Thank you for the free review copy, NetGalley. These cute little board books are so much fun. Again, the graphics and simple introduction to Anne of Green Gables make these such sweet books.

Anne's Feelings is another entry into Kelly Hills gorgeously-illustrated picture books based on the Anne of Green Gables stories. While previous knowledge of Anne's adventures is helpful, it is not necessary to enjoy this book. While the book does a good job of explaining different emotions, it's not perfect. I'm not sure if young children, the audience for this book, can really grasp the concept of "depths of despair." Also, the illustration for "anger" includes Anne about to break her slate over Gilbert's head. While this is an integral part of the Anne storyline, it might require an additional discussion with your children about anger and physical violence.

I have been reading this series to my granddaughter and I was happy to read this book to her. Again, she did not understand the Anne of Green Gables connection, but that did not stop her from enjoying the book. This book shows scenes from the classic story and matches the feeling. They included hopeful, scared, surprised, happy, angry and of course, the depths of despair. I liked most of the scenes except, angry, where she is pictures holding a slate over Gilbert's head as if to hit him with it. I had to explain to her that she couldn't hit people when she is angry. She kept saying that Anne was going to hit him on the head because she was mad and then laughed. This was enough for me to take this book down a star. Having said that, I enjoy this series and I can't wait until she is old enough for me to read the early chapter books and the actual novels to and with her. The illustrations were once again amazing. They are done with sewing, quilting and embroidery and the colors and fabrics are chosen to create beautiful images. They really add to the aesthetics of the book. Older fans of Anne with an E might want this book for their collection as it brings back great memories of the book and the scenes depicted are pretty iconic.

Anne {with an E} is my kindred spirit and has been since my mom introduced the books and the 1980s mini-series to me. My life, oddly, but delightfully, mirrors Anne’s in so many ways. So it should come as no surprise that, not only do I adore ‘Anne’s Feelings’ and feel delighted to be chosen to view an early copy, but I have also since purchased a hardcopy for myself. (Myself being an almost-40-year-old woman with two sons that do not read board books much anymore.)

Illustrations can make or break a children’s book, and Kelly Hill outdid herself with this sweet series. Each image is beautifully appliqued & embroidered to tell about the feelings Anne experiences in her time at Green Gables...such as, “Anne feels Hopeful” as she sits at the train station awaiting Matthew to pick her up. Of the four ‘Anne’ books by Hill, this one is, by far, my favorite.

This book is an absolute must for any Anne lovers in your life. Hands down, 5-stars!

Thank you to Tundra Books & NetGalley for the digital copy to review.

This is a extra beautifully designed book with a sweet idea. Anne of Green Gables for the little ones too is very special for those to start enjoying this story and character. It is a wonderful idea. The illustrations are really fantastic!

Anne of Green Gables fans rejoice. Now there is a way to introduce your littlest readers to the beloved Anne of Green Gables. Kelly Hill has created some lovely board books filled with all things Anne. You get hints from the stories in all of the spreads and you still get the richness of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s lyrical text in the simplest of board books.

What makes these books so incredibly unique is the illustration style. Kelly Hill is a fabric artist, creating all of the illustrations out of fabric in applique style. You can see the incredible attention to detail of each of the spreads, fabric and embroidery together to depict Anne and her kindred spirits and Green Gables. The blocks are so beautiful I could see them all come together in a beautiful Anne quilt and what reader, big or small wouldn’t love an Anne quilt to snuggle and keep them warm.

I love how Kelly Hill chose to do a book about feelings. It’s so important for young children to have their feelings acknowledged and understood and it’s incredibly important for them to realize that having feelings is okay and perfectly normal. In Anne’s Feelings, we get a glimpse of all of the emotions Anne experiences throughout her time on Prince Edward Island

Beautiful illustrations!! Although intended for young readers, adults who treasure Anne of Avonlea will love all the picture references from her story. A great way to teach emotions!

Another board book that uses the chapter book Anne of Green Gables as a reference point. For those who know the full story, the aspect of feeling, like brave, surprised, etc make sense. But if you have no prior information on the background of the story, then this version loses all meaning. I do love the fabric illustrations, but overall, the book can not work for most people.

Anne's feelings by Kelly Hill will teach little kids about feelings in the most beautiful, exciting and fun way. The illustrations show feelings. Beautiful book.

This book is perfect for introducing the concept of feelings to young children. My daughter really enjoyed this book. She especially enjoyed the illustrations, they were really colourful and vibrant. They aided her in identifying each expression Anne was feeling on each page.
Overall, a great introductory book. Would recommend to any parent of young children.

While the intended audience won't know Anne, the parents likely will, and I feel this book is as much for adults as it is for children. The applique illustrations are so sweet and lovely, and the emotions presented are things we all have felt, and will help kids learn about these big feelings.

I think these Kelly Hill books are adorable. I think these books are a beautiful way for the generations of readers who grew up loving the original tales of Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery to share that love with their children and grandchildren. There are probably better books out there for teaching children about feelings but they don't evoke the same nostalgia as this one will.

The heart of L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables is Anne's imagination and her big feelings. In this book, Anne's peculiar words and feelings are perfectly illustrated--a perfect introduction to the character of Anne Shirley for young readers.

I loved The Anne of Green Gables series as a child so there was a lot of nostalgia for me while reading this adorable children's book. Anne's Feelings is presented in a unique way with each "feeling" show in embroidery and the images look sewn together. I think this would be a great book to read with an older toddler or young preschooler to talk about what different emotions can feel and look like.

This is an adorable book featuring the irrepressible Anne Shirley in delightful embroidered illustrations. Each feeling relates back to something in the novels. Young children can learn to identify how feelings are expressed when looking through this book. Another welcome addition to what I hope will be a long series of Anne books.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this delightful book. All opinions are my own.

This little board book is simple, but absolutely adorable. It runs through various feelings, everything from "the depths of despair" to "full of wonder", and shows iconic moments from the original Anne of Green Gables novel through unique embroidered illustrations.

Parents reading through this book with their children are likely to get a little more out of it than the kids at this point. Or maybe they'll just get something different out of it. For kids, the takeaway is the various feelings that can be discussed. For parents, the fun part is likely to be the nostalgia about the original story. But this book could be a great way to introduce kids to the character and spark interest in reading her story (perhaps when they're a little older).

The illustrations are very cute. Anne and other characters are stitched with bright threads and fabrics. Each "feeling" word is also embroidered. The whole book is very appealing to look at.

At first glance, this appears to be a basic board book about feelings for very young readers. But adults are likely to enjoy having a look through this one, too.

Cute book to help early learners (toddlers/preschoolers) identify emotions. I thought the artwork was cute!
