Prom-wrecked an adorable sweet read. Its a YA romance with dual POV of ex-bffs. It starts off in an unlikely place which captured my interest from the page one.

Riley is basically trying to save prom from being completely cancelled. She's passionate but still self-conscious. During school she's been apart of school activities but never has been the one to be leader. She's also crushing on Owen.

Catherine is the popular cheerleader. The one destined to be the future prom queen. She's also Owen's girlfriend. But has seemingly been having sparks with Jordan. Doesn't really have that great of a relationship with her controlling mother.

Owen is the popular baseball player. He's Catherine's boyfriend. Is also helping out Riley in trying to save prom.

Jordan is a drama nerd. Who has been having some sparks with Catherine

These characters will have to overcome obstacles, figure out what they want for their futures, and learn how to stand up for one self. Will they be able to save prom? Or will it all get to be to much?

All in all this book was a quick read. Definitely a sweet read. A rollercoaster ride and page turner.

Prom-Wrecked by T.H. Hernandez is a young adult contemporary romance that really puts Murphy’s Law to the test, prom style. The story is told from different points of view of Riley and Catherine as they try to save prom night.

The book actually begins with a brief glimpse of the teens in jail after prom before taking readers back through the months leading up to the big event. You would think the worse for these teens is when they learn prom is going to be canceled but oh no, things only go downhill from there.

The first thing I would warn potential readers of is the fact the relationships in here form a bit of a love square. It’s not as bad as it may sound really though in the fact you quickly learn Catherine and Owen are in a relationship of convenience and comfort and completely not in love, only friends. This leads to both eventually seeing those around them.

Overall, I found this one really cute and often quite humorous along the way. One disaster after another plagues the teens as they simply try to have that one memorable night before parting ways for college. It was nice to watch them grow as people to as they dealt with one another and faced the problems along the way. Great light-hearted read.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

It's just a basic senior prom. Or is it?
The struggles to get this prom off the ground is completely mesmerizing. If it could go wrong, it did. There is also a mystery element to this as well.

Very enjoyable , easy, quick read. If you like young adult, this book is for you. This books is also told from 2 different points of view which also makes it interesting.

I received this book for review purposes.

Event after event of chaos!
Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for the opportunity to read and review Prom-Wrecked by T. H. Hernandez and Jennifer DiGiovanni!
The opening, showing the ragged and imprisoned state of the teen prom attendees, made me curious and the book didn’t let me down. The group of prom planners and prom goers dealt with a mountain of tumultuous events before the prom ever started and then prom was eventful with completely different issues. The characters are realistic, overwhelmed and anxious, just like real teenagers. Drama, of course takes a part in this story but so does maturity, loyalty and perseverance. Riley, Catherine and Owen are the three main characters, each with distinct personalities and Owen is in the middle of all the action. Fun and with a message of prevailing justice makes Prom-Wrecked an interesting read, 5 stars!

I feel so bad to be DNFing this book, but I realize that a bad/unfavorable review is still honest and needs to be known.

Prom-Wrecked is a story of Riley, a girl who is fairly unpopular but decides to plan her high school’s prom after the principal cancels it for lack of interest. She’s harboring a secret crush on Owen, the cutest, more popular boy in the school who is dating her ex-BFF Catherine.

I got about 25% in on this one before I decided to stop. The story is moving exceptionally slowly and (in my opinion) has a lot of “day to day activity” fluff that could be cut out. The author tries to jump through time by giving the chapters different times (one month before prom, six weeks before prom, etc.) but it feels so much like a daily update that the time movements are not believable.

Hello and welcome to my review of Prom-Wrecked! I originally picked up this book because of the super intriguing premise. I mean it’s about a prom that lands the senior class in jail! If that’s not intriguing I don’t know what is!

As I said, I wanted to read this book because of all the fun drama that the synopsis promised me, but I’m starting to learn that maybe I don’t actually enjoy dramatics in books. I think my issue mainly stems from the fact that there was nothing in the book that didn’t cause drama! Literally EVERYTHING that could go wrong with prom, managed to go wrong! I was expected a lot to go wrong from the synopsis, but I figured there’d be some positive points as well? And maybe if I strained my eyes a bit I could find the bits and pieces that went right, but it would take me a lot of effort. I also didn’t feel like there was the greatest resolution to the whole prom fiasco, and so the ending was a bit anticlimactic after everything that went wrong throughout the book.

BUT! While I didn’t really enjoy the plot, I did have a pretty good time with the characters. The book is dual perspective and you get to see Riley who is doing her best to ensure prom will happen, and Catherine, Riley’s ex best friend, who wants prom to happen so that she could become prom queen like her mother expects her too. Even though I couldn’t always distinguish between the two voices, I appreciated that the characters didn’t follow the tropes I expected. For example, I also expected that there was going to be quite a bit of miscommunication since the romantic entanglements are quite complicated, but to my delighted surprise, there wasn’t any!

