I love second chance romances! And this had it all, the sad difficult childhood where sam and lucy initially bond and find love. The inevitable parting. There is alot of angst in this story. And most of it is from Lucy not being able to choose whether to go with her current life or give the first boy she ever loved, another chance. I loved Sam I thought he was a wonderful character. So caring, he has always looked after Lucy from when they were very young. There was an added element of angst as the guy in her present was also a lovely guy. And it was hard to see him hurt. (I hope he gets his own book!) I cant wait to see how book two will go as this ended in a cliff hanger.

This novel was my first Robin Huber book and I am very excited to read the second installment in the Love Story Duet. This book hit me in all the feels and this has been my fastest read that I can remember.

This story is all about two lovers, Lucy and Sam, who had an extremely heartbreaking and complicated past. They lost parents due to drug use, they lived through the foster system, they battled life with each other, for each other. Then one painful day it all came to an end. They were separated and they went two different directions. While Sam was incarcerated, Lucy didn't know how to survive without him so she did what she knew best, she ran. She started a new life, even though she always imagined a life with Sam.

After three years of prison, Sam became a professional boxer and started bombarding Lucy's life on her television screen. Lucy is engaged, with a wonderful fiance, beautiful home and her own art studio that she has worked incredibly hard for. What she didn't expect was that her assistant was going to offer her ring side tickets to a boxing match in NYC to Sam's fight.

This book goes through the motion of Lucy trying to navigate her love for both Sam and her fiance Drew. She wants to keep the comfortable, simple life that she currently lives with Drew but she can't mentally and physically live the life without Sam. Not after everything they have went through.

This book had my heart pounding, it had me pleading and it had me in tears. This was a fantastic love story of two people finding their way back to each other. As I was nearing towards the end of the book I was beginning to start a book hangover because I loved these two characters so much. The ending left me breathless, I did not expect the event that happened but I'm so glad that I get to continue reading Lucy and Sam's story in A Story Like Ours.

I had very mixed feelings about this series. For the most part, I was disappointed, the H/h came off as very immature to me. Not my jam.

The writing style of this absolutely works, but it feels a bit too simple overall. There isn't really much backstory shared that would do more than just establish a connection between Lucy and Sam. Which makes their romance feel less second-chance and more instalove. And the fact that Lucy is ENGAGED but messing around with Sam is just not okay with me. Especially because she basically starts doing it immediately upon reconnecting with Sam.

I really wanted to love this, but I just couldn't get past that.

Honestly, I had some issues with A Love Like Yours on a few points that made not love it like I thought I would. Don’t get me wrong, it was entertaining and a fast read, but there were just things in it that I didn’t love, Lucy being one of them. I loved Sam and how much he loved Lucy, but she just couldn’t seem to make up her mind and had such little empathy for his feelings and faith in him that it annoyed me a lot more than I wanted it to. I also found Sebastian to be a little too much most of the time. And don’t even get me started on Drew and his mother. They were taking advantage of Lucy and she was letting them and that really bothered me. Plus there was some really bad advice given. I know it sounds like I hated this book, but it didn’t. I struggled with it and that is on me. I recommend not taking my word for it and trying it yourself.

Be warned, this is book1 of 2. This is an emotional roller coaster of a tale of Same Cole met Lucy Bennett and their not so great childhood in a foster home,

Do yourself a favor and read book one and two together!

This was one of those books, that you can't help but bring into your own life. When I was reading this book, I was sad, or happy, I was feeling whatever was happening. Whether I was reading or not. And without giving too much away, the ending was one of those endings where you either feel as though the author thought they needed hook to keep the audience invested, or they wanted to show you the story wasn't ending. And.. the story is not ending. I instantly googled where I could buy a copy of the next book "A Story Like Ours.." and still didn't even bother waiting to go purchase a physical copy. I bought the kindle version, because I NEED TO KNOW.

This story was written as dual first person narrative, where characters are described directly. There is a mixture of conflict as characters battle themselves, other characters and society. The major themes shown are love, survival, prejudice, good versus evil, power and corruption and individual versus society.

Lucy Bennett is a young up and coming artist, who grew up in the foster care systems because of her mother’s use of drugs. She currently works in her own art gallery, that was a gift from her wealthy fiancé, but she is currently struggling to stay true to herself. Janice and Andrew ‘Drew’ Chistiansen are Lucy’s future mother-in-law and husband and occasionally come off snobby. Drew is a restaurant owner and chef, currently working on opening another restaurant. Sebastian is Lucy’s assistant and her confidant alongside his husband Paul. Sam Cole is a professional fighter who grew up in the same foster home as Lucy. He has spent time in prison for drugs but still uses the same team that helped him train as a teenager. Sam and Lucy were introduced as children as they grew up in the same foster family. The drifted apart after Sam was arrested for selling drugs, which broke Lucy’s heart as they both promised to never get involved with them. Lucy went on to work as a waitress for Drew’s restaurant where his mother Janice, took her under her wing and taught her about the art scene and began to introduce her to the right people. Lucy is all set to marry Drew, even though Janice has taken over planning the wedding, but when she goes with Paul and Sebastian to see Sam fight, things begin to change. When Sam gets knocked down, he and Lucy share a look that reignites their teenage romance. But has too much come between them besides the time element?

The ideas are interesting and unique to where the main characters career choices are. The flow is organized and logical even as the point of view jumps between Lucy and Sam. Each character’s voice is individualized but works in harmony. The sentence structure and word choice help to enhance the reader’s ease of reading. Yes, I would recommend this book. It would be a good read for those interested in second chances, honoring your past but now dwelling on it, rekindling love, and overcoming your original social status. This would not be a good book for those who dislike cliffhangers, minor cheating, physical fighting, or judging based on socio-economic status as a child.

