The Friend Zone was a quirky and fun but sometimes heartbreaking book. I really like a book that gives you a wide range of emotions. Thanks to the Publisher and to Netgalley for the preview.
The book has well developed characters and the story flows well. I would highly recommend this book.

“The Friend Zone” by Abby Jimenez.

This is a review of an the extended preview version of the book (5 Chapters).

I am intrigued and will most likely make an official purchase of the book to finish the book (just saying).

From what I’ve read I like both main characters, and can see that their budding friendship could turn into a romance. Judging by the title, it’s unlikely the latter. However maybe I will remain blissfully unaware and believe there will be a romance - with stolen kisses, holding hands, fluffy moments etc.

They are comfortable around each other and both hold an attraction for the other which just bubbles below the surface.

Looking forward to completing this book.

Star rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ and 1/2

There were some really cute, funny moments in this book, but I hated how the infertility issue was addressed in this book. I also hated the storyline with the bffs. Both of those characters were really done wrong at the expense of the drama between the main characters.

This one had a lot of hype surrounding it and I was so excited to read it! Im not sure what I was expecting but it was a lot heavier then I thought it wiould be. It went very deep, not the typical rom com I had been expecting. It dealt with a very important women's issue that I feel typically is dealt with behind closed doors, i think the author did this gracefully and with much consideration on the topic. Such a cute, funny read also

Abby Jimenez is a new favorite author! I loved this book so much that I bought it so I could finish if that tells you anything,

The Friend Zone is about Kristen, the main character who is engaged to a Marine and trying to navigate a transition from long distance relationship to living together. Then she meets Josh, recently moved from South Dakota to LA and a handsome firefighter. Kristen and Josh start spending time together for a business purpose but become fast friends who both secretly like each other. This all changes when Tyler, the Marine fiance, calls to break up with Kristen by re-enlisting.

This is a fast, easy, rom-com read and does not disappoint! Go pick up your copy before JImenez's next book comes out.

As always, many thanks to Netgalley, Grand Central Publishing and Abby Jimenez for this extended preview.

I was hesitant to read this book in the beginning due to it being a debut author. I'm glad I changed my mind. This book was beyond fantastic. I read it in a day and didn't want the story to end. Thankfully there is a sequel in the future

I read this wonderful preview a few days ago and had to instantly get the full thing from the library. Thankfully, they had it as an ebook so I downloaded it right the and finished the book.
It was THAT good!
The relationships the characters had with each other, themselves, and those around them were written so well that you could almost feel Iike you were right there with them.
The main characters, Kristen and Josh, go through a lot. From break ups to tragedy. But through it all you can see how perfect they are for each other. Their surprised feelings only help the reader see that even more!
Such a cute, fun, and real book! Definitely pick it up as your next romcom!

This book truly spoke to my soul. The characters reminded me of people I know (and myself...) and I loved the interactions between them. It was so genuine and real. I found myself falling in love with Josh just as Kristen did - that's how pulled in I was! I've read many rom-com type books recently and none spoke to me like The Friend Zone did.
Pros about this book; it was not all love-y dove-y. There were real issues that aren't usually brought up in romance novels (Kristen's surgery). This wasn't a "love at first sight" unrealistic romance novel. You truly felt drawn to the characters, their struggles, and their relationships.
Cons about this book; It wasn't long enough. I need a sequel (or 2).

This is one of my favorite contemporaries! I loved it so much. The characters were amazing and it left me on the edge of my seat throughout certain scenes.

When downloading this I did not realize it was a preview, my fault I know. While yes I enjoyed this first couple of chapters of this, it only made me upset to realize it was a preview. I did go out and buy the book but let’s just say I still haven’t started it back.

Easily one of my favorite reads of 2019! The Friend Zone is relatable, humorous, swoon-worthy, and heartbreaking all in one book. I loved the chemistry that Josh and Kristen had throughout the book. There are some things that might be triggering for some to read or too idealistic, but the overall story line is phenomenal.

I don't normally grab previews from Netgalley. I don't like reviewing things before having finished them fully. But I had just heard about this book earlier on the When in Romance podcast and needed to get my hands on it. From these few chapters I feel I'm really going to enjoy the whole book. I already like the characters, the writing style, and Kristen's situation makes me really want to know how this will all play out. I think it's going to stand out for me as a more unique storyline in my romance reading.

(Since reading this preview, I've bought and read the full book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll link my full review below.)

Again, I was lucky enough to receive an extended preview for The Friend Zone. Compared to the last few years, today's romance novels are receiving more simplistic, but appealing designs, and this is no exception. While this was an extended preview and not the final draft, the formatting was slightly annoying to read, line spacing just far enough out that it pulled slightly from the flow, along with a few errors in italicization, but I'm sure these will be cleaned up for the publication.

Written back and forth between our hero and heroine in first person, as many romance novels do nowadays, the novel does draw you in and does provide an interesting read. Our heroine does seem a little rough around the ages, with some interesting comments. Sometimes our heroine's don't need to be rough to be tough, but every woman is unique and different, and kudos to all for different portrayals. Chemistry between our leads is already underway, with our hero already proving his moral strength.

The extended preview does set the book up nicely, with a few big items already underway - a rival for affections, fertility issues, a car accident - and I'm intrigued to see how these progress.

This book is like light fluff cotton candy delight. I like that it does have real-life medical issues baked in, especially one that thousands of women struggle with -- it good to talk about these things!

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant going into this but it turned out better than I thought it would be! I really liked the writing style and look forward to reading more of Abby's work in the future.
