughter and her wife came out as trans. This is an unflinchingly honest, unapologetic, hilarious, heartwrenching, clear-eyed account of a bunch of that crap. I guess coming through the fires of horrific life-threatening bullying, adolescent addiction, sexual trauma and then learning to accept that two of your family members were assigned the wrong gender at birth must really season the soul. As a long-time reader of Amanda's blog, I knew that she could write. As a fairly long-time friend, I knew that she was a big-hearted, generous woman. This book roundly confirms both of those things. She's neither naive nor cowed in the face of all the hate that is out there, much of it directed at her and her family daily. She just realizes that, for the most part, living well - and having the wittiest quips on social media - is the best revenge.

Will review on Amazon upon publication.

Times I full on cried: 8
Times I laughed out loud: too many to count

Amanda Jette Knox's memoir about having a trans child and a trans spouse alternates between first person POV Amanda’s story and 3rd POV for her wife’s story. Written with barefaced honesty—Knox never tries to make herself look good, and it is the recounting her own missteps that make this book so meaningful. We all screw up, we all fail our loved ones in big and small ways no matter how hard we try, but if we keep trying, we will get there eventually. That’s the hope of this book. We travel with her through the initial discomfort and bumbling missteps to a place of advocacy, peace, and acceptance.

Through it all, Knox's self-deprecating humor carries us. This book will warm your heart and renew your faith in love.

A Tremendous Reading Experience
Love Lives Here is a masterpiece of a memoir, that does more than tell an incredible story, it also teaches each step along the way, so that while the reader is entertained, they are also enriched. This book takes us down to the deepest, darkest parts of the human heart and leaves us there to look around for a bit, only to find that even in the shadows, love still shines through. This book forces us to do something very powerful, it forces us to feel. We laugh with the author, we cry with her, we cringe with her, and in the end, we cheer with her, because she leaves us with one last important feeling, hope.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks NetGalley!

Love Lives Here is a memoir of a family with two transgender members. Jette's middle child came out as transgender at the age of 11. She transitioned from Jette's son to daughter. A little while later, Jette's spouse also came out as transgender! The family has become a role model for many!

This memoir was beautiful.

This is such a raw and heartfelt book about a family who just happens to include two trans members. It took a lot of courage to take her family’s story out in the open. Amanda’s story comes from such love. After dealing with so much bullying, heartbreak and grief, they have landed in the life they are meant to live, authentically and non-apologetically.
It is 2019 and this is a necessary read.
Congrats Amanda and your family for this love letter. It will help so many people who are afraid to live who they really are and those who want to support them. I understand so much more now.

Love Wins.

Thank you NetGalley.

This was one of the more interesting books that I have read. I don't personally know someone that is transgender (I most likely do, they just haven't come out to me in that manner) but being the mom of teenage girls I hear them talk about what some of their classmates go through who identify this way.

I know how hard it is to be a parent and wife but to have to deal with transgender with a spouse and a child is something I can't comprehend. The author did a great job of walking us through how each part of her life unfolded.

I would highly recommend this book because of the topic discussed and how the author lays the groundwork.

I have really been into memoirs lately. This one is beautifully written. It is beautiful the love she showed her child when so many don't. Thanks netgalley for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
