A Twist In The Tail is the first in the Oyster Cove Guesthouse cosy mystery series and what a perfect way to introduce this quirky bunch of characters!

Josie has moved back to Oyster Cove after the break up of her marriage, buying the Oyster Cove guesthouse and throwing herself into the renovation of the dilapidated mansion. If that wasn’t enough, she has to deal with fussy guest, a building inspector who fines her for every minor infraction and the resident cats Nemo and Marlowe who are determined to get under foot.

Then one the guests is found dead but is it an accident or murder?

When suspicion falls on Josie, with the help of her mum and her mum’s best friend Millie, they set out to clear her name. Meanwhile, the resident cats are on the scent too, determined to her their human out. Will they solve the case before anyone else gets hurt?

This was an absolute joy to read! It’s the perfect blend of mystery and fun with crime solving cats thrown into the mix. Yes, you read that right crime solving cats.

Now this is first book I’ve read that has animals as one of the main characters in the book since I was a child, I know it might put some people off but they are done so well, with humour that will have you laughing your socks off!

I loved all the characters, but my favourites were Josie’s mum Rose and Millie the former owner of the guesthouse and her mum’s best friend, who are out to prove that even though they’re retired it won’t stop them from investigating.

I also liked the fact that even though there are so many personalities in the story, the mystery wasn’t overshadowed and it really had me guessing who the culprit was until the very end.

The ending leaves it open with a hint of another puzzling mystery for the cats and their human Josie to solve and I for one cannot wait for the next one!

A twist in the tail is a must for animal lovers and cosy mystery fans!

As cozy mysteries go, this is a wonderful tail (!) Love the cats as someone who lived with a cat for 16 years(notice I didn't say owned) can attest to, cats are Masters of their domain. Very cleverly done, can't wait for the next book in this series. I'm hoping the next book with have more romance with maybe the daughter showing up. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

I really liked this book. I kept thinking I knew who had done it but the characters reasonings for who had done it kept making sense too so it really was a bit of a surprise at the end. If you like mysteries, detective work, and cats this book is for you! I voluntarily received and read an ARC for an honest review.

A Twist in the Tail by Leighann Dobbs is the first in a new series ( The Oyster Cove Guesthouse series), focussing on a divorced mother of one, Josie Waters, who has returned to her quaint seaside hometown of Oyster Cove, Maine to take over a Bed and Breakfast that is currently undergoing renovation.
Two mysteries that are entwined are the main subject plots in addition to the introduction, and beginning backstories of the additional characters (her Mom, Minnie-the previous owner of the historic landmark house, Mike, Stella, Jenn, and her crime-fighting duo of cats- Marlowe and Nero.
I enjoyed the overall plot, and was not able to guess the perpetrator until the end, and enjoyed learning about the characters. All were like-able and relate-able, and I look forward to learning more about them in the upcoming books in this series.
I also enjoyed the chapters that were in the voices of the two cats. Definitely made me chuckle several times. Anyone that has a cat can relate.

Overall a great read. 5/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me this advanced read in return for my voluntary and unbiased review.

‘A Twist in the Tail is the first book in the Brand New Oyster Cove Guesthouse series by the well known author Leighann Dobbs.

In this book we meet Josie Waters who has just moved back home to Oyster Cove , Maine and put all her money into the Oyster Cove Guesthouse. She purchased the guesthouse from a senior friend of the family, Millie Sullivan. Along with the guesthouse she inherited two cats, Nero and Marlowe.
Things go from bad to worst when one of her Inn's guests is found murdered in an area of the Inn that his dilapidated.

This book is fantastic. Did I mention that Nero and Marlowe are talking cats that help solve the mystery along with their "gang" down by the water? The characters that the author has created are realistic, fun and relateable.

Do you enjoy book series? If so, this promises to be a good one. It starts in an interesting locale with intriguing doings in a deteriorating historical guest house. You get just enough about the characters, animal and human, to want to know them. The plot delivers twists and turns while promising future twists that make you return for more. Is there going to be some romance? Hmm, maybe. Tune in to learn how neophyte guesthouse owner and cat roommate Josie begins her new life mentored by her mother and schooled by the cats. A murder will be solved and the stage will be set for future shenanigans at the Oyster Cove Guesthouse.
