Very silly...very far fetched and unrealistic....but an easy read ! One to read by a pool where you don’t need to think too much!!! |
Unfortunately, this thriller doesn't live up to the twists and turns we've come to expect in this genre. The plot is thin and the characters lack depth, and I found it hard to like or relate to any of them or their decisions. |
This was a fast paced domestic thriller with a quickie marriage and an unexpected honeymoon. Chloe is happy with Dan... until that aforementioned honeymoon where she questions everything. Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. |
Now here is an author I love to read so when The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall came out I have to find a quiet place in my garden and open my kindle. WoW............Rona does not disappoint! her two previous two books Love you Gone and Keep you safe were brilliant reads I was excited to get my hands on a copy. I was not wrong with this book It was another brilliant read. Chloe had the dream wedding. a wedding she has always dreamt of and wanted...........With her perfect man Dan waiting for her at the end of the aisle. They haven’t known each other for long, but as she she knew as she looked at him she knew it would be forever. But was it? Later, as they relax on a beautiful island, settling in to their new married life together, they congratulate themselves on their lovely wedding day, and Dan jokes that he’d like them to stay there forever. But, was he joking? I highly recommend this book and all of Rona's books. They are great for your holidays as well. Big Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own. |
The Honeymoon has been on my tbr list for a while and I was excited when I finally had some time to read it. I picked it up this morning and have read it in a few hours. Rona Halsall has a supremely excellent way of writing and building suspense and tension. I was hooked throughout It has mystery, suspense, twists and turns and it is a brilliant read. I am so excited to read Rona's next book. I would highly recommend The Honeymoon. |
A fast paced thriller that kept me turning the pages! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an advanced reading copy. |
The Honeymoon is an entertaining book full of secrets and lies. It’s one of those books that draws you straight in and you can't put it down until you finish it Will certainly keep you on your toes and have you on the edge of you seat when things start to unravel, I can't wait to read more from this author |
The plot is far fetched and quite unbelievable at points, however despite that, I really enjoyed it. It’s an easy and absorbing read and I will definitely read more from this author in future. |
Did not care for this book. Couldn't even finish. I struggled to even get into this one. Eventually had to give this one up. |

This book started off very well but it became very far fetched and I sadly was disappointed.. Sorry, this one's not for me |
This was a fast-paced addictive read that left my head spinning! Girl meets boy. Girl goes out with boy. Girl falls in love with boy. Girl marries boy after only knowing him for two months. And what follows is the honeymoon from hell! Chloe and Dan Mary after a two month whirlwind romance. What transpires is Chloe on an island with a man she doesn’t even know. Her sweet loving fiancé has turned into a controlling husband, and he claims it is for her own safety. But what is true and what is a lie? Chloe knows way too much about secrets because she has one of her own. If your child ever comes home wanting to marry somebody after only knowing them for a short time hand them this book, they will probably change their mind. Dan what a weirdo! I had no idea what his agenda was, what he was up to, if he was telling the truth or telling lies, but something about him just gave me the heebie-jeebies. Chloe I felt so bad for her. She was caring around so much guilt and that really made her so vulnerable, so right for the picking. For the majority of this book I had no idea what direction it was going in. Every time it zigged or zagged I was surprised. I and just when I thought everything was all good... Think again! A wonderful quick absorbing story, perfect for those lazy afternoons by the pool. A wild tale full of crazy characters that will completely intrigue you! |
A wonderful fast-paced read, a story absorbing book about a girl who falls fast in love with the boy. This book is perfect for a lazy afternoon, sitting by the pool, or a rainy day inside. All I have to say is if your son or daughter come to you, saying they want to marry someone after a short period of time of knowing them. They truly need to be handed this book. The characters were very intriguing and very crazy. Chole was caring around so much guilt and it made her vulnerable, and such a great sucker. Every time this book showed a twist, and zig zagged back and forth, you were struck with yet another event that you had no clue was about to happen |
Chloe falls head over heels for Dan after a chance meeting at her work when his mum is one of her patients and it seems he feels exactly the same. They rush into marriage without really knowing each other… nothing can go wrong…or can it… Things start to go wrong on honeymoon and Chloe wonders if she’s rushed in too quickly. Dan isn’t who he seemed to be and has lots of secrets even though she’s also got one of her own. He’s also moody and controlling and it’s not the honeymoon she always dreamed of. There are lots of twists and turns and the storylines kept me interested. There is an element to the story which I found slightly far fetched but all in all it’s an enjoyable read. I liked how Chloe fought back and stood on her own two feet. Would recommend. |
