Pig wants to kiss Giraffe, but Giraffe is too tall. Pigs digs a hole and it's not deep enough. Then he tries to get higher by swinging on a swing and falls. Giraffe bends down to help Pig....wait this allows them to kiss. Oh wait, should I have said spoiler alert? This was the whole book. I would honestly just pass on this one.

This was such a cute Children’s book. I read it with my kids and they loved it. I loved the problem solving skills that were being tested by Piggy. And the illustrations?! So cute! This is one that is definitely going to be added to our rotation.

Thank you to the publisher, the author and Netgalley for my copy in return for an honest review!

I downloaded this book for a special little boy in my church and he enjoyed it. Anything that keeps him smiling and engaged which this book appeared to do is good stuff to me.

As someone how has been really, really short their whole life (I peeked in Grade 8 at 5'1" and never grew again; well except to get rounder) I loved this book! It's all about how the pig wants to give his friend the giraffe a kiss but can't reach his face/mouth.
So the pig tries all kinds of things including: ladders, digging holes for giraffe to stand in, etc. and yet nothing seems to work. Until suddenly giraffe leans down to acknowledge pig and they realize that it was because the wrong person was trying to accommodate when it would have been easier the other way around!
This is a simple, short little children's story with gorgeous and colourful illustrations that doesn't have a larger meaning until you really think about it. I like this as it means kids are subconsciously learning (we hope) that sometimes the other person needs to help out too. Compromise or accommodation from both sides is always good.
I'd say this is the perfect book for one of many bedtime stories you may have to read a child in just one night. And even better for those moments when a child wants a story read to them in the middle of the day by someone other than Mom or Dad. It's quick, easy and no context or thought is really needed unless you really want to add symbolism.
A Kiss for Giraffe is also a great book for kids to try reading from themselves as it has large print and fairly simple language used.

Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.

AHHHH. I love a good short story like this one. All Piggy wants is to give Giraffe a kiss. But Giraffe is very tall and Piggy is very short. Piggy is determined. He will find something to help him share his love. This is perfect and so are the illustrations.

Pig and Giraffe are best friends and Pig wants to give Giraffe a kiss. Pig thinks of many different ways to try and kiss Giraffe, but most of them don't work. The ending was tied it all together nicely. This is a great story to read to a baby as it has bright colors and a simple message - keep trying!!!

Loved it! My grand kids ages 4 & 6 also. Sometimes you have to think outside the box. It was good to talk to the children between pages.

'A Kiss for Giraffe' by Judith Koppens with illustrations by Suzanne Diederen is a picture book about a friendship where one friend tends to overthink the solutions to problems.

Piggy and Giraffe are best of friends. Piggy wants Giraffe to know this by giving Giraffe a kiss. The problem is that Giraffe is very tall and Piggy is not. Piggy tries a few solutions including trying to dig a hole so that Giraffe is closer to the ground. The ultimate solution becomes obvious when Piggy is in trouble.

I really liked this story about friendship. The illustrations are really cute too. This would be a fun story to read to toddlers.

This book so so darling! It reminds me of my nephews and how much taller I am than them and how in order to give them a bear hug, I have to lift them up in my arms. The giraffe and pig try to find a way to reach each other's level of height to share a kiss of friendship. So cute!

This is a sweet little story about friendship and problem solving as Piggy and Giraffe try a few different options for sharing a kiss despite their height difference. The illustrations are also fun and colorful. Would recommend for ages 2-4.

This sweet hardcover book is perfect for the age group targeted ( 30 months+ ). Piggy loves his friend giraffe so much and wants to show him his affection by planting a huge kiss on him. But he has one problem. He can't reach his friend's face to do so because giraffe is so tall. Oh my how can he accomplish his mission of love?

He tries several methods to achieve his goal : digging a hole and asking giraffe to sit in it, swinging from a rope tied to a tree, donning his runners and leaping up as high as he can and last but not least, positioning a long ladder against his friend and trying to climb up to deliver his smacker up close and personal. Do any of his methods work? Nope! Fail!

But the kiss does happen... I wonder how it came about? Mmmmmm???

Piggy wants to kiss Giraffe but Giraffe is too tall. Piggy tries several ways to reach Giraffe but one of them work. After Piggy falls off the ladder to the ground. Giraffe bends down to see if Piggy is alright. Piggy’s problem is solved.

This book contains cute illustrations with greenish, watercolor backgrounds. The animals are tightly drawn characters in pink and yellow. This combines to give the page an uplifting and fun feeling.

The story is a good one to teach children about problem-solving. Piggy tried to solve the issue by himself without input from Giraffe. When Giraffe acted, Piggy was able to kiss him.

Similar to the author/illustrator’s other book, Little Bear Wants to Grow, a great lesson opportunity is presented in a fun way.

A kiss for giraffe is funny and cute story about piggy who wishes to give it's friend, giraffe, a kiss. It tries different ways only to realize that there's a more simpler way that it hadn't thought before. Kids will enjoy it for sure.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review A Kiss For a Giraffe.. A very sweet read for preschoolers and emerging readers. A loving friendship between two unlikely friends just trying to solve a simple problem. Giraffes might not be the smartest animals, but loves showing affection to their friends.

A sweet, endearing story of two friends who try to work out how to reach each other for a kiss despite the major height difference. Piggy comes up with some good ideas but they don’t work out until the end when a simple solution presents itself. Hopefully kids will be engaged enough to come up with a solution too. At the very least it’s the perfect book to read right before bedtime.

Cute little baby book, not really the best story logic but still cute for little ones. The pictures are adorable though.

This is the first book by Judith Koppens that I have read. We enjoyed it. My little one loved the story. He laughed at the pig’s actions. I will purchase more of her books.
