4.5 stars rounded up. Christmas in Vermont is a story of second chances, soulmates, and serendipity. Emma has once again broken up with her boyfriend just before Christmas, not making it to the one year mark. She tried to return his Christmas gift, an an bracelet with an emerald clasp, but he won't take it back. She decides to pawn it and donate the money to charity. At the pawn shop, she recognizes a watch, that she gave her first and only love, Fletcher, in the counter. On impulse she asks to see it and there is the inscription she had put on it. She buys it, and shares that story with her best friend, Bronwyn. Bronwyn does some digging and finds out that Fletcher has returned to the US from London and is vacationing in Vermont at a small inn. She books a week for Emma, insisting it is synchronicity. She is sure that Fletcher is the reason that Emma has not found the man she wants to spend her life with. Emma finally agrees and heads to Vermont. Will they be able to rekindle their love for one another?

This is a wonderful, Christmas romance. Emma is a woman who wants to find love, but has never had a relationship last more than a year. Bronwyn is her best friend, a happily married mother of two, and her biggest cheerleader. She knows that Emma has never stopped loving Fletcher and will do whatever she can to bring them together. Fletcher's daughter, Lola, steals the book for me. She is a precocious, talented young lady, who is not very happy with her father's latest woman. She feels left out and that their relationship with him is being destroyed. She quickly becomes attached to Emma, as she practises with her for the talent show. When she finds out that they knew each other years ago, she begins to confide in her and try to get them together. This was a sweet story, with Christmas festivities, a bit of Christmas magic, friendship, family, selfishness, caring and romance. It might have been a little predictable, but this is one I very much enjoyed and recommend.

Emma and Fletcher used to be a couple until a misunderstanding years ago ripped them apart. Now that Emma is alone again after almost a year of being with someone, her pattern, her best friend stalks Fletcher and books Emma in the same hotel that Fletcher is at. It was an ok book. It was an easy read but just very over the top in parts and I don't feel the connection between Fletcher and Emma. It was an easy read just not much depth to it for me.

What a fun and light Christmas read. I enjoyed this story set at a Vermont Bed and Breakfast-in fact I wish the town and the BnB were real, because I'd love to visit! This story has several charming characters, especially Lola-she definitely steals the story. A quick and easy read, perfect for holiday reading.

I wanted to visit Vermont after reading this book. The characters are likeable, the plot is sweet, and the descriptions of the food made me hungry as I read! Hughes reminds the reader that while some things appear to occur by chance, we should always be open to circumstances that can work out for our good. Would recommend this for someone looking for a quick, fun read during the holiday season.

Five Fabulous Second Chance Stars!!

I really enjoyed this second chance romance set in a small town in Vermont. Emma went to Snowberry to get away from a boyfriend she dumped because she was afraid he was going to propose. Fletcher came to Vermont with his daughter Lola and his fiance. Emma and Fletcher had been an item in college, but had gone their separate ways. Will they get back together? Read and find out.

Emma loves New York during the holidays. She broke up with her boyfriend Scott five days ago. Emma wasn't in love with Scott and afraid she's not able to be in love with anyone. I wasn't interested in the story.

Christmas in Vermont is a magical holiday read by Anita Hughes. A story that sweeps you away to a snowy Smuggler's Inn in Vermont. The perfect background for a magical Christmas. I could not put Christmas in Vermont down and keep turning the pages wanting more. Christmas in Vermont is perfect for those who love a little Christmas magic.

Second chance romance with a bit of O. Henry magic. Emma's friend Bronwyn's machinations pay off when Fletcher is at the inn too. A nice read for the holiday season.

I absolutely love Christmas stories and I was thrilled with Christmas in Vermont. The plot was a bit predictable, but the story was still well rounded and enjoyable. Anita Hughes really captured the essence of Christmas with her story. I really felt like I could picture the scenes perfectly. The characters were well developed and I really loved the cozy feel that emanates from this book.

Better than a Hallmark Movie!!!

I fell in love with the setting of this story! Anita Hughes descriptions always make me feel like I have lived them. This story was romantic, realistic and put me right into the holiday spirit! I want to see this book become a movie!! London, Paris, a Chalet and Vermont....I cannot wait to see where Anita Hughes takes me for Christmas next year.

I was up til 4am finishing this story. We can allrelate to the main character, can't we? We all have the one who got away, or the timing wasn't right. I found so many parallels in reading about their past, which is woven into the current story.. Made me miss college a bit. Perfect holiday read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to preview.
