“The Healing Jar” is the third book in the Prayer Jar series. This book wraps up the stories of the three young women that were introduced to readers in the first two books of the series.
The author clearly details the personal growth of each character. All loose ends are neatly tied up by the end of the story. Amish school teacher Lenore finally finds her true love and life calling. Sara finds her biological father. Michelle settles down in her new Amish community with her husband and new baby.
The author obviously intended to educate the reader about details of Amish life. The great amount of detail in some instances seems contrived and overdone, and some readers might skip over those details in order to get to the rest of the story. The Christian aspect of the stories is overt, and some readers may prefer a more subtle inclusion of Christianity. However, the importance of Christianity in the lives of the characters is made clear as the story unfolds, and is really an integral part of the storyline.
I appreciated the short synopses of action from the previous two books, which helped readers to catch up with what was happening before “The Healing Jar” began. Some readers might still be confused if they have not read the previous two books. Switching the action between locations and characters also might prove to be puzzling for some readers.
The discussion questions really encourage and guide the reader to reflect on the deeper issues addressed in the story. The questions would also support book group discussion.
I received this book from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I have enjoyed reading Wanda Brunstetter's books for many years. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This book centers mostly around Lenore Lapp. Lenore is a twenty something Amish woman. She is a schoolteacher that has given up hope of finding love. She lives with her Grandparents.
Lenore soon meets Jesse Smucker and his baby daughter Cindy. Jesse lost his wife and has recently moved to the area to find a new start. They strike up a friendship and Leonore comes to care for Jesse and Cindy.
The book follows the ups and downs in Lenore's life. I really enjoyed the interaction between characters and the story line was very good.

Wanda brunstetter’s final book in The Prayer Jars series, The Healing Jar, was a sweet and heartfelt conclusion. Not only did we see more of Michelle and Sara from the first two books, we got to learn more about Lenore, Sara’s cousin. Lenore is a school teacher and desperate to be married and starting a family of her own. When widows Jesse moves to town with his infant daughter Cindy, they two become closer and start to court. Lenore is so excited to find her dreams coming true, but Jesse is worried. He doesn’t feel that he can love Lenore enough to marry her and calls off the wedding. Heart stricken, Lenore tries to move on, but finds her heart is still attached to Jesse and Cindy. While struggling, she reads promises from the two prayer jars that Sara and Michelle has found previously. When a third jar is uncovered though, long lost family secrets are revealed and lives change, finding healing that has been long overdue. I really loved these books. I am so glad I got to read and review them. If you enjoy Amish fiction, these will warm your heart and bring a smile. Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour publishing for allowing me this opportunity. All opinions are my own.

I have always read Wanda Brunstetter's Amish books. The are well written, sometimes sweet and funny, but always tug at your heartstrings. The book I was sent was only a sampler. Not a full book, which was disappointing because how I would have loved to finish the whole book! It was really a wonderful partial book.

I was given this book to read from NetGalley. I love this new series. The Healing Jar is an excellent read and I have recommended it to our library patrons. This is my true opinion.

Wanda Brunstetter really knows how to tell a heartwarming story that equally tugs at your heartstrings and makes you joyful. After reading the first two books in the trilogy, I was looking for loose ends to be tied, and she wrapped everything up beautifully.
Lenore struggles through hardships throughout the whole story. She is longing to be a wife and a mother, she loses her grandfather, and she is losing her passion and joy for teaching. It felt like the odds were stacked against her, and the reader feels every bit of her emotions, as the author expertly conveys that through her writing. Brunstetter weaves her faith through it all, just as faith should be woven through each of our lives.
All in all, I truly enjoyed the end of this trilogy and would recommend all three books to all.

