Meg Cabot is one of those authors that I will pick up always. Sometimes I fall in love with her books, sometimes not. No judgements fell into the middle for me.

This book follows Sabrina “Bree” and Drew as the main character but there are quite a few supporting characters along the way. Drew’s family, locals to Little Bird, Sabrina’s mom, ex boyfriend Caleb, and Caleb’s best friend Kyle. Sometimes with all the characters, it was a bit much. They were easily remembered but fell flat as lack of detail/ solid integration into the main story line.
The main story line is that the characters live on Little Bird island and a hurricane is approaching. Bree decides that she will not evacuate. The subplot to the book is that Bree has a hate to love romance with Drew that develops as they go out after the hurricane has passed to help with animals that were left behind when the owners evacuated and could not get back to the island because the bridge was taken out in the storm.

I think that if Cabot has focused on the sub plot romance, this book would have been exactly what I wanted.
The hurricane emergency lists/ and advice/facts that each chapter began with didn’t bother me as much as they would bother individuals who have been through multiple hurricanes but as the book went on, I did skip reading those.

Overall, I adore Meg Cabot’s writing style, and her main character development, so this book was enjoyable and I would recommend it as a fun and quick read.

This was my first Meg Cabot book and I really enjoyed this book.
A hurricane is headed straight for Little Bridge Island and Bree has no intention to leaves no matter who tries to persuade her.
After the hurricane hits she finds herself helping residents who fled without their pets. Making sure the animals are fed and safe all with the help of Drew, her boss' nephew. Before she knows it she finds herself attracted to him.
This book was just sweet.

Sabrina has renamed herself Bree and relocated herself to the tiny Florida Key island of Little Bridge in an effort start a new life after her New York City life, boyfriend and parents disappointed her. She dyes her hair pink, gets a great roommate, a job waiting tables and is even painting again. Things are going well until a Hurricane hits Little Bridge and along with the storm comes the romantic pursuit of Drew Hartwell. He's the super cute contractor who adopts every dog he meets. She really doesn't want to be interested in him but he's making it very difficult to resist.

This novel was adorable. There were enough "issues" in Bree and Drew's lives to make them and their courtship interesting but not so many that it sucked all the fun out of it. I dare you to not fall in love with Drew - what a great book boyfriend! If you want a good, fun read this is a winner.

Growing up, I was such a huge Meg Cabot fan — The Princess Diaries series was a religion as far as I was concerned and I loved her other work as well. However, No Judgments fell flat for me.

SYNOPSIS: Bree has spent the last few months running — from her ex-boyfriend, from law school and from her mother. She’s ended up in Little Bridge, a tiny island nestled in the Florida keys, working in a cafe. However, when the hurricane of the century threatens to wreck the island, Bree has to make some quick choices — some of which have to do with the handsome nephew of her boss and notorious player, Drew. This one comes out on September 24th!

No Judgments was definitely an author-and-cover impulse request on @netgalley, and I’m honestly disappointed that I don’t like it more. Bree is a strong character but I found that the love story lacked some build-up and believability and that her problems were easily resolved in a way that felt not just unrealistic but truly improbable. A lot of the drama happened sort of off-page and between-the-lines, and while sometimes that worked, other times it faltered and undercut the feeling and progression of the story.

Perhaps I’ve outgrown the YA stage of my life, but I just couldn’t get invested in this relatively quick, easy read. Thank you to @netgalley @williammorrow and @harpercollins for this e-ARC!

I have to be honest, and admit that I felt very middle of the road about this novel. I didnt feel strongly about any of the characters. I didnt care what was happening in the story. I wasnt surprised by anything in this novel.
All in all, it didnt do anything really wrong. This particular one was just not the right fit for me.

They are short and the characters are usually nice people. This book had some odd quirks in it but overall just a fun read. 4 stars.

I generally love Meg Cabot and have been a lifelong reader from her 1-800-Where-Are-You and Mediator series (both before Princess Diaries), but I really had to force myself through "No Judgments". The character was much more wimpy and whiny than she needed to be. Sure she's figuring out a lot of things after moving from New York City to the Florida Keys and trying to keep a lot of things secret from the locals, but she fought herself and her love interest so much that when she hooked up with the guy, it felt extremely forced. I loved certain aspects of the novel. For instance I read the majority of it during Hurricane Dorian so the storm preparation and weather descriptions were heightened by my own real world experiences. I also appreciated that there was a lot of love for rescuing animals both from shelters and after-storm dangers. Cabot has the atmosphere and the kooky island down, this just would have been a whole lot better with a different heroine.

