I really enjoyed Stephan and Caroline's story! The bantering between them had me laughing out loud. I loved how she stood up to her father about not wanting to marry the man that he had promised her to. Too many in that situation, would have just done as he asked. I'm excited to see what Breeding comes up with next!

This book was everything a historical romance should be! The banter between Caroline and Stephen was extremely well written and funny at times, but the whole book together? Definitely a must read. It was accurate and flowed perfectly for the time period. Well worth the time to read.

This novel brings together a woman who has no desire to marry and a man hiding secrets. Caroline Nash has hurt by a man who claimed he would propose and never did. Instead he married someone else. Caroline desires passion and when the Midnight Marauder does that, Caroline desires him. However, her father, with Prinny's approval, has selected a husband for her, though she has reached her majority. Stephan, the Marquis of Kendrick, is a pirate, among other things. He does not conform to society after how his mother was treated and he was blamed for his half-brother's death. Stephan is immediately intrigued by Caroline and agrees to help deter the earl's attentions. Stephan is more than he seems and has no intention of telling Caroline his secrets. He feels that she desires his alter ego, but she does not know he is planning to win her hand. As the house party continues, there is the gossip and sabotage amok, making things difficult for Caroline and Stephan. When truths are revealed, where will each stand?

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This novel started out sensationally erotica and daring. Caroline is accosted by a masked robber who steals an earth shattering kiss only to disappear again. She's then forced into an engagement by her father to a man she can't stand. Stephen arrives and pretends to court her in order to save her from marrying the man. Little does she know that he has feelings for her. I thought there would be more sensual scenes as their interactions grow more intimate with this ruse. But the author chooses to make us wait until about 80% before she randomly throws herself at him after ignoring him and declares her love.
The ending was super rushed and unclimatic.
