I mostly liked this book. The premise caught my eye and I liked where the story was going. Now, it dragged towards the end and the characters were a bit irrational, but it was still an enjoyable book.
The flirting and sexy scenes were great

PD: There were some spelling mistakes (at least in my copy)

This is Grace and John’s book Grace is a former first lady and she had the horror of seeing her husband the president gun down by two rogue secret service agents! John wants no part of protecting the former first lady he’s moved on to a tropical island with good rum and willing women to forget that the United States president was killed on his watch! To his surprise when the former first lady shows up on his house boat asking him to please be her private bodyguard to a first ladies convention he wants nothing to do with her but then again Grace is hard to resist LOL this book was very well written and definitely worth reading although it was not one if my top favorite it’s still definitely worth reading! Thank you net galley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

This was a new to me author and i have to say she caught me good. The first chapter holding my interest enough that i read through into the night with this novel. Grace's character intrigued me from the start, a woman who was the First Lady until her husband was killed. Now nearly a year later she has threats all around her and secrets that may get her killed. John Marin was a cool character, sometimes a bit uncompromising and hard, he hides out in the Caribbean after watching grace's husband get killed on his watch. Now the woman is at his boat to convince him to once again be her protector. With his feeling for her growing by the day can he work with what she makes him feel and still be strong enough t get the job done right or will Grace just be another casualty on his watch?

I found this to be quite a calm book, even though there was a lot going on around the characters the author did not bog us down with much political policies, just weaving them seamlessly into the story so we are not overwhelmed. A good read and I would highly recommend this book.

The President of the United States is assassinated, on stage, as he is preparing to announce his plan to run for four more years. His wife had just left the podium when he is taken out by two secret service agents. Why would the secret service kill the president? First Lady Grace Ashton Coolidge will never forget the sight as she is removed from the stage by John Marin, a secret service agent assigned to the President’s detail. John resigns after the event and moves to St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, knowing that he has failed in his assignment. Nine months later, Grace has commitments that she must attend and she is forced to accept protection. The only one she trusts to keep her safe is John Marin, but first she will have to find him. Will John agree to protect her? John feels that Grace has not told him the full story, but he agrees to protect her as long as she follows his rules. The attraction between John and Grace is electric, but will they give in to their feelings? An intriguing story line between a strong, capable woman who knows what she wants and the man who will fight her and himself to keep her safe.