Additionally, while Catherine is the popular girl who ended her friendship with Riley in a less than stellar fashion years back, she isn’t a villain. She knows what mistakes she made, feels bad about them, and does her best to make up for her past actions. I did feel that the side characters weren’t as fleshed out as I’d have liked them to be, but it didn’t bother me too much since I enjoyed both of the main characters perspectives.

This isn’t a super complex book, but if you’re in the mood for a cute book with the biggest case of Murphy’s law ever, this is definitely the read for you!

So, straight up - I wasn't sure if I liked this novel at first, and it took me a little while to get into this book - but oh boy did I get into it. This was one of those novels that kept me reading and reading and reading (once I got into it).
Overall:
This is a lovely, cute and light story, told from several perspectives centring on, you guessed it, prom. The story arguably centres on Riley and Owen, with a little side story involving Catherine. It was probably everything I love in a story - short, sweet, and genuine. The writing is also short, sharp and sweet, although it could be improved in some areas.
Characters:
To be frank, I really did enjoy reading both from Riley's perspective as well as Catherine. They were both enjoyable, smart (if different), and just great heroines to read along withI really did enjoy reading about both Owen and nerdy-sweet Jordon, although they weren't characters that I melted into a pool at. I did love the dynamic between Catherine and Jordon, of that they were always fully open with one another. Riley and Owen were nice to read alongside, but would have loved if they could turn up the sparks a little more. If there was one critique I had, it would be that at first, I found it quite hard to keep track of all the different characters and perspectives.
Storyline:
At first, like I said, it took me a little while to get into the story, but once I got to maybe 1/3 of the way through, I began to truly get into it. But moving past that, it was pretty well paced (maybe slightly too slow towards the beginning). I would have liked for Riley and Catherine's storyline in terms of their past to be developed a little further (and that ending tied up a little neater) though.

Overall, I did enjoy this novel - really enjoyable once you get into it!
Note: I was generously provided an ARC of this novel by the publisher and author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Prom-Wrecked is the ultimate story of organising Morp. That’s Prom spelt backwards.

The organiser of Prom has missed the mark when it comes to fundraising. Riley, with the push of her friend decides to take over the event. An unlikely team are put together to save the day.

What I like about this story is that it’s told from two girls point of views rather than the love interests POV. Catherine and Riley have a history. Now all the signs are there for Riley being interesting in Catherine’s boyfriend. The problem is Catherine isn’t being completely honest with herself.

The title fits well with the Story and this is going to be one messy ride. 4 stars out of 5. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Prom-Wrecked by T. H. Hernandez and Jennifer Giovanni is a fun young adult romance. This is a story about a high school, when no students show any interest in planning the prom, so the principal threaten to cancel. Riley decides to take the planning on, but nothing goes smoothly. I enjoyed this fun book and recommend it to anyone who like a sweet young adult romance.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC. Thank you.

Cute read. Riley and Catherine's damaged relationship is a good example of peer pressure. They both face the pressures of needing everything to be perfect. Riley's is the prom and Catherine's is the expectations of her mother. Owen is stuck in the middle trying to be the perfect friend and boyfriend. Some parts were very funny to picture happening. Perfect light summer read for by the pool.

This book was an adventure. I don't think that I've ever said that about a contemporary book before, but it truly fits this book. This book is about a bunch of seniors trying to save their prom. They navigate through mishaps, catastrophes, and triumphs trying to get their prom planned. All the while characters are learning how to use their voice to stand up for themselves, atoning for past mistakes, letting go of things that are holding them down, and going after what they want most both in matters of the heart and otherwise.

T.H. Hernandez and Jennifer DiGiovanni's combined efforts create a writing style that really works. This story was crafted beautifully and flowed marvelously. The powerful storytelling was evident in the descriptions that brought everything to life and the characters that warmed your heart.

The story is told through the POV of Riley and Catherine, two ex-friends that want to save their prom for completely different reasons. The POVs were chosen well for this story. We really get a sense for their character motivations and the character development progressed well for both of them. Riley fades into the background at school after Catherine kicks her to the curb in middle school. She has a few friends but is ready to get high school over with. Catherine has been living the life her mother set out for her and she never puts her foot down about her own hopes and dreams. And then there are Owen and Jordon. Owen has been Catherine's boyfriend since their parents got them together freshman year. They are the best of friends but the romantic part of their relationship soured long ago. They are clinging to their relationship because it is easy. Jordon was a little less developed than the other three main characters but I enjoyed his character nonetheless. He was a drama geek and he boldly embraced it. The side characters were delightful as well. I liked Riley's friends, Desmond and Jane, as well as Catherine's friend, Hunter. I felt that Jane was a little too MIA for a friend, but whatever.

I liked that there were parents present in this story. Riley and Catherine's parents were involved and caring. It even touched upon Catherine's issues with her mother's controlling ways. We even get to see Owen's mother a few times. It was refreshing to see loving families included in the story.