I would recommend this book to someone looking for a fast, fun, light, chic lit read. I really liked that way that the story moved quickly and kept my attention. I've read lots of book by Meg Cabot and there have been some that I've liked better. I still enjoyed it though!

I love Meg Cabot and have read pretty much her entire bibliography. I find her writing to be heartfelt and realistic, but with enough of a comedic relief to make it great. I really relate to most of her characters and that's what makes it super enjoyable.

No Judgements doesn't fail in the previous regards. I enjoyed the main characters and premise of the story. Sometimes Cabot's stories run along the line of disbelief with crazy antics and situations. I find this to be very much in the realm of realism. The ending did feel a little more like some of Cabot's usual work.

I would recommend this story to any Meg Cabot fan or those who would like to ease into her writing. I hope she continues to write in this series. I think there is some great potential for other couples and stories in that community.

This book was not for me. It was full of so many content warnings: sexual assault, emotional abuse, gun violence, animal abuse, toxic relationships, alcoholism, trauma, anxiety, and drug abuse. Plus the way a side character that was said to be socially awkward was handled by calling them slow. The way a lot of things were handled in the book didn’t make sense to me.

Bree Beckham finds more than she could've hoped for on Little Bridge Island after escaping her ex and her family... a hurricane heading straight for the island is frankly the least of her worries.

I was a big fan of Meg Cabot books as a teenager, so I was thrilled to realize that she writes for adults too. This novel was every bit of fluff that I expected it to be, but it's some of the best fluff I've ever read. I truly enjoyed the characters, the premise, and the story. Having lived in Florida for several years now, and through a major hurricane too, I found myself connecting to the main character's love of Little Bridge Island. I also felt the descriptions before, during, and after the big storm were pretty spot on.

GoodReads notes that this is Little Bridge Island #1 and I am anxiously awaiting the continuation of this series (and hopefully, another glimpse of Bree Beckham's life)!

I have enjoyed every Meg Cabot book I’ve read, so I was excited to get a jump on this one. It was even more amusing when the hurricane-watch news from the book was matching up with my Facebook feed from friends in Florida! Yikes!

No Judgments (the first book in the new Little Bridge Island series) was a fun read, even if I considered it a bit predictable. Introduce girl, show "bad boy" whom she doesn’t want to be interested in – think that’ll be her love interest? Ding, ding, ding! Luckily I usually read for pure entertainment, not to try and outsmart anyone and see who can guess the ending first.

Without spoiling anything, there were a few character quirks, and at least one complete character, who surprised me a little with their appearance in the story. I’m glad this is the first book in a series so hopefully we can find out more about these unexpected developments. I also enjoyed the descriptions of life on the island, including their homes and the type of people who lived there.

Overall, I’d give this one 3 out of 5 stars. Nothing I had to think too much about, but a pleasant read for a few hours of entertainment. I’d never turn down a chance to read a book by Meg Cabot, with her chatty, engaging writing style.

Wow! That was a fun read. I loved the characters in this book. Helping all of the pets that were left behind was an important reminder to donate not only water but pet supplies in aftermath of a hurricane.

Bree moves to a holiday island near Florida to get a fresh start after her life falls apart in New York. Working as a waitress at a local café, she meets Drew, the café owners’ nephew. When a hurricane hits the island and she, Drew and few members of her family are stranded on the island, she finds herself drawn to Drew and trying to find closure for her life in New York.

I really wanted to like this book because I grew up reading all of Meg Cabot’s book as a girl. However, the story just didn’t do it for me. It was paced too slow at the beginning so too much ended up happening towards the end. The plotline with the animals didn’t really have a proper conclusion, and nor did the storyline with her mother. It is a cute read and the parts where Drew and Bree flirt is adorable. I love the descriptions of the residents of the island as well as Bree’s cute cat Gary. It was sweet and fun. However, there are too many awkward plot points for me to ignore, and I ended up just not connecting with the story.

This is a sweet, light, scenic little chick lit romance about a hurricane devastating a coastal town in Florida. Two things drew me to this book initially, one being that unlikely premise of a cute romance in the midst of a hurricane and two being that it's by Meg Cabot. I've yet to read books by her despite hearing that this author was one of the best early YA writers.

