Painting, paper art, stone painting, drawing, doodling, shrink art and other projects are detailed in this book. The book discusses the studio and how to set one up for the projects written about in this book. This includes the different types of paint, glues, papers, etc used with the book's projects.

The projects were well documented but the book's typology was off which made the projects hard to read. Children should enjoy making these art projects despite the typology.

Fun book but not what I was expecting. It's a great title for readers leading kids in craft projects but not so much for adults.

I recieved an ARC through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I am a mom with a 5 year old and we really liked this book. As a busy mom, I really like that the materials list comes before starting so that I didn't need to do too much of a review and run around while my kid is impatient to get started. I also like that it also gives child friendly explanations about why the materials were selected. In all I think its a fun book and recommend it to other parents who want to get crafty with their kids but can't be bothered with getting sucked into Pinterest or are too tired to try and come up with things on their own. Thanks!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I like the many art projects in this book and plan to use some of them in our make-and-take crafts at the library.

A fun filled book of activities for any parent, baby sitter, teacher in charge of creating fun activities for smaller kids. Think of Pinterest but on paper or digital/paper.

Thank you NetGalley for an Advance Reader's Copy of this book.

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for providing me for a digital arc for my honest review.

When I saw Art Sparks was written by fellow art educators, I had high hopes for a great read.

The book contains 53 arts and crafts activities separated into six different categories. Each chapter starts with a small introduction, that gives you a materials list and some helpful tips. I really like that the materials list comes before starting any of the crafts. I like that it also gives child friendly explainations about why certain materials were selected.

The book was created with lots of fantastic images of the projects and easy to follow instructions. For a child I think this would be fantastic but maybe for an adult you're better just looking online for ideas!

I received an ARC of this book from Storey Publishing via NetGalley, this review is my personal opinion.

Wow! this book is just amazing. Colorful and you can see the work and the love on each page. From the start, they give you recommendations on how to set the art studio. I like that the book it’s separated by materials and on each chapter the type of materials what we are going to need. Step by step, tips, useful information while making the project and pictures of everything. I like that this book represents an opportunity of expression for both children’s and adults. The projects are not complicated are easy to make and on the contest has all the information, so you have ideas and more ideas on what to work it. Also, the projects have a bit of cultural background which as a teacher I like it since you can use to teach many subjects while doing that project.

I believe that if you like art and expression yourself through them with your students or family in a fun, simple and unexpected way. This book is a wonderful choice.

When I saw Art Sparks I was intrigued to see what the book would contain and having been written by two art educators I had high hopes for a great read.

The book contains 53 arts and crafts separated into six categories, painting, drawing, paper craft, felt & fabric, art & nature and sculpture. At the start of each chapter there is an introduction including some information on what you may need for the crafts within the section and some tips that might come in handy.

I really like before each chapter as it helps you become prepared and would help children see what they would need before starting to look at any of the crafts. I like that some chapters go into why you need such items as I think it's great that the book explains in a child friendly way some product information you might not normally share with a child (e.g. uses of different weights of paper, how paints differ and what they're best for).

The book is presented beautifully and is very eye catching to look at with all the bright colours and fun pictures of all the projects. On each page there are plenty of fantastic images of the project and easy to follow instructions. I particularly like how many of the projects have a meaning or inspiration behind them with some of the history of the projects inspiration being an introduction on the first page. I think it's great for children to be able to learn some new facts and it would be great for them to share with others once they have made the art / craft and are showing it to their friends and family.

The crafts themselves are very basic and not quite as unique as I'd have liked. With some of the crafts included being leaf painting, painting a stick or rock painting, these are things that I'd hope most people wouldn't need a book to inspire them to make but on the other hand there are a few crafts I did like the look of like the aluminium foil pictures and there are some great sculptures. Although as an adult I do find the crafts simple and disappointing I do think that as a child, just by seeing some of the pictures they would be inspired to try and create their own. I do not think many of them need instructions as they are pretty self explanatory but I do like that by giving children the ideas they are free to create and express themselves however they wish and really make their arts and crafts unique to them, the projects give them a freedom to be creative and this is what matters most!

I think you could take this book two ways, as an adult it's not the most unique craft book and includes many arts and crafts I have seen many times before but I do recognise the beauty of the book in the way it is presented and the unique way it includes lots of facts and tips and tricks. As a child though, I think this is a book that any creative children would love and would provide them with inspiration for lots of different ways to be creative with lots of freedom in what they create. As a gift for a child I think this would be a fantastic book but maybe for adults you're better just looking online for ideas!

Get your children away from the screen by making these fun projects. They will be using their imaginations are creating beautiful art in no time.

Each week my kindergarten age grandson and I do an art project. I cannot wait to try out the ones so colorfully shown in this book!

This is a wonderful resource for art projects. It brings back memories of projects I did as a child but have forgotten. The projects use items found around the house, recycled or in nature. The authors give complete instructions and show brilliantly colored samples. The techniques are varied.

I will be buying this book for my friends and families with kids. It should be in every household.

I received an ARC from Storey Publishing through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review.

Such a fun book! It's full of DIYs and art inspiration for the kids -and not so kids. A lot of these proyects reminded me of my own proyects from when I was little. And some of them inspired me to look for paintings, pencils, brushes and even sticks to have fun for a while.
I'll definetly share this book with some of the children around me. It's great that at the start, the book reminds the children that they have to tidy up the table when they are done ;)

I absolutely loved this book. So many fun projects. 53 if I'm not wrong. Colorful pictures, well explained, with materials that you normally have at home.
Wide variety of projects and techniques, arrange in different levels. Painting, sculpting, collages (my favorite),
Inspiring not only for children...adults also.

There are so many creative, inventive, easy and fun ideas in this book that will keep your most bored child entertained for a good long time. There is painting, paper art, drawing, felt and fabric, sculpture and art from nature projects to make with a minimal out lay in equipment, that anyone can do.
These two ladies hold weekly camps for 25children in the school holidays, with resounding success. Their book is bold, colourful and fun, so you and your children too, can join in the fun at home. There are 53 project in all taking 30 t0 90 mins each to complete and each are listed with degree of difficulty. Great book for all

A fun creative book with a wide variety of arty projects that older children (maybe 9+?) could do independently or for parents & children to do together for slightly younger children. The projects are easy to follow, with good diagrams and photos of the various steps. Most importantly, they don't require a lot of expensive or unusual supplies. Separated into topics such as painting, drawing, sculpture etc, it explores a very wide variety of techniques & looks at art styles from around the world including Maori tattoos and Mexican Talavera tile painting.
There's nothing "new", but having the ideas together in one simple to follow book, actually aimed at children, is great. The photos are bright, clear & show children's art work alongside adult-made examples which is great as the kids can see what the finished project could actually look like!

Disclosure: I received an advance reader copy free from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

This is a fantastic book of art projects for kids, full of bright illustrations and fun ideas. Chapters include painting, drawing, sculpture, found objects, nature and more. I've been doing arts and crafts with my kids for nearly 21 years now so I've read a lot of craft books and done a lot of crafts. I'm not sure if any of these are new to me, but they're all colorful and inspirational and the sorts of projects that my kids would love to do. Highly recommended.

My rating system:

1 = hated it
2 = it was okay
3 = liked it
4 = really liked it
5 = love it, plan to purchase, and/or would buy it again if it was lost

I read a temporary digital ARC of the book for the purpose of review.