I liked the plot of the story as a whole, but I felt like everything revolved around making preparations for prom. It felt unrealistic that we didn't get to experience much of anything else with these characters other than a few parties briefly. A ton of things happen at the end of senior year in high school but we didn't get to see them. Riley and Catherine were even both involved in tons of school clubs and the like but everything was just about the prom preparations. Apart from that, I felt that everything else was plotted out well. The story flowed great and things happened when it felt like they should within the story.

This paragraph contains SPOILERS so proceed with caution!! I liked the slow-burn romance in this one but it did leave me wanting more. Since Catherine and Owen are a couple through most of the book, Riley and Owen don't even kiss until the end of the story. And the same with Catherine and Jordon. They don't kiss until the end of the book either for the same reason. It kind of left me feeling unsatisfied. The slow-burn part where the feelings were building was great, but I wish that the characters could have gotten together sooner in the story.

Overall, this was an extremely fun story that I couldn't put down. It is filled with humor, catastrophe, rekindling friendships, and blossoming relationships. This book is a delightful journey that I highly recommend.

The prom will not be held this year, Riley discovers it through rumors reported to her by Owen and Desmond. The latter is pushing her a little to take charge of things. So here she is, embarked on the Morp operation (prom backwards). But here it is, fate is against her and all kinds of adventures will happen to her.
I love Riley, she's an overactive girl who is involved in many clubs but never as president and so she will learn to make decisions. She's been a loner since her ex-best friend Catherine let her down. She plays an online video game with Owen, Catherine's boyfriend but she is also his friend since kindergarten.
Besides, let's talk about Owen, he's adorable, tender and never says one word higher than the other. He pays attention to what others think so as not to hurt them. He's really a nice guy, I like him a lot and so does Riley.
Prom-Wrecked is told from two perspectives, Riley's and Catherine's. We can see the difference between the two girls even if she is similar in some respects.
Catherine is a little forced by Owen to join the prom committee, she has to look for sponsors but at the same time her family life is getting more complicated and she also has to take into account her own desires.
As I said earlier, a lot of things are happening and frankly I had a great time with all these characters. I laughed, shed a little tear and was happy too. For once there is no betrayal in a story.
Quick Word: If you want to have a good time, don't hesitate to read Prom-Wrecked.

Their prom night ended in a jail cell with forty of their closest friends. But that’s hardly the worst thing that happened to them…

When the principal announces prom is canceled this year, senior Riley Hart is determined to save it. Armed with little more than her own enthusiasm, she ends up working closely with Owen Locklear, who is more than completely off-limits. Because he’s the boyfriend of her ex-BFF, Catherine Reed. Still, Owen knows Riley better than almost anyone, and his charming ideas for turning the prom upside-down and backward win Riley over.

Catherine is willing to join Owen and Riley on the prom committee, but only because her legacy as prom queen is at stake. She’s already suffocating under the weight of her parents’ expectations for after senior year, and compared to that, ensuring prom happens should be easy. At least until everything starts to go wrong.

First they lose their deposit. Then they book a band full of octogenarians. And lose their venue... Twice.

Riley will have an unforgettable teenage experience, damn it, if it’s the last thing she does…

2.5 stars rounded up

Prom-Wrecked started fabulously with the unknon-chaos that wrecked the prom. After, it went downhill tho.

Prom-wrecked united several misfit kids, with your-run-in-the-mill stereotypes to save their cancelled prom. You got your jock, queen-bee, wanna-bee, drama kids, and (sorta) nerds.
The scene was opened near the end, where everything definitely went wrong. Then, we took a few step back on months before the 'morp' (or, as Owen said 'Morp. It's a prom spelled backwards')

Look, no matter how cliche it is, if the story is interesting enough to keep me through the pages, I'm game.
However, the disadvantages with Prom-wrecked was that there were too many exposition with two povs to add.

I love Riley's inner voice and pov, but I didn't buy Cat's and it was a shame. Cat was the popular it-girl with equally popular boyfriend, but guess what, she wasn't as bitchy as she showed herself to be. Cat's character enticed me, because it's cliched af but in the right hand, it shows depth.
Unfortunately, any chapter with Cat was so stiff, with problems that were 'easy' to solve in the end.

Overall, what bothered me most was the exposition. I didn't need Cat to literally narrate that Hunter was her bff for the past four years, we would gather it by ourselves. I could went insane because of this, but thankfully, I managed.

This is a story about a self made prom or morp. It starts out strong with a bunch of them in jail. What comes next is the story of how this happened. All of the ups, downs, and run around that got them to this point.
I absolutely loved the all of the drama and Murphy's law.
My only problem is that the blurb gave you each problem instead of letting you find out while reading. I would have liked a bit more of a surprise.
Overall perfect for fans of friendship, disasters, and dances.

This okay for me. I loved the multi-POV and the chance to see from more than one perspective. I thought the characters seemed true to life in their teen-ness, and I liked that they weren't stereotypes or shallow (ie, self-centered). I thought the relationship drama (both romantic and platonic) was nicely done.

Really, I enjoyed it, but it just didn't grab onto me like other books have. I'd give it 3.5 stars but round it up to 4 because there's nothing 'wrong' with it, even if I didn't *love* it.