Here's What I Liked

- Amazing cat rep. I should probably start by mentioning the main character Bree but I'd rather talk about her cat, Gary. He is a sweet and lovable cat without an ounce of sass. So often I hear of cats having this reputation as being sassy/cold/mean. Meanwhile in reality I've known the neediest, cuddliest, most lovable balls of fluff cats. It's great to see cats like Gary, we need more cats like Gary in fiction.

- The romance is slow-moving. Your mileage may vary on appreciating this but I like slow, gradual, natural development in romance. Bree and Drew are cute and while she's quickly attracted to him, I didn't sense insta-love and when they finally kiss it's after a decent amount of interaction and character-building. Also love that they're both animal lovers. Some of the issues I'll mention in the didn't-like section were made up for by that at least.

- There is a real atmosphere. This is a very summer-y book. The brief but good descriptions of Bree's seaside neighborhood and the offbeat but endearing locals are nicely realized. The conversations she has with them are convincing and give a warm and fuzzy atmosphere. There is some funny dialogue. Going to use the word 'mancation' to describe being single from now on.

- Just a quick and relaxed read. This is one you could finish in a day if it keeps your attention. I spread it out into 2-3 days.

Didn't Like

- Bree irked at times. Don't get me wrong, she's an alright character, but her stubborn insistence to chillax on this island when winds are tearing down her doorstep was maddening. Especially when Gary's life could be at stake. I could, on occasion, be found yelling at the pages just chastising the character. Does anyone else do that?

- Based on the description I was expecting Bree and Drew to go on some animal-saving journey in the ruins of their island town. This plot thread is small and loaded around the end of the book. A lot of huge events and plot wrap ups are packed into the last 30% or so, to an almost comical effect. The calm before the storm, by comparison, takes up around the first half of the whole book. I hope to never again think this morbid thought- "When is the storm coming? Can it just happen now please?" Would have been better for the overall story to move it along faster and have the storm occur sooner.

One other thing of note, not a didn't like but just a content warning. Bree is a survivor of assault. It's just lightly touched upon at the beginning of the book but becomes a surprisingly relevant plot line later on. At one point she confronts her attacker. Given the light and airy fluff that permeates the majority of this book, I found this scene a bit questionable in its handling. Bree says some worthwhile things during the encounter. But without spoiling it I'll just say this much- I thought this was a less than effective scene and some readers may be put off if they are sensitive to that subject matter in the first place.

To sum it all up, I enjoyed No Judgments. May or may not be open to the sequel, depends on its aims. I think a new set of characters in this setting might be nice to see in keeping things fresh.

I read this book so fast! faster than Hurricane Dorian is moving!

It reminded me of when Hurricane Irma was headed straight through Florida a few years back. Im a South Florida girl so I know exactly what is happening with the island folks who were "hunkering down" in the storm. It was a very realistic story from that perspective. Add a little romance and VOILA! perfect story.

This was my first Meg Cabot book and it WILL NOT be my last!

Meg Cabot has been one of my all-time favorite authors since The Princess Diaries came out. No Judgements, kicks off with her newest series Little Bridge Island series. Note there is a short story not in this book called Bridal Boot Camp, which is a bit of a prequel to this book, but it isn’t necessary in reading it though. Back to No Judgements, I found this be a decent read overall. I love how Meg Cabot’s writing keeps you interested and liked the set of characters she presented. However, I did find the story start out a bit too slow for me and it picks up out of nowhere in the last half of the book. I also noticed that towards the end of the book, the storyline is a bit all over place and it seemed a bit crammed. I understand that the author was trying to incorporate some important themes in this book and I appreciate her for trying to do that, but I feel that it wasn’t executed as well as it could been. Regardless if you’re a fan of Meg Cabot’s, you’ll definitely won’t want to miss this one.

How ironic that I pick up this book as a hurricane is getting ready to strike the Bahamas and US... This book had all the elements that I enjoy in a story: a natural disaster and animals, but the pacing was off and there were unexpected triggers for sexual assault and violence. It was a fine read, but didn't meet my expectations for the rom-com I was hoping for.

I typically love Meg Cabot's books, but this was a rare miss for me. The romance felt very formulaic and predictable, and the animal aspect of the book felt like slapstick humor. It didn't live up to her previous books for me.
