This delightful book is inspired by Anne of Green Gables. If you enjoy the original story at all you will love this one. But, anyone can enjoy the character of Anne and her spirited story in this book. This is an early reader series, but older readers can enjoy the hijinks too, especially if you are an Anne fan.

“One thing’s for certain,” she said at last. “No house will be dull as long as Anne Shirley lives in it.”

This book follows Anne’s relationship with her guardians, siblings Marilla and Matthew, shortly after they adopted her, as well as the beginnings of Anne’s friendship with Diana. The text and images in this book are simple and charming. This is overall a beautiful book that I really enjoyed reading and now want to have a physical copy of.

Thank you for the free review book, NetGalley. This is the second short chapter book by Kallie George based on Anne of Green Gables. The kids in our school library loved the first book, Anne Arrives, and they couldn't wait to read this one. Kindred Spirits focuses on Anne meeting Diana, and it's just as much fun as the first book by George and the original by Montgomery. These books are also just so beautiful to add to a collection.

I'm loving this series more and more with each new book. George has perfectly captured the spirit of L. M. Montgomery's style in this adaptation for younger readers.

This is the second book in an early reader series about Anne of Green Gables. I read the first book in this series, Anne Arrives, a beautifully illustrated adaptation of Anne of Green Gables aimed at early readers last year. These books follow the story of Anne, Matthew and Marilla, so it is best to read these books in order. This short chapter book covers the meeting of Anne and Diana and their wonderful friendship that develops. I wish this series had been around when I tried to read Anne to my young daughter. It is very true to the original story with wonderful illustrations that appear vintage so as not to take away from the time period of the story. They do a wonderful job of depicting the storyline. This would make a beautiful series for a parent and child to read together while introducing them to the world of Anne with an "e". Even with this shorter version, the personalities of Anne, Marilla, Matthew and Diana shine through. This is a great book to introduce young children to a classic piece of literature.

I love how this book continues Anne's journey. Using similar but simpler language, Anne is accessible for a younger audience. The author depicts the true Anne, without compromising her character or the reader's hearts. Well crafted and will continue to be well-loved!

We are so glad the next book in the early reader Anne series is here! We loved Anne Arrives so much we were eagerly anticipating Anne’s Kindred Spirits by the wonderful team of Kallie George and Abigail Halpin. Taking us back to Green Gables and the time when Anne meets Diana and a bosom friendship is forged. We also get a chance to explore the time when Marilla’s amethyst brooch goes missing. Two defining moments in Anne’s early days at Green Gables.

Again, The Bee and I are absolutely loving that we can curl up and visit with Anne in a way she can understand and be involved in the story. As a five year old girl with red hair, The Bee really feels like she and Anne are kindred spirits. She can see some of herself reflected back as she certainly has all the spunk of Miss Anne Shirley. Abigail Halpin’s illustrations are spot on once again, evoking the late nineteenth century and Anne’s coming of age and truly finding her place in the world. Abigail Halpin paints the loveliest scenes of Green Gables, Orchard Slope, an all the beauty of P.E.I. We cannot wait to continue to explore Anne’s life together and truly hope there will be many more Anne books to come

'Anne's Kindred Spirits: Inspired by Anne of Green Gables' by Kallie George with illustrations by Abigail Halpin is the second chapter book in a series adapting Anne of Green Gables.

This time around, Anne learns that she is going to meet her neighbor Diana. She is convinced they will be best of friends. She is even more excited when she learns that she and her new friend can go to a picnic. Things take a bad turn when Marilla accuses Anne of taking a favorite piece of jewelry. Anne says she is innocent, but her punishment may make her miss the picnic.

The classic book these books are based on works really well as a series of chapter books. The illustrations by Abigail Halpin just enhance the story really well.

I cannot believe how thoroughly I enjoyed this, it tells the short story of when Anne and Diana met and became friends. I love the storytelling, how simple and beautiful it is at the same time. This is so accessible for children who are too young to read the Anne novels. As a lifelong lover of the Anne of Green Gables series I know that I will be recommending this to the children I know and their parents. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful!

Anne of Green Gables is one of my all-time favorite books. I enjoyed reading "Anne Arrives" earlier this year, so I jumped on downloading the second book in the Anne chapter book series. "Anne's Kindred Spirits" is a great continuation of the first book and stays true to the classic novels. The artwork throughout is beautiful as well. I know this will be popular with kids and adults alike at my library.

This short, but adorable beginner chapter book is an excellent introduction to the world of L.M. Momtgomery's Anne of Green Gables. The words are pure Anne-with-an-e, and the illustrations are darling. I wish that I had these books when I was little or that my daughter had them.

I was so happy to see this follow up to Anne Arrives. Much like the first book in this series, only one small part of Anne's story is told in an abridged manner. Each two-page spread has some story on one side and a lovely illustration on the other.

These books are a wonderful way to introduce very young children to the wonderful world of Anne of Green Gables. Perfect as a stepping stone between picture books and chapter books, this book would be wonderful to read together.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5

The second chapter in a early reader's series, this story focuses on L. M. Montgomery's memorable Canadian orphan, Anne Shirley and her beginning friendship with Diana Barry, the Sunday school picnic, and the incident with Marilla's amtheyst brooch. An illustrated book, young readers will no doubt be attracted to the friendly vocabulary and colourful pictures.

Since Anne of Green Gables is the book that made me a reader, I love that the beloved story continues to capture a new generation of readers. A nice keepsake for Anne fans old and new.

A short children's story taken from the much loved 'Anne of Green Gables'. I think it's great to give small children a sampling of classics to get them acquainted with the classics. I think when the children are more grown they will read and be drawn to the full classic.I enjoyed reliving the story again in this small snippet!

Second book in a series that breaks down a classic for younger readers. This book follows Anne finding a kindred spirit, aka a best friend. The illustrations in the novel bring to life the beloved characters. They are beautifully drawn and colored.

The second in a new series inspired by the original L.M. Montgomery books, this easy reader is a charming way to introduce young readers to the spunky, outspoken heroine of Green Gables. Accompanied by delightful illustrations, this book maintains the spirit of the original while simplifying the story and making it accessible to beginning readers.

This particular book focuses on the beginning of Anne and Diana's friendship--and the adventures they find along the way. Anne was my first bosom friend, and I'm excited that Kallie George is writing this series for a new generation of brave and daring young girls, who will fight for friendship as fiercely as Anne Shirley.

Anne of Green Gables was my favorite book as a child and I think this new series is a great way for younger children to discover the adventures of Anne Shirley. I do wish the illustration style was a bit different so the characters didn't appear so thin and the faces were were a bit more expressive but the storytelling is perfection.

Anne of Green Gables is a classic book, well loved. And while I usually prefer to read the original, I must say these snipping up of the story into bitesized stories for younger readers is just fine as well. This manages to give a taste of the missing broach story as well of the story of how she met her bosom friend.

The illustrations are delightful. And the endpapers are done in old fashioned wall paper.

So if the series continues like this, a young reader could get the whole story in a series of books.

And I think this was a good idea to adopt this story, because it shows how misunderstandings happen. How Marilla wanted Anne to confess to something she didn't do, but the only way out was to confess to something that she didn't do.

I'm hoping that readers will read the original when they grow older, too.