I can’t find much positive to say about this book as the character of both Chloe and Dan were weak and changed to keep the plot moving which I didn’t like. I have read a number of very varied reviews of The Honeymoon which just goes to show that there are lots of people out there who will read the book and love it so if the blurb interests you.. go for it. |
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of The Honeymoon, my honest review is below. This book had such a promising start and for the first few chapters I was hooked. Chloe is going off on her honeymoon with her perfect new husband Dan. As they’re walking to the gate at the airport she finds out they’re not headed to her dream destination of the Maldives which she thought they’d booked, but to Menorca instead. Once on Menorca, things start off well but every now and again the reader gets a glimpse of a darkness in Dan that Chloe is quick to explain away and forgive. Both Chloe and Dan are harbouring secrets, whilst their secrets share a type of event in common, the circumstances surrounding them are poles apart. The narrative flips between the present and the past and we learn about how Chloe and Dan met and that Chloe is estranged from her siblings. Chloe has a strained relationship with her Gran who lives nearby. Dan has a closet full of skeletons he’s not willing to give up easily. Chloe’s few friends and lack of family support allow the reader to understand why Chloe was so eager to be in a relationship with Dan. But the phrase ‘marry in haste, repent at leisure’ was never more apt! Dan wants them to stay on Menorca forever, Chloe isn’t quite so keen as she has a home and job to return to, but Dan doesn’t give her a choice. It is here that the story began to fall down for me. Whilst I can understand – at a stretch – that Chloe ignored all of the (slowly revealed but quite blatant) warning signs about Dan, her behaviour afterwards was hard to believe. She could either be a cowed victim, or a strong woman who stands up for herself, instead Chloe dithers between the two. Perhaps the author thought a balanced attitude would be more realistic, but to me Chloe came across as contradictory rather than unsure. She claims she wants to follow one course of action and plans accordingly, but then when it comes into fruition, she sabotages herself so she’s back at square one. This made me question her original motivation and stop caring about what happens to her. I also found the fact that she desired an explanation of the truth more than she desired safety, to be unbelievable. Her to-ing and fro-ing between Dan and Menorca didn’t seem realistic. I persevered with the book, out of a sense of curiosity to see how it panned out. Much of the subsequent events were entirely predictable, which was fine because they were at least – in that sense – realistic. Chloe’s moment of strength and endurance could have been great (if she’d been a character who seemed capable of that) but it seemed incongruent to the dithery victim she chose to be most of the time. Her implied lack of self-esteem (stemming from the incident which left her estranged from her siblings) didn’t quite fit with the type of professional career she’d chosen to pursue either, which made her whole personality and actions difficult to swallow. A shame really as this novel has a great premise, but (for me) its execution was lacking. |
2.5 Stars. Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the free review copy! This book was a bit exhausting for me. I felt that Chloe was a rather pathetic character. I found the plot very frustrating and convoluted. I was also disappointed that there was no major plot twists and the ending was quite predictable. I also found myself questioning the arc of the relationship between Chloe and her grandmother/brother & sister and how that was relevant. It all seemed a bit too outlandish to me. |
Wow, this book started off with a bang. The characters were great. It was fast, which is just how I like it. I like to keep wanting to know more. It grabbed me from the first page. Secrets, twists, lies, your essentials for a good thriller. I loved Ronas writing style, I have to admit I also love a book with an awesome cover!!! |
When Chloe met Dan, she just knew all her dreams were finally coming true. She has had a rough time in her past with her mother's death and dealing with other family members - but Dan and their whirlwind romance is helping ease years of guilt and hurt. After their small wedding ceremony, Dan whisks Chloe away on a dream honeymoon - at least that's what she thinks. She always wanted to go to the Maldives but finds out on the plane that they are instead headed to Spain. While she feels a bit unsettled, Chloe knows no matter where they end up they will have a great time. But in Spain, Chloe sees a new side of Dan. - an aggressive, angry side. It becomes apparent to Chloe that she had no idea who she was marrying - her dream marriage is becoming her nightmare. I liked this book - it was standard thriller fare, nothing really stood out, but it was a quick, enjoyable read. Thanks to Rona Halsall, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. |
Der Schreibstil hat mir sehr gefallen, aus dem Grund habe ich es auch bis zum Ende gelesen. Der Rest ist wirklich nur naja - die Charaktere, die Handlung, die Entwicklungen der Geschichte... |

Great holiday read, a real page turner. As you learn more about Chloe's history you understand why she married Dan after only a few months of knowing him, I think she was desperate to be loved. Clever plot with a satisfying ending. Highly recommend. |