Robin is such a fantastic writer. I loved this book tremendously. The writing was on point and the characters are so likeable. This was a sweet and emotional rollercoaster of feelings book. I'm so glad I got the chance to read this.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Second chance angsty romance? SIGN ME UP!

Robin Huber is definitely a voice to watch for me. I devoured A Love Like Yours in just hours and immediately ran to Amazon to buy book two in the Love Story series.

Growing up in the foster care system in a very rough neighborhood, Lucy and Sam only had each other to rely on and the love they felt for each other created a bond that would cement them for life, until, something unthinkable happens and they are separated for years. Flash forward a few years and Sam is a world champion boxer and Lucy has an art gallery and a fiance. But this wouldn't be a second chance romance if that's where it ended. Full of heart and tough decisions, we wonder if Lucy and Sam can find their way back to one another or if childhood love is better left behind.

Thank you to Forever for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

This was actually pretty impressive for an author's first novel : the writing hooked me from the from beginning. The characters themselves were well thought out in my opinion, and the trope itself is something that I love.

The only thing that sometimes bothered me about this book was the plot itself; I really did like how Sam waited to go after Lacy, but overall I enjoyed most of it and I'm excited to see what will happen in the next book!

I really enjoyed A Love Like Yours by Robin Huber. This was the first time reading this authors work and I loved it. I am sucker when it comes to second chance romance.

Lucy and Sam met when they were teenagers and been friends ever since. They had the best relationship and were so in love. That all changed one day when something happened.

Years later and they are seeing each other for the first time. Lucy owns an art gallery and is engaged. Sam is a professional boxer. After all these years the pull between these two is still there.

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to more books from this author.

Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes. This book did not disappoint at all. Thank goodness I have book two ready to go because I don't think I could've stood the wait. Fantastic story!

This is my first read by Robin and I really enjoyed it. If you love second chance romances that will give you the feels then you will love this. Childhood sweethearts who have gone through hell and back finding their way back to one another...yes please! Told from dual POV's and past to the present showing us what they were like growing up and what led to them splitting. I will say for those of you who are not a fan of cheating, this does have a bit of cheating(kissing)

Lucy and Sam were childhood sweethearts who are torn apart when they were teens. Fast forward a few years later and they both live separate lives and haven't seen one another. They both have had one another on their minds, but its too hard to deal with, so they sweep their feelings under the rug.
Until one moment that changes everything.

I loved them together and I loved Sam by himself. Lucy got on my nerves a bit because she was so blah about certain things. But overall I really enjoyed their story.

Sebastian was my favorite. He's so out there and was tell it like it is. I adored him.

The ending is a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to check out the next one. Robin tells a emotional and entertaining read that will suck you. I look forward to more from her.

DNF Review by Mary Jo

Mary Jo - ☆☆☆
The book was hard to get into. I found myself picking it up and putting it down several times. The characters didn't hold my interest nor did the storyline.

NOTE: This review was not posted to our blog, Goodreads, or any retailers as the reviewer was unable to finish the book.

A LOVE LIKE YOURS is going to rip apart your emotions and hand them back to you, a bit bruised, a bit wiser but healed – eventually.

Sam and Lucy have had rough lives and one event changed everything for them. Now years later, they might have a second chance except that Lucy is engaged and making the choice of her heart isn’t going to be an easy one for Lucy.

There might be some annoyance triggers for some readers, for others they might be more. In many ways, there is a love triangle between Sam, Lucy, and Drew that is understandable for a while but for those who consider a kiss as cheating then there’s that. Also, there is a cliffhanger-ish ending, and that is a real trigger for me. Some would consider the ending the lead into the next story, and it is, but the cliffhanger feel was very strong for me. It didn’t take away from my enjoyment of Lucy and Sam eventually finding each other again considering this is a duet styled story, but I always think a series can be done (even if it’s short) by ending one story and then picking up on the next. I’m not a writer, I don’t pretend to be – but as a reader, I know what I’m comfortable with and cliffhangers are not comfortable at all.

We will go between Sam’s and Lucy’s POV, and a bit of moving between history to their present as well. There is a lot that I enjoyed about A LOVE LIKE YOURS and some things that I got over myself about because the connection between Lucy and Sam was so strong and so very real. A STORY LIKE OURS comes out in June so there isn’t a long wait to continue this duet. Overall, I enjoyed this debut story by Robin Huber and I’ll continue the journey.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

4 1/2 stars!

Lucy and Sam met in the foster care system. They grew up in a very rough area and Sam had always worried that she would be victimized because he thought she was too trusting. He always protected her even if it meant getting into fights to do so. Initially, they were friends but it grew to love and they were each other's firsts. Sam refers to her as his "Day One."

A situation occurs and Lucy and Sam are separated. Lucy doesn't believe it when Sam tells her his side of the story and they are apart for years. She goes to college and has opened an art gallery with the help of her fiancée (which is not Sam) and he has gone on to be an extremely successful professional boxer as he is the currently title holder for his division.

They reconnect but will Lucy let go of her safe and secure life with Drew for Sam and his life of fame and chaos? This was such a good book and I absolutely enjoyed every bit of Lucy and Sam's journey!

(Note that this is part one of a duet and it ends in a bit of a cliffy but the second book is only a few weeks away from releasing.)
