This was a really cute picture book that offers a lot, if you take the time to take it in. A girl is not excited to be going into the not-so-great outdoors with her family. What’s wrong with staying in the city?? There’s nothing to do outdoors, nothing to see, not as much fun to be had… or is there?

I loved how the illustrations in this book contradicted the text, offering little secrets to readers who take the time to enjoy them. And I love the way we get to watch the girl slowly start enjoying her vacation with her family, joining in on the fun rather than sitting out. I can see this book being a hit with readers who love the outdoors and immediately pick up on all the things the girl is missing. I think it might help readers who prefer to stay indoors too, as it shows them that there are things to see and adventures to be had in the great outdoors if they are willing to open their eyes and minds.

Final verdict: I loved it! I thought this book was great! I might buy it for myself and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I received an arc of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't really care for the illustrations, but this is a decent picture book I guess, for kids who are interested.

I really enjoyed this book. It is timely, in that, kids spend too much time on devices and do not appreciate the world around them. I loved how the girl in the pictures was depicted so grumpily and how she changed when she saw the BEARS! The pictures are sensational and the smaller amount of text allows readers to look at the pictures which truly help tell the story!

A skeptical camper doesn't see why getting out of the city and into nature is such a big deal until a surprise sighting opens her eyes to the wonders of the great outdoors. Simple text and detailed illustration pair beautifully in a book that begs to be read to reluctants and nature enthusiasts alike.

The little girl in this story hates nature. She wants her WiFi and her electricity, and she doens't see what the big point of this all is.

This is a cute book that starts out juxtaposition what nature has, with what the little girl claims it doesn't have. In one example, she says talks about missing the lights of the city, while above her is the aurora borealis.

Gradually, it all wears on her, and she realizes what a stunning place the outdoors is.

Fun to look at the pictures, as more and more of nature appears around her.

Thanks to Netwally for making this book available for an honest review.

Pretty good outdoors book, not necessarily unique book but good length and story. Nice length for a quick read.

This is a relatable story about a young girl who gets dragged off on a family trip for some camping and sightseeing in nature. At first, she doesn't want to go, and she keeps comparing the great outdoors with her urban home. Eventually, though, the sight of some bears at the side of the road intrigues her, and she comes to realize that the wonders offered by nature can be just as interesting as the ones created by humans.

I don't know that I loved the illustrations, but there's plenty to look at in them, and they help tell the story well. (I think it's the rough-looking style that's giving me pause.) The details are fun, though.

Overall, this is a decent picture book about the value of setting aside technology and city life for a simpler experience of being in nature... at least for a little while. I think many kids will be able to relate to having to go on a trip that they aren't that excited about, only to find out that it's kind of fun, after all.