Wow! What a fantastic conclusion to the Prayer Jar trilogy!!! The Healing Jar tells Lenore's story, but also continues the story of Michelle and Sara with their marriages and lives. Lenore and Jesse meet and develop a friendship out of necessity. As Lenore cares for her grandparents and works as a teacher in her local Amish school, she also struggles with her desire to become a wife and mother. Meanwhile, Jesse's wife died and he moves to a new location. Follow the journey of Lenore, Michelle, and Sara in this delightful book by Wanda E. Brunstetter.

Wanda's books are alway's so well written! she never disappoint's! I always say a well writting book is always to short! I loved the story between Lenore and Jesse! I loved all the characters. loved the cover and the title to it

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. Out of all the books in this series, this was definitely my favorite. I so much enjoy reading an Amish book that has love and trials. The main characters, Lenore and Jesse were so much fun and so easy to follow in love with. You can just smell grandma's cooking and wishing that you could be a part of the meal and the conversation. I so very much enjoyed it.

Thank you to Barbour Publishing, Inc, via Netgalley for the opportunity to read/review the ARC of The Healing Jar by Wanda E. Brunstetter.
I am in love with Amish reads. That said, I particularly love all Amish reads by Wanda Brunstetter. She is an amazing author, always staying true to her followers. I am not Amish, and sometimes am not even sure what I believe. Wanda's books are soothing. They do not force religion on anyone, they are just about good people living a pure and simple lifestyle. This book, like her others, support good, honest, hardworking, moral people. Who could not gain from that?
The Healing Jar is third in the trilogy of the Prayer Jar books. It is also the first of the three I have read. I enjoyed the book from the very beginning and it could easily be read as a stand-alone. Instead, for me, it has only made me that much more anxious to go back and read the others, immediately.
This story centers on an Amish family, some close knit, some extended, some not even blood related, and all the trials they face in everyday life. These characters are real. They are just like us and have emotions, as do we. They hope, they struggle, they lose, they make errors in judgement, they ask for forgiveness, as well as give it. They triumph, they love, they treasure those around them, and put all of their faith in God. I am always touched by the depth of emotion that Wanda is able to give to her characters. You want to meet them, support them, talk with them, console them, and especially share their joy.
The overall theme in this story is healing, and the process in which one must go through dealing with hurt, grief, death, mistrust, and fear, to eventually reconcile and love again. We see relationships between parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, cousins, siblings, and friends. The one common link in all of these interactions is that all the characters are able to wholeheartedly and unconditionally give trust to God, knowing that he will ultimately always guide and protect. And, the part I like best, is that this includes all characters, not just the Amish, but people of all walks of life. What an amazing and exhilarating feeling to be bestowed upon. It is my hope that all readers take the opportunity to read this and other Amish books. I think there is something valuable that every reader can take away, Amish or not.

The Healing Jar it the third installment of the Prayer Jar series. I love Wanda Brubstetter's books, especially the ones that tell the tales in a series. This series should really be read in order. The Healing Jar does a great job of wrapping up the series and giving us the answers we have been waiting for. I am thankful for Ms Brunstetter and the books she writes, they provide clean, christian entertainment for us.

. Amish schoolteacher Lenore Lapp learns this when she lets her fiancé walk away and again when she finds a note buried in an old jar that was written by an unwed mother who made a difficult decision. I really enjoyed this book as Wanda Brunstetter is one of my favorite authors.
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to offer a review for this book.

As part of a reading challenge for a book outside of my comfort zone, I decided to read an Amish novel. I selected The Forgiving Jar (book 2 in the series). When I saw book 3 available - The Healing Jar - I immediately requested it. Unlike book 2, I wanted to read this one. It was interesting to read the lives of characters introduced to me in the first book I read.
The Healing Jar deals with the importance of family when dealing with loss, heartache through love and help when in need. As the title suggests, an important factor is the prayer jars. The prayer jars, hidden through the years, contains prayers, words of encouragement and bible verses. These help the characters to trust more in God and encourages them in their time of sorrow. It helps them find the answers they are sorely searching for.
Well written.

In the last instalment in The Prayer Jar series, we encounter Lenore Lapp, Willis and MaryRuth Lapp's grand-daughter. She is glad that fiends, Sarah and Michelle have both settled down but wonders when she will meet her soulmate. Unknowingly, for her friends, the fairytale does not continue after they say "I do" as they come to terms with married life. The three girls remain connected with the mysterious jars with notes filled with hope and encouragement in their time.
As the series concludes, we see the trajectory of the repercussions of one's actions that extend longer than expected and how families are left to deal with them.
The Healing Jar is a great read for the girl who is "always the bridesmaids but never the bride" and needs some encouragement.

The Healing Jar is the third book of a three book series. It's a good book, but best if you have read the other two stories,The Forgiving Jar, and The Hope Jar. In this book, the author of the papers in each jar is revealed, and another third jar is found. It's a great story, but if you haven't read the first books, it may not make much sense. I enjoyed reading it, and it wraps up the story very nicely. Good read.

Loved this book by Wanda Brunstetter. Book 3 in the series of The Prayer Jars was excellent. Lenore Lapp feels she has pretty much missed the marriageable time of her life when widower Jesse and sweet daughter Cindy appear in town.
I love the characters in this story and as Lenore tends for Jesse's daughter, they become friends as she learns to love the sweet little one in her care. During this time Lenore finds the jar filled with scriptures, thoughts and feelings which were placed by someone long ago. Who wrote these? No one seems to know.
This story has some interesting twists and turns. You will enjoy it especially if you have read The previous books and followed the family through each.
Very nice story. Great author.
I received an ebook copy from NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

THE HEALING JAR. Wanda Brunsetter
Lenore is wondering when love will come for her, with two of her friends now married. At her grandparents home, still loved being there, now seeing that they were in need of love and assurance, unable to tend to the farm. She took a new teaching position this year, close by. In the barn, on a shelf, she noticed a canning jar that had papers inside. Michelle came in, and notice that Lenore had found her jar, It was when she was living there and pretending to be Sara, she wrote them. Sara knew about them also, and there were more jars with notes in them. They never asked about them to the grandmother for some were personal. Mishap outside the school yard and Lenore falls into an old well. Jesse happen to come by and noticed the children. He probably saved her life, and realized the love for her. A second chance at love if she would forgive him for what he had said before. Beautiful story and series of a love for the older, and the new love that comes in God’s time. Given an ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and Barbour .

Hope, Forgive, and Heal.....the 3 parts of one process. This series by Wanda Brunstetter is just what we need to concentrate on, in our Christian life. This book, the 3rd in the series, takes on the process of healing. How healing can be the balm for the soul and that it comes in different ways, different times using different approaches. The person/couple/community must come to healing through their own walk and this novel gives us all hope for healing our wounds. I thoroughly enjoyed the two previous novels and this one was not a disappointment. I read it, trying to bring it's purpose into my life and see the different ways to heal the burdens of life, in our world, today. Please take the time to read this series and to use what your receive as direction through the journey of this books couples, communities and people....you will truly enjoy it!!

This is a very well written book that will keep you turning the pages. It is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. The author did an excellent job of making the book come to life. You can feel all of the emotions of the people in the book, happiness, sadness and every emotion in between. I enjoyed every minute of this book and loved the recipe at the end. Thank you Barbour Publishing Shiloh Run Press via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Closing out this series, the Healing Jar took me a little longer to get into than its predecessors. I do understand that part of this is due to the author wanted to set up the backstory for anyone who may have skipped the first two (though they'd really be missing a lot!). The relationship between the main characters seems a bit contrived, but there are still marriages of convenience all over the world today, so maybe it's not that far-fetched. At some points, one day spans several chapters, while at other points we span several months in a chapter...making the timeline seem a little cattywampus. (You just have to pay attention.) Overall, however, I give it four stars for the sentiment and the way that it closes out this series nicely.
